I took Iboga (total alkaloid) approximately 8 years ago.
It is not for the faint hearted, and you will need to take a week off in total. You can’t do it in a weekend as, firstly, you will miss 2 and a half nights sleep, then there will be 1-3 “grey days” wherein you might feel very vulnerable. I will document my experience soon.

  • @loscheiner

I’m a hospice nurse (and one day, a Nurse Practitioner). I’m very interested in training to provide psychedelic therapies at end-of-life. The medicine can be used both for the patient and for the community- both deserve the opportunity to find meaning in the end-of-life experience. Psychedelics like MDMA or psilocybin may aid in acute symptom management such as depression, whereas traditional antidepressants may take weeks to keep in - weeks that the patient may not have due to a terminal prognosis.

2-CD was one of my favorites way back when. It's relatively short acting, mostly what I'd call an emodelic (emotion manifesting), and seems to be user-friendly in that the dose/response curve is relatively flat.
Also, did you mention that semi-synthetic ibogaine is also available from voacangine? The latter can be collected from Voacanga species which are much easier to cultivate than Tabernanthe iboga AFAIK.

Iboga seems to affect gene expression and the most obvious effect is hair growth and testosterone/ muscle strength.

Oh my god, thank you for sharing this experience. Please, I _need_ to know more. I'm obsessed with kappa opioid agonism. I've been wanting to interview someone, anyone, who has experience with chronic KOR agonism.
I believe there is a good chance that KOR agonists may be the perfect mood-brightener. This is because KOR is known for causing dysphoria, and I believe one rapidly develops tolerance to this effect. I believe that it upregulates the opioid/dopamine system, and I think that this is why it works so well in treating physical addiction.
So, my question for you is, how do you feel? Has it made you happier over time? Do you feel best right after you take the dose, or do you feel better as the drug wears off? Is it possible you're better off now, having taken opioids, because it led you to discover iboga?
FYI, there are other KOR agonists out there that may be cheaper. I'm currently looking into enadoline; it's a research chemical, so my understanding is that it is a legal grey area, though I'm no legal expert. I can say more if you're interested.

A comment on synthetics. Maria Sabina, the renowned mushroom shamaness of Mexico, was quoted by Albert Hoffman saying about the psilocin tablets "“When we left, María Sabina told us that these tablets really contained the spirit of the mushrooms.” In the case of mushrooms/psilocybin, the synthetics seem to have a strong seal of approval. Amazing interview and exploration. Other than travel, I don't think anyone gets a "cultural education" consisting of an analysis of "these are the protocols our cult uses to define itself by spending time, money and resources and this is the sustainable well-being generated for it's people" and comparing the protocols of different cults to one another with a focus on the well-being yielded per unit of energy invested. When Hamilton talks about youtube demonetizing xenon for euphoria and monetizing zenon for entertainment, we have a window into the cult hierarchy of values, without anyone spelling things out. A cultural education consists of understanding the paradigms, value hierarchies and memes of a cult from inception to the present day - and how those tie in with the experiences of that cult as it evolved over time. In cold climates with 3' of January snow one has to get off one's butt in July and voluntarily induce discomfort by cutting and drying wood to survive the isolation induced by 3' of snow six months later. "Pain will keep you alive," is a reasonable derivative. "Seeking pleasure will kill you" is another. In tropical climates with abundant food there is less of this natural feedback loop and ecstasy may be more welcome.
I'd love to see a cult hereditary tree. We have all seen ancestral trees showing how this family and that family diverged from one another over time. We often don't see trees of mental memes, showing the intersection of cult and natural ecology as things that shape the hierarchy of values and lead to ideas evolving over time. It is utterly insane to punish people for seeking euphoria for no other reason than that it is euphoric. However, as a crude moral, spontaneous sex without a condom can lead to a decade of misery if there is no container for a child and spontaneous spending of credit for fun can lead to a decade of debt and high interest rates. It would be great to see a map of 10,000 years showing the waning and waxing of value hierarchies and what happened to tip the balance in one way or another. For example, in the present day, if one works really hard and makes lots of money and is educated and has a respectable job, it's fine to be a playboy and drink and appropriate to "take some time off." But if one does a few odd jobs, is a playboy all the time and does not get a degree and lives in a bamboo hut one is "irresponsible." Joseph Campbell did some great research along these lines, showing how religions evolved from one another and incorporated myths. It would be so great to see how and why the institutions of our cult are constructed.

    I'll supervise your mom's setting.
great show, Hamilton is the successor to Sasha, and I love the open discussions, even if I feel they're being "allowed", but... look most "luminaries" I know of had a breakthrough tripping balls alone, my first trip was over a ounce of good dried fruit bodies that still has my soul quaking after all these years, and an "authority" over set and setting would have skewed something I had to do for myself. Be safe, therapeutic facilitators are beautiful for wanting to help, I have nothing against folk who would choose to work in that way. There's just too much discussion around allowing this with clinical oversight, and I hope alot more people will remember that this is their own life, and no one has that power of allowance over them, except by the gun, and chains. If we get too open minded, it becomes hard to monitor the sanctity of that space. there is an inherent vulnerability concurrent with many altered states, and someone seems to want to "allow" society these experiences again, within a framework which has a distinct potential to give them a molding hand, on the subconscious growth of spirituality, in the coming zeitgeist. Traditional teachers, and old ways, have been erased, or archived under the Vatican and Smithsonian. Now, magic has been unsupressed, people recognize ywhw, lung, Thunderbird, and quetzlcotl, for dragon's, and there are 7 billion minds, totally tabula rasa, befuddled by Babylon, yearning to learn, and accustomed to being told what they believe. "Theraputic set and setting coadministered with psychedelia", a powerful tool in uncertain times
Edit: Hamilton has always praised cultural context, I typically hear the therapy line being said to him, less then by him, and I don't mean to imply it's without merit in any way

I would never do mushrooms anywhere but alone in a completely dark room. All the hiking & nature shit people do seems so insane to me. That’s the last thing I would do. Alone in the dark is always incredible and there’s very little room for a bad experience, it forces you inward instead of giggling at how the clouds are melting. Every time has been valuable, never once got had a bad experience, even on 7+ grams. The one and only time I did mushrooms in another setting with another person present was absolutely horrifying and the reason I haven’t done it again, and that was at a waterfall with a good friend. Awful awful awful experience.

I've got 100+ psilocybin trips under my belt... Many times at festivals, hanging with friends, camping, etc.. The most profound trips I've had were completely alone, laying down with my eyes closed. Terrence McKenna talks about the benefits of tripping alone. There's also a man you ought to check out on YT just search Kilindi Iyi. He's most known for taking very large doses of psilocybin in the 40+ gram range... which is brave to say the least. He talks about when tripping, if there is one other person in the room it's almost impossible to completely let go of your persona or ego. High dose trips alone with eyes closed completely removed my fear of death.

@@doodahman2995 you can definitely transition off with a high quality kratom. Happy Hippo is who I'd recommend. Mainly the "slow strains". Especially the ones called "Magic, Horned Rhino, Hulu" and a fast strain called "Hyper". Don't use both together at the same time or it won't work the way it needs to. Completely stop taking opiates or at least plan to pause the use for at least 8 hours before and after kratom. And if you do go back to opiates, take less. I'm really curious as HOW xenon could possibly have any effect on the mind or body. The only effect, I can imagine, that it would have, would be due its dilution of the amount of oxygen taken in with each breath. If it DOES get one high, I'd think that argon would have the same effect. I might try Ar. I have a cylinder of it, for use with my TIG welder.

He is 4, which accounts for its raising of a voice's pitch.
