First: I've always liked Bob. He's the best horse trainer ever. I'm 71 year's young, and have been following horse race's since I was 13 year's young. Bob has a great personality, he has some great stories, some incredible wins, and a few hard luck loses. But.. Second: Nobody can be that " unlucky " 31 times when it comes to either illegal drugs, or, illegal on race day, or even a very, very small amount of overage. It might as well be twice the limit. It's the excuses also, as a lifetime horse racing fan, I've never heard so many excuses. Some really lame excuses. Third: Bob is better than that. Is some of this, maybe, a bad test result? Maybe. I don't know. If I forget about 2, 3, 4, there is still a lot left. I like Bob, how could any horse racing fan not like him? He's the greatest horse trainer in the history of horse racing. Do I get mad as hell with his excuses? Yes! Do I still want him to win? Yes! Would I bet on his horse's? Duh, I like winning too. But, but, Bob, please dudè, somehow, some way, I don't care if you have to put 12 Ring door cameras in your horse's stalls, please do not come back with another durty test result. And, try to stop bad mouthing Churchill Downs some, back off a little. I want to see your horse's in the Ky. Derby with you training them! I will bet the horse without ever seeing it, without knowing his name, because he will win the Ky Derby straight up making you clearly the most successful horse trainer of all time. I'm not trying to be a -ick ,I'm not being a smart -ss, I'm not bashing Bob Baffert. Fourth: I like Bob Baffert!
More like he’s the greatest doping trainer in history. Guy regularly breaks down more impeccably bred horses than any trainer in history. That and the persistent doping cheating are his real legacy.
Probably the best US Dirt trainer ever....trained three of the best horses in the last 20 years (Justify, Arrogate and American Pharoah) and in that time he has won the Triple Crown twice....the more he wins, the more his haters hate....
Best in knowing withdrawal times of drugs and use of synthetic drugs and betamethasone ointment and hay with toxic weeds in it that no other horses become sick or post positive from eating.

You need to research a little better. The rules at the time stated that only the injectable version was banned and he never used that, he treated a rash cream, genius. Furthermore, now HISA is in effect and every Baffert "overage" would not even register under their guidelines. You are also wrong, there was a horse DQ last century over bute in the Derby. I Had Cavonnier to win 100 times; outside of Ruffian going down _this was the sadist day of my racing experience.
What a great interview. I feel like I really know Bob Baffert now. Always felt he's the greatest horse trainer. Heard he has a special fondness for Silver Charm - I would say that applies equally to American Pharaoh.
He's not the greatest.
Wayne Luken had winners. Never had to drug them.
Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons a great trainer.
Dropping a horse to ensure winning isn't great. You never abuse a horse to gain money.
@dianemanson7756, Bob loves Silver Charm. He often visits him at _Old Friends Retirement Farm_ in Kentucky. Anyone can go there and take a tour or donate or both. ❤

Churchill Downs has revealed they are extending the suspension of trainer Bob Baffert.
In a statement released on Monday, the company said the suspension will go through calendar year 2024 based on “continued concerns regarding the threat to the safety and integrity of racing he poses to Churchill Downs-owned race tracks.” They said Baffert continues to “peddle a false narrative” when it comes to the failed drug test of Medina Spirit at Kentucky Derby 147. The horse was disqualified by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission after he tested positive for betamethasone.
Baffert claimed the drug was in an ointment used to treat a skin condition and said it was such a small amount that it wouldn’t have changed the horse’s performance. Prior to that race, Mr. Baffert signed an agreement with Churchill Downs which stated that he was responsible for understanding the rules of racing in Kentucky and that he would abide by them. The results of the tests clearly show that he did not comply, and his ongoing conduct reveals his continued disregard for the rules and regulations that ensure horse and jockey safety, as well as the integrity and fairness of the races conducted at our facilities. "A trainer who is unwilling to accept responsibility for multiple drug test failures in our highest-profile races cannot be trusted to avoid future misconduct,” Churchill Downs Inc. said in the statement. This move would make Baffert ineligible for the 150th Kentucky Derby.
A judge ruled against Baffert in late May (2023) in his lawsuit against Churchill Downs. He had argued his suspension from the track and its properties had devalued his training license.
Baffert released a statement via Twitter addressing the suspension extension.
"I am at a loss to understand Churchill Downs' latest action to suspend me. From the moment I learned of Medina Spirit's post-race positive -- now more than two years ago -- I committed to find out how it could have occurred, given that we had never injected Medina Spirit's joints with betamethasone, which the veterinary records confirm. A review of our treatment records showed we used a topical ointment called Otomax for a skin infection, and post-race testing of the sample confirmed the positive test came from a topical application.
Renowned horse trainer Bob Baffert has dropped his appeal relating to his horse's disqualification a few years ago. According to a social media post, Baffert said he's instructed his attorneys to drop the appeal of Medina Spirit's disqualification from the 2021 Kentucky Derby. He said himself and Amr Zedan "have decided that it is best to positively focus on the present and future that our great sport offers."
"We thank the [Kentucky Horse Racing Commission] and Churchill Downs for listening and considering our point of view and we are grateful for the changes and clarity that [Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority] brings to our sport," Baffert said.
I have been open, honest and forthcoming about these events. I have acknowledged that our treatment led to the positive test, and I informed the Kentucky Racing Commission that we had treated Medina Spirit this way.
*I have been advised by my attorneys that the use of Otomax is permitted under the rules, and this issue is presently being adjudicated by the Racing Commission in a case presently before them.* In no way does this involve a "disregard for the rules." In the interests of the sport we all love, I have made no public comments on this unfortunate episode for an extended period of time, so the suggestion that I 'continue to peddle a false narrative' is patently false."

Good interview, Bob is great for racing, great results.
He's the best! Not only an excellent trainer- horseman but genuine & fun!
The broken horses left in this guys wake!
Trained for me a great guy !
Great doper trainer.
Coming from quarter horse to be the best trainer❤
Probably the best US Dirt trainer ever....trained three of the best horses in the last 20 years (Justify, Arrogate and American Pharoah) and in that time he has won the Triple Crown twice....the more he wins, the more his haters hate....
Wayne Lukus was a great trainer. And didn't drope his horses.
Best in knowing withdrawal times of drugs and use of synthetic drugs and betamethasone ointment and hay with toxic weeds in it that no other horses become sick or post positive from eating.
@@equine2020 Lukas was a crook and doesn't come close to matching Baffert's success. If he was so great, why the banishment from California and the immediate slide into obscurity?

There's no sportsmanship in drugging the horses. Just for greed.
He had a couple die under his care.
A disgrace to racing.
@@equine2020 He's not the only trainer to lose horses. In June of 2023, Churchill Downs had to transfer all of its racing to another racetrack because they had twelve fatalities in one month. Don't just post crap, especially when you don't know what you're talking about. 💩 💩 💩

@@equine2020 Don't forget jockey Gary Stevens and the trainer D. Wayne Lukas - laughing and exchanging stories about their experiences with electrical devices earlier in their careers. Gary was supposedly only 16 years old, and has expressed embarrassment over using a buzzer. D. Wayne Lukas was 28, with the exception of some suspensions for doping, which he claimed were unintentional, it would be almost impossible to find a trainer, owner, or jockey with a squeaky clean record. Whenever money is involved with animals, especially sports, it would be a hard find to see things done 100% by the book. Its a shame the stance Churchill Downs has taken against this living legend.
And you are wrong again, as Orb failed his Derby test but since Shug and Orbs owners are powerful in Kentucky they covered it up
