Hey Shelby,Love your videos and would loooove to drive for you!!! I drive a road train,it’s a rigid truck and trailer…65ft long…there is a crane mounted on the chassis too…I travel between Ireland and the UK by ferry too,4 hour journey,it’s great fun!!! Also have traveled across mainland Europe in a truck…great to see your excitement and wonder in every video!!! 👍🇮🇪

I’m not a trucker, but I’ve lived in Washington State for the last 27 years. Having lived in 18 states, I love Washington the most. And the San Juan Islands? One of the most beautiful places on earth. And then there is the what you felt... Riding one of the San Juan ferries is an awesome experience. When Marianne and I want to get away, our favorite trip is to the San Juans. Being on a ferry for even a few minutes refreshes the soul, expands the mind, and reminds you that “life is good”. The excitement that you showed is what most of us feel when we ride those ferries! Welcome aboard! Dan.
Keep bringing us your happiness, enthusiasm, love, smile & positive attributes to the industry, community & world to see. Enjoy the trip & have a safe Christmas...
Well after being in the trucking industry for over 30 years, and thinking that I have been everywhere, and seen everything, thank you for proving me wrong! Hammer down!!
OK so if you ever want to go on another ferry for your 18 wheeler there is another ferry in Texas that goes from bolivar Island over to Galveston or from Galveston over to bolivar Island and it is paid for by the state of Texas it does not cost you anything it’s free if you ever have a chance to get down that way they will take a loaded or empty 18 wheeler across it’s about a 15 to 20 minute boat ride.. (just a heads up!)
That was cool. I haven't had the chance to do that. But I was able to drive my truck underground in the caves in Springfield and Carthage, Missouri. The great thing about Trucking is just when you think you have seen and done it all something new comes along. I learn something new everyday in this trucking world.
In my 22 years of driving I found that there's always a new adventure around the next bend in the road or just over the next hill. Just when you think you've seen it all, something else will truly amaze you. Keep 'em rolling, Shel - and keep doing what you're doing because you're doing it right. Love you much! 💖💖💖
I'm with you, I love taking ferries. I grew up in Washington, but live in SoCal now. What's really fun is taking my motorcycle on the WA ferries. We get to go all the way to the front of the line even when we're last through the gate. First on - first off. Exploring the ferry is a blast. Thanks for sharing your appreciation for life and your travels with us.
I'm not a trucker anymore but drove a truck for nearly twenty years before rectal cancer disabled me. I got to get on ferry in Port Aransas Tx in a big truck like you did. Even though that ferry crossing is like 2 miles where I got on it, it was still an awesome experience. I love watching your videos and I hope women get inspired by women like you and crush that glass ceiling and do everything a man can do in male dominated industry. I'm very impressed with how you work. Safe travels and God bless you.
Shelby, this was a great video. You never know where the next adventure will be. That's what really makes your job exciting for sure. Thanks for sharing Shelby and stay safe.....

I have a 17' sailboat and in 2009 I got to spend 3 weeks with about 15 other boats of the same brand as mine touring the San Juan Islands. It was one of the best times I have ever had. Still have the boat and hope to do it again sometime. Those ferries mean business and don't stop for anyone, so we had to be on out toes to keep clear of them. I take it you landed at Friday Harbor, a cool little town! Hopefully your next trip you will have more daylight to enjoy the great views!
Was fun to watch your excitement, I’ve taken a 48ft trailer to whidbey island every week for 7years. When the wind is really blowing the Ferry will rock up and down. And water will come in halfway to the middle of the boat.
My brother is a truck driver, driving everything from asphalt trucks to buses, and especially when he was driving the milk truck he'd go out to the islands near where we lived, so he'd take the ferry in the morning, do his business, and return in the afternoon. For us "out there" it was quite routine, though I do understand how it's special for you. One thing that was particularly annoying was if he was held up at the island for whatever reason and missed the ferry, as after the afternoon one the next one was the next morning. There are stores there and he had friends on them he could visit so it wasn't too bad, mostly annoying. He also had a stash of things in his truck for this very reason, even though he came home almost every day :-)
Some boats you have to reverse onto, thats an experience too! Love love love going on boats! I have a favourite video my dad took of me reversing into a space on the boat to Dublin from last year, i was super nervous but smashed it without having to use any shuts! 👌🏻
I love you so much. I have been looking into driving a truck for years. I am 17 years old so i though i would start out learning young but due to your videos my dream is coming true.
