David Wadsworth- Not always but at least 21 days. An other three weeks in the summer and a week in March and other random days throughout the year. It’s a good go!
Combat Eng is a brutal trade course. Just be in some semblance of shape and you'll be fine. It was harder when I was there 2 years ago, and even then the worst thing was ruck marches. They've slashed the warrior challenge by half, and made everything easier, including the obstacle course which now all have cargo nets. They didn't when I went through the first time and I took a 15 foot plummet, hitting every rung of the obstacle on the way. Dislocated a couple ribs from my spine, bruised sternum and mild contusion around my spine near the dislocation. Made it another 8 weeks, before my body gave out on me. Spent 6 months there in total, 5 months in BC, now posted to Halifax as a Naval Communicator for over a year. The travel in the navy is amazing, it's wearing on the body, from lack of sleep, but so worth it, and now I'm on a Naval Boarding Party course. Of course there's also your element training, which is a blast in the navy. So much fun.
Combat Engineer here. Basic, Soldier Qualification, and DP1 qualified all in 9 months. Don't worry about basic, it's a joke. Worry about your DP1 - it's absolutely bananas. I probably shouldn't repeat some of the things they did to us on our trade course as a lot of it isn't allowed - and we were the "soft" course! Be the fittest person in the room, always, and try to prepare for not sleeping a whole bunch. Attention to detail to pass inspections is also important. Ask me anything. Chimo! (you'll learn what that means if you go through with it.)
Fitness is huge in any military that can't be over stated. As another poster said, "be the fittest person in the room" but I would also suggest don't come in first in anything (except grades) unless there is a reward. Stay in the middle of the pack or a little better. That way you won't get anyone's attention. If you come in first in something physical they will expect it and if you aren't feeling great one day they'll say you're being lazy. And certainly DO NOT come in last in anything or you will REALLY get some individual, undivided attention from your cadre. The absolute best case scenario is NO ONE knows your name by the end.
Watching videos like this, late at night, makes me want to throw my name into the hat before I get too old. My new goal is to become the oldest CF recruit. Farting dust and taking memes, err, names.
Im in boot camp now and I’m 25 years old there are a few 40 years old...but it’s rlly hard bootcamp both physically and mentally so be prepared. They treat us worst than is shown on TV lol
Very interesting. The PT test was the shuttle..my experiance of the CFRS Cornwallis was 1.5 Miler push ups and setups. Never the less, a standard is implemented. I have done many different recruit courses from Regular CFRS Cornwallis in the '90s, to Army and Naval Reserves after the Cornwallis School closed. what I see are same thing different ways. Basically one learns how to serve--The motto of the Recruit School--Learn To Serve!
the worst idea the Canadian Military ever had was to have all branches of service do the same BMT. I did mine with PPCLI Infantry instructors because I was Infantry, but that was a long time ago. The Navy, the Airforce and the Army have different standards, and they should have there own BMT, but then again I went through "Battle School" not BMT so I'm just a dinosaur remembering the good old days

Going for Basic in Winter is better then summer, in winter its better to freeze your ass off, while doing the march walks, which you get warmer cause your so sweaty, then melting into a puddle in summer when its 40C out :) One thing that helped me and my buddies before we joined is, we used to go out for hike's 4 times a week for 2 weeks carrying 100 lbs worth of gear in mountain hikeing paths, 23.4km 5 hours it took us each day, if you do that then 13.2km will be nothing and you will have easier time completeing the other BMQ physicals :)
the most air force shit I can even imagine Trying to explain how having your hair even 4cm away from your head makes it tuggable. then on the express test is standing in the balcony.
I just applied to the reserves. They had me fill out a ton of health questions. The questionnaire will be turned over to a doctor, and I guess they will determine. Best to call a recruiter imho. If they dont know than just apply and see.
You can release at any time. If you don’t wanna be the there they’ll pull you out before you have a chance to be a shit bird ruining things for the platoon.
