    Question. Why use of the the whole number sound.
    One platoon two platoon instead of first and second?

      First it's the military way in keeping things simple.
      Why 3rd 4th 5th when you could simply count 1,2,3,4,5?
      As well, if you call the platoons first, second, and third, etc. you are suggesting an order of precedence or seniority among them when in fact there is none and the numbers are just there to nominalize them.

      One Platoon is a name whereas '1st Platoon' is an indicator.
      Example 1:
      "Two Platoon will be the first Platoon to right wheel. One Platoon will be the first Platoon to left wheel."
      Example 2:
      "One Platoon will be the first Platoon to eat breakfast".
      The number alone denotes the name;
      The number with an ordinal indicator (the letters after a number) could be assigned to any of the numbered named platoons.
      Hope this helps!

      It’s mostly for standard voice procedure for communications
      Ze-ro, wun, too, tree, fow-er, fife, six, sev-en, ait & niner
      This is the phonetic number system that’s used with the phonetic alphabet (alpha, bravo, charlie etc)
