I blame the track judges for the injury. They had a horse who had obviously not settled down. (They put him in the drug barn due to the fact that there were chances of drugging with the trainer.) The horse threw his bucket across the aisle. (told by a reporter when the story was first leaked, quickly removed). Horses who are used to stalls and are usually settled in their stalls don't do that. The trainer wanted the horse to settle in another stall outside the drug barn, the stewards refused, the horse injured himself a few days later. That's a helluva coincidence.
It's still a tragedy that in a 20 horse field, in the sloppiest conditions you could ever imagine, that they took Maximum Security down. The reason there had NEVER been a DQ in the Derby is because in a 20 horse field, lots of sh!t happens. It was simply a horse race. He should have been crowned the winner. Shameful.
I sort of agree! There has been so much worse to occur in the derby (even in racing in general, check out the 2011 Santa Anita Handicap during the stretch) where the results stayed the same. I was actually at the derby and everyone in the crowd was booing. I was so upset because Maximum Security was my pick and it was such an incredible feeling picking the winner in person. However, with all that has happened with Jason Servis, I am glad he was taken down so we aren't dealing with that controversy if he should be taken down as the winner over a year later. It is definitely not Maximum Security's fault what his trainer did to him but there is no question that he would have never won the derby if he was not on the drugs he was on :/
Witnessed the triple crown finish in 2015 at Belmont park! and now going to see for all fans via t.v. that Tiz the law wins the KY derby at 1:59.31 to set the race record previously held by Secretariat. Tiz the law....respect the law in a year of a global pandemic where we will never forget the affliction and sadness this year has had on us all! Ruffian was also amazing. She was undefeated. Secretariat wasn't. Man o war in my opinion was also a great horse. So for me, those two were better than secretariat, so was seabiscuit.

He's my favorite cause of how confident and composed he was waiting till the last bend/corner to hit the jets and just power his way to the lead and cruise to victory. Such a beautiful handsome horse

Now that I took the time to analyze the 2019 KD, now I definitely see the reason why it was a disqualification. I guess in the racing industry that kind of move is illegal, whether we're racing cars, dirt bikes, or any 2/4 wheel vehicle out there. (With dirt bikes, those kinds of moves are common)