Canadian troops have a long heritage of bravery and determination in combat. The idea of standardized basic training for air, land and sea forces is a great idea, but SO much of this is a joke compared to U.S. Army and U.S.M.C. boot camp. And the idea that they can choose to quit because it is "too hard" is crazy too. Overall, very interesting to watch.
I think letting the quitters go is a better way. Much cheaper overall. Best to weed them out before they even join. My unit, back in the day, kept dud rounds who wanted to quit. Made them serve their contracts. We had a guy who would hiss like Gollum when asked to do anything. Oxygen thieves and quitters are bad for morale.
I had to stay there for a whole year for my course that was in quebec, they were too cheap to get us hotels lol! Saw some pretty hilarious stuff and got saluted alot because my aviator rank at the time looked like an officer's bar. Nothing more annoying then getting forced to go outside due to a "fire drill" at 3 am when you are supposed to be doing a full-time course in a college near st jean.
If you’re asking if Army recruits on the platoon get inspected more than navy or airforce. I can tell you that no they do not. Everyone on the platoon receives the same amount of inspections. Everything you do is together all the time
Holy hell, I'm Canadian and I have never heard someone authentically say "aboot" until today 😂😂

Ooooo. I want a guitar at basic. Lol. I can't wait for this to be my life
Supposedly you can sign them out but they can’t leave the mega
I'm only in Army Cadets but one thing I can say is that the shuttle run, especially feels like living hell
I'm interested in joining as a Combat Engineer. Aside from fitness, is there anything I can do to further prepare myself for BMQ? Thanks :)
Do what they want, when they want, how they want. Shut your mouth and don't volunteer for anything. This was told to me and it helped me.
BMQ is a breeze, its sucks ass when youre there but after week 5 get some poontang off of base and get wasted every weekend
Apply today
Im in boot camp now and I’m 25 years old there are a few 40 years old...but it’s rlly hard bootcamp both physically and mentally so be prepared. They treat us worst than is shown on TV lol
Watching this was torture
Why
Very interesting. The PT test was the shuttle..my experiance of the CFRS Cornwallis was 1.5 Miler push ups and setups. Never the less, a standard is implemented. I have done many different recruit courses from Regular CFRS Cornwallis in the '90s, to Army and Naval Reserves after the Cornwallis School closed. what I see are same thing different ways. Basically one learns how to serve--The motto of the Recruit School--Learn To Serve!
Man that lady that quit after 11 years good on ya !!!!
Every single one touched the hand rails... smh
Never touch the railings in St.Jean ....place is breeding grounds for flu bugs
Oh Shit really
Bro that beep test gave me PTSD ples don't remind me
Haha.' Last uniform you'll ever wear"
Don't worry buddy... you'll "grow " out of it lmfao.
Derek McNulty can you please elaborate
Uniroyal Mish how long did you last?
Uniroyal Mish thank you for your service. Any tips for me to prepare for infantry?
Uniroyal Mish thanks for the tips!
@Uniroyal Mish oops. Man i feelnyour pain
the worst idea the Canadian Military ever had was to have all branches of service do the same BMT. I did mine with PPCLI Infantry instructors because I was Infantry, but that was a long time ago. The Navy, the Airforce and the Army have different standards, and they should have there own BMT, but then again I went through "Battle School" not BMT so I'm just a dinosaur remembering the good old days
I agree dude. There is no reason for us to do bmq with airforce stewards. I did bmq in Saint Jean, and it was a joke, I did dp1 (battle school in Shilo with 2vp, where I was posted.
@@dillonhillier I was back in the "BTT, TQ1, TQ2" terms days. And I didn't like when they took away my FN and gave me a c7, I liked the FN better even if it was a heavy son of a bitch to hump around all day, especially the c2. Oh the "good old days" LOL. I remember when the Iltis' and the Bombardier MLVW'S were brand new and I still have my '82 pattern ruck and webbing LOL
@@elmartillo7931I was in much later 09 to 14, the fn was sweet, but the C7A2 is also a great weapon. Now, I will say, the first version you got was probably crap. After I left the cf I went to Iraq and fought with the kurds, I had an m16a1 in my first engagement, it was awful.
