I've loved Catching Freedom for months now. I would love to see him win, but I think my bets are going to mirror yours. I really like Just Steel, I'm glad he was in there as well. Nobody talks about him. Thanks for the advice, I'm going to take it.

Great Job and Tons of Info!! I’ve been a horseplayer my whole life bc my brothers were jockeys and I’ve had a ton of Fun and Learning experiences at the tracks with them. I personally usually never play favorites until one of my best friends pointed something out to me which is if I would just add the favorites to my picks I would have Won 90% of my losers. I’m always looking to hit that HUGE PAYDAY and I Now know after tons of mistakes of not using the favorites that U can still hit a HUGE PAYDAY with the favorites. Anyways as of now I’m using on Top these, Mystik Dan, Just a Touch, Forever Young, Track Phantom (My Favorite), Fierceness and Stronghold. Good Luck Everyone
Fierceness is the total bounce horse. After every big win. For some reason he bounces. They did a piece with thirograph and the sheets on him.
Just for the record I got 1:11 boxed 4:8 boxed then as a reach to prove all crazy 2:3 straight. Sierra got a bad post. 😊 Fun I love the KY Derby.

There is one horse that towers over the field and it's not Fierceness.
It has to be unprecedented for a KD entrant to either directly or indirectly have 16 of its likely opponents covered.
Sierra Leone defeated 8 likely starters.
Of the 8 likely starters defeated by Sierra Leone, 3 have defeated another 5 likely starters.
Of the 5 likely starters defeated by entrants that finished behind Sierra Leone, 2 have in turn defeated 3 other likely starters. (8+5+3=16).
There is always the danger of assuming that Sierra Leone's pending opponents, that were defeated by horses he has already defeated, are unlikely to pose a problem. But it's an angle that can be used to narrow the field. See below:
1- Domestic Product (Remsen) - Finished ahead of Fierceness in the Holy Bull. Fierceness defeated Catalytic & Grand Mo the First in the FL Derby; Domestic Product defeated No More Time who defeated West Saratoga.
2- Dornoch (Blue Grass)
3 - Just A Touch (Blue Grass)
4 - Catching Freedom (Risen Star)- Defeated Just Steel and Mystik Dan in Smarty Jones; Mystik Dan defeated Wynstock who defeated Stronghold in the Los Al Futurity
5 -Track Phantom - (Risen Star)
6 - Resilience - (Risen Star) Defeated Society Man in Wood Memorial
7 - Honor Marie (Risen Star)
8 - Epic Ride (Blue Grass)
Many might be rightfully dismissive of the above perspective from which Sierra Leone is being viewed against his likely opponents. But if none of the 16 are capable of beating him, which appears to be the case. The field is narrow to 4. The Chad Brown $2.3M colt has only 3 opponents to worry about
Sierra Leone beat GARBAGE...There only 3 good horses in this crop: Nysos,Muth, and Fierceness. The only horse who got close to any of these was JUST STEEL last time who is an improving beast.

I would rather a guy try and beat the favorite then make a show about the favorite, if you are right I lose

2023 - Anel Of Empire (1/1)-Brad Cox; finished 3rd with an incident free trip.
2022 - Epicenter (1/1) - S. Asmussen; finished 2nd with an incident free trip.
2021 - Essential Quality 3/2) Brad Cox; finished 4th with a troubled/wide trip.
2020 - Tiz The Law (1/2) B, Tagg; finished 2nd with an incident free trip.
2019 - Improbable (1/1) Bb; finished 5th with an incident free trip.
The above post time favorites entered he KD with significantly better resumes than Fierceness the expected post time favorite for the 2024 renewal of the KD. Four were representatives of top 5 barns
Angel Of Empire - Won 2 and finished 2nd in 3 KD preps as a 3YO. Never beaten 20L in any start prior to the KD.
Epicenter - Was virtually untouchable after his narrow defeat in LaComte. Entered the KD off a NTR in the LA Derby. His winning time (1:54.38) was good enough to win 13 of the last 16 Preakness. Never beaten 20L in any start prior to the KD.
Essential Quality - Like Fierceness won the BCJ and was also Champion 2YO. He entered the KD undefeated in 5 starts that included two 3YO KD preps. Never beaten 20L in any start prior to the KD.
Tiz The Law - Entered the KD with 6 wins from 7 starts. His winning time in the Travers (2;00.95) was good enough to win 20 of the last 22 renewals of the KD. Never beaten 20L in any start prior to the KD.
Improbable - Entered the KD with 3 wins & two 2nd place finishes from 5 starts. He inherited the post time KD favoritisms due the scratch of ML favorite Omaha Beach to whom he finished 2nd in the A K Derby.. Never beaten 20L in any start prior to the KD.
Given the above, Fierceness' resume and that of his trainer. Shouldn't extreme caution be exercised in elevating him to post time favorite?

I agree with the thought behind this. I wouldn’t usually be on the Derby favorite, especially at this price. But I happen to think this could be a special horse. Sometimes it takes even more than that in the Derby. I may be wrong. But it’s my opinion. Thanks for watching.
