deM atlaS Responds to Allegations | Here is my story.

I would like to take this opportunity to provide context to the photo shared on social media by my ex, Emma Bastolich and the false allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse.
I have always moved with consent in my relationships and I have never abused anyone. These lies and the continued use of gaslighting and smear tactics have caused great pain and trauma not only to myself, but to my community as a whole.
On February 18, 2018 during an argument, I was assaulted by my ex, Emma Bastolich in the backseat of a taxi. She punched me repeatedly in the face and all I could do was grab her arms and hold her down in an attempt to restrain her.
I did not hit her back.
There were no charges ever filed & I have no criminal record. I have never been in a situation like that with a woman before or since.
Lies and slander were spread throughout social media in an attempt to destroy me and knock me off my path. In my darkest hour, many that I once called friends turned their backs on me without even bothering to call or listen to my side of the story.
By “canceling” me, they actually wanted me dead. That is not an exaggeration.
Sadly, my story is not unique. This could happen to anyone. It is reminiscent of other men & women of all walks of life who have had their lives upended and destroyed by narcissistic liars, manipulators, and abusers.
Legitimate misunderstandings that could be used as opportunities for learning, growth and empathy have been replaced with malevolence, fear & condemnation.
As of October 2021, I officially severed all ties with Rhymesayers Entertainment after months and months of negotiation, missed deadlines and delays on their part; a full year after I was publicly terminated.
Before they made the decision to discredit me, not once did they reach out for a meeting to hear my side of the story. After 8 years of knowing me personally and performing in countless tours, they chose to make their decision based off of fear, hearsay and false accusations.
I felt betrayed, abandoned, and I was left devastated. I trusted them.
This chapter of my life is closed and is not up for discussion. I’m moving on. I choose life and I choose to be happy.
Hopefully, this is the last time I will have to address the matter.