@@dillonhillier yes the original roll out of the c7 was garbage. but apparently they worked The kinks out of it pretty good by the time you guys got it. I got out in 1993
@@dillonhillier thanks for your service brother cheers it was nice to chat with you
I've been waiting since march for the word to start, thanks coronavirus
biggest prob i had during 13k march was the guys was too slow in front which made it more difficult.
Thats ridiculous, why would you want to lug winter kit around with you ;-O its a trap!
Remember on your BMQ to ask questions like "do we also need to bring X". Love that fucking guy lmao
Its kind’ve hard doing training because during the winter the air is thinner..... And it gets really fucking hard to breathe at times.
the most air force shit I can even imagine Trying to explain how having your hair even 4cm away from your head makes it tuggable. then on the express test is standing in the balcony.
that older lady starting out so late in life and toughing through injury. Whatever you say of her, she's got spirit in scads!
Pvt Biovin 42. Forty f ing two!
its weird to watch a video about a place im at right now but they had changed it to 8 weeks recently
21:32 someone didn't get the memo
So is BMQ for all the branches, and then after that they go to their branch specific training?
Colin Johnson yes
US sergeants seem to be tougher or may be it's just for camera.
I love join the army but there is something that I need to know and that is I have to take medicine every morning, so that not gonna be a problem?
I just applied to the reserves. They had me fill out a ton of health questions. The questionnaire will be turned over to a doctor, and I guess they will determine.
Best to call a recruiter imho. If they dont know than just apply and see.
Can you pull out of the Canadian armed forces boot camp? Can't do that in America.
You can put in for a release after I believe 4 or 5 weeks. It may have changed now as BMQ has been shortened to 9 weeks instead of 12.
You can release at any time. If you don’t wanna be the there they’ll pull you out before you have a chance to be a shit bird ruining things for the platoon.
Yes you can in the US as well wtf are you talking about. In Canada it also takes time to get it approved before you can actually leave
I completed BMOQ mod 1 last summer. Not looking forward to going back :/
In my last week here at CFLRS right now; graduating on 11/25/22. If anyone has questions about the training, feel free to ask.
Well how was it?
Bro said ask questions and never replied lmao
Can't wait to join the reserves in a month and 8 days
The moustache tho
The security had bashed my head of thee wall and blatantly punched me bloody
Just wait I'm going to join the army just watch I'm giving my self one year and half to get ready but I'll make it
joining as soon as I’m old enough
Join a good fucking trade
0:30 this is what I’m talking aboot😂
“this is what i’m talking aboot”
Compared to Basic Training in the US Army this is a cake walk!
nobody is going to grab your hair lol
Starting BMQ Jan 14, 2019!
isabrinia78 how was it
Matt Foley no one knows. these people who say they’re going never reply so they’re all probably dead
@@GrandMasterMacethis is so true
I’m joining tomorrow Oct 2019
Good luck
Wish you well!
Good luck
Good luck buddy, the most important part is ensuring you don't get hurt. Especially during week 7 & 9 (farmhan). What week are you now?
@@zwtslt hey leaving tmr, what do you mean farmhan what can happen in those weeks?
Oh my the fucking beep test, my worst high school experience
Gad this is embarrassing to watch. No wonder we had to RETRAIN recruits from StJean when we got them for SQ. WATC
heading for BMQ this Oct 29 2018.. anybody else in this batch? Im excited
Me too! see you there lol
We will have 3 weeks off too for the holidays
I'm doing this as a 16 year old. I'm so fucking excited.
Lookit this airforce dude talking about close quarters battle. lol.
When did they start allowing fucking guitars on basic. Lol.
Hello, great content! Any worries if I react to some of your videos?
I heard that the Army has the most inspections. Is this true?
If you’re asking if Army recruits on the platoon get inspected more than navy or airforce. I can tell you that no they do not. Everyone on the platoon receives the same amount of inspections. Everything you do is together all the time
No Farnham??
