lyrics:
What was that sound ringing around your brain?
Today was just a blur, you've got a head like a ghost train
What was that sound ringing around your brain?
You're here on your own who you gonna find to blame?
You're the outcast, you're the underclass
But you don't care, because you're living fast
You're the uninvited guest who stays 'till the end
I know you've got a problem that the devil sends
You think they're talking 'bout you but you don't know who
I'll be scraping your life from the sole of my shoe tonight
Bring it on down, bring it down for me
Your head's in a fish tank
Your body and your mind can't breath
Bring it on down, bring it down for me
Your head's in a fish tank
Your body and your mind can't breath
You're the outcast, you're the underclass
But you don't care, because you're living fast
You're the uninvited guest who stays 'till the end
I know you've got a problem that the devil sends
You think they're talking 'bout you but you don't know who
I'll be scraping their lives from the sole of my shoe tonight

Incredible how laid back this version is, its a bit of a toe tapper whereas the album version makes you want to burn your house down
This sounds like everyone at the party has put their coat on the speakers. Owen's they had their coat and gone home!!
That's good news U are so much better now
I'm not going to say anything
Good
Whos here from the James Hargreaves video?
yep 😀
Me
Yeah I am
Right here, haha.
Yup
So empty and dates sounding compared to the original, which is timeless.
Robert Writes It still should've been included in the Deluxe Edition.
It’s a demo ffs!
@@richdukes9632 it isn't, it's from the first attempt of recording defiantly maybe which they abandoned cause it weren't good enough
Before Liam became LIAM.
it's worth remembering that "Bring It On Down" was supposed to be the DEBUT single for Oasis, by all early accounts. I am sure after McGee heard this version of it, he was sure this was NOT it. This version of Bring It On Down sounds like overproduced late 1980s rock and it is devoid of any energy at all. No wonder the Monmow sessions were abandeoned!
Sounds like every live version of this song, not loud enough 😆
there's something amazing about this. it's like Oasis got the 1974 studio Aerosmith treatment. sure the album version is way better, but its fascinating to hear it in this context.
It does sound very 1970s Aerosmith. Especially the drum mix. I couldn’t put my finger on it.
If they released this version of the album, they would not be where they are today. Dont get me wrong, this is a good version, but not a chance as good as the official release.
All the arguments people have made as to why this got scrapped, like “thin”, “no attack” and “weak” are on full display here. No wonder this got rerecorded.
Sounds like it's inside out.
I have no idea what this means but at the same time it’s so spot on😂
We're hearing it from the inside.
I thought it was upside down tbf 😂
I like the vocals, you can tell the production mixing and mastering were not upto what Mcgee envisiged
Well there's the difference between run of the mill 90s indie band and smash hit.
Really goes to show what a proper mix can do to a track
they definently wouldn't be become what they became with this sound, but this is really good also
Sounds like a tiny indie band on a tiny label in the early 90s.
I like it, but this was never going to sell big. Nothing like.
Thank you for uploading this and making my life a little bit rockier.
Ino what you doing
Funny how the piano's already there.
Thanks for the upload
This doesn't have the energy of the release version of biod, there's a reason it was rejected, would be interesting to hear what the rest of the original take of definitely maybe sounded like tho.
Are any of the other Dave Batchelor recordings out there?
Sounds more like the Charlatans in this recording than Oasis
This album would have flopped so heavily with this production haha, still fascinating to hear
Not a patch on the punky original.
This came first though. It's from the first time they tried to record Definitely Maybe.
@@キラキラくりくり頭 I don't doubt it came first. The other is the original for me though, haha.
@@mikejenkins4924 yeah, I get what you mean.
no bottom end
This isn't great I can see why Noel wasn't happy.
I understand so insanely well why noel hated this recording,i would be pretty furious myself!
Noel wanted to release this. McGee had to convince him not to
The problem is it's all too central, There is no stereo going on. everything is in the centre.
EPIC!❤
Sounds awful glad it got rejected
We are very lucky to hear what edits and rerecordings do to tracks we like/love. Helps future creators and producers. These guys worked hard to make a great song. That is fundamental. Make the effort and you could create something new and meaningful. Go for it ❤
God bless OWEN MORRIS OH MY DAYS
Christ this mix sounds pony. No energy in this mix at all
The drums are all over the shop timing wise.
Definitely not Biblical
Dj we r us left god bless im making sure i have a song💯🙏✍️
Oasis use a lot less distortion then I thought
Slightly scoped mids, low gain, high volume. The distortion does not come from the gain part of the amplifier, but from the power part. This type of distortion was typical of the 60s and early 70s. Marshall amps also had feedback loops which re-amplifies part of the single leaving the power amp. So the guitar will create a lot of feedback effects will still sounding clean.
BIBLICAL
Cheers for uploading mate, you got a recording of Slide Away from that session?
The recording of Slide Away from this session is on Definitely Maybe. It's the only song that made it.
@@OperationBlueprint James taught you
@@iamthenarwal9559 Haha I have literally just watched the video. That's why I'm here. But I did already know 👍 James is whipping up a brilliant sub community of Oasis.
I'm fairly confident though Owen Morris said the only problem with this was that Liam's vocals were a little week so I think the album version has different vocals.
What guitar is bonehead playing in the image there
Dave Scott's SG
I've just gone back and listened to the album version. I'll be honest and say that I always found 'Bring it on Down' to be the weakest track on 'Definitely Maybe' because, to me, it sounded like too much going on with the guitars fighting with the vocals for space. The Monnow Valley version really strips it bare and you can actually hear all elements of the song, including, dare I say it, the drums. The drums really drive the tune, and It has a Stooges 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' feel to it'.
Did you write that exact thing on reddit somewhere? I 100% read the phrase "guitars fighting with the vocals for space" somewhere else entirely today.
@@DJ-ov2it Haha, no, I posted it on James Hargreaves' channel, so you might have read it on there? His most recent video is about the infighting between Tony McCarroll and Noel Gallagher and it was something he mentioned in that video that brought me to this video.
@@diond1333 yup that must be it. I just watched that video haha. n1
This version sounds flat as a pancake though. No forward momentum.
I don't agree with it being the weakest song on dm, that will always be digsys dinner imo. But it's all subjective
I like this version...more air
This is what U call best m8 ok not worth a light half mine r yea shit yea
U not a mate
What who start it all the time ski
What shall be will be but U not staying with me yea no worries forever again why I been told Sean
Don't worry about it then
I never really liked the original but I LOVE this version
Wrong way round imo, I like this version but the DM versions a lot better, more punky and in ur face, and it’s oasis at their best
@@zakdawson1673 yeah I agree now, I recently got the vinyl and Bring It On Down sounds fucking impeccable
Most bands want to sell more than 1 album despite the saying. If my music yadda yadda.........
Can’t be the only one that prefers this
The production is here is beyond bad
Bad Basically 👎
It's some going on stoppan
Of it do wo
All in the mix. Owen probably could have used same method to make this sound unreal too?
The recording is not saveable by mixing. The drums wander in timing.
If you can show me a timestamp where it goes out of time, I will believe you. That's a myth. Harshly treated imo
@@andrew6978could've rerecorded them, also owen admitted he turned up the gain and volume on everything to hide the sloppy drum and guitar playing