Back in the 70's we took the Ferry from Seattle to Victoria, then on to Vancouver, and then back to Victoria, and on to Seattle. It was so AWESOME as a young child..
Hi Sweetie, Gramps from Ft. Worth here! Years ago while on vacation down to the coast, we took a 30' ft. motorhome onto the ferry from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass, which wasn't too far, but while we were on it, the bay was real choppy, and the motorhome did a 40° degrees, which gave me nightmares in the daylight, because those farries down there are notorious for tapping over, and sinking! But we got lucky, and made it across to the other side!... Babygirl, you take care, and stay safe! Love always, Gramps 🫠🥰💖
For us who live in Scandinavia ferries was the only way to get to the rest of Europe earlier, now things have change with all new bridges, well new they are some years now but going to East Europe ferry was the quickest way.
I can relate. For 5 years I peddled freight to Vancouver Island for a hardware chain. I'd start in Sydney, just east of Victoria, then up the island to Port Hardy, back to Comox, over to the mainland and down the Sunshine Coast. It was 2 days and 5 ferry rides, ranging in size from the biggest in the fleet to a small one that only fit 3 trucks. I LOVED that run, and would still be there, if only the company had survived. Happy Trucking.
When I run the Outer Banks run in NC, I ride a ferry ⛴ from Cape Hatteras to Okracoke Island. I usually do it pulling a pup but sometimes a 48’ van. It’s a one hour ferry ⛴ ride each way.
Shelby's next channel, "Happiness by the Ferry." :) The west coast is pretty spectacular with all the islands and beautiful ferry rides that make you appreciate nature.
I am not a trucker but found your video popup in my You Tube feed. I am happy I did. I find you engaging. I too am on the small side 5foot, female, 66 born in Seattle. I like that u were able to extract yourself from your traditional education path and really explore your love/fascination for trucking. I am extremely fascinated in how well u pursued a less traditional career path for someone of your size. Like I said, we are similar in height. But my size also didn't keep me from pursuing my interested. Unless I am standing in front of a mirror, I never let my size stop me from pursuing non traditional career paths..And as long as I knew what I was talking about, I found that I was accepted regardless of my gender. I am 65 and still learning new things. It's what makes life intresting. Merry Christmas.
Nice! Always love a ferry ride when I’m in the area! I used to live in the Seattle area so rode them on occasion. If you have time I highly recommend doing a ride in the summer. I did that as a walk on passenger (no car) last time I was there; not sure if they allow that now because of COVID
I lived in the Seattle area for over two years and loved all of the experiences of travel in the area. My work allowed me the ability to get very familiar with the area. A memory that I have was everyone rushing to the ferry and waiting in line to load, but no one seemed stressed!
I wish I would have went to the island, I delivered Samsung TVs to Costco in Washington it was Thanksgiving and I got stuck there for a week Costco warehouse was packed, 🤒
You have such a great personality! Never taken a truck on a ferry but my wife and i took our 38ft Diesel pusher motor home on the ferry from NB to NS and we were just as excited! Couldn't wipe the smile off our faces for the whole trip. Great to see you enjoying every moment of your journeys. Stay safe out there, it's a crazy world sometimes!
Sometimes after a long week on the road I get kind of sick of trucking. Then I get a sweet run and get to explore a new place and remember why I got into this field. Keep on exploring!
Shelby, Around 1980 I was driving for a big grocery distributor out of Syracuse, NY, and got to ride the ferry (in the winter) across Lake Champlain. What a trip! I could feel the ferry nudging up against blocks of ice as we crossed the nearly frozen lake. Yes, indeed, all these years later I still recall it. Fondly I might add.
@@AmberResells Shelby is so much fun to watch. It's especially interesting because I have absolutely no interest in trucking, lol! So cool to see you here, Amber! 😊
I have been seriously considering trucking lately. Your videos, from among a great many trucker youtubers, are extremely informative and entertaining - actually helpful info and not negative, angry ranting. Watching your videos has enabled me to envision trucking realistically, as in, "if this person can do it so can I." And that's nothing to do with gender, but rather because of your demeanor and attitude while working such a serious and potentially dangerous job.
Great Video - Taking your theme of "How Islanders Get Their Packages" there is one more stage in your process in some island locations. In the summer months my wife is the mail/freight person on the US Mailboat on Lake Winnepesaukee in New Hampshire - when FedEx, UPS, DHS, USPS need to get packages and mail to island residents she does the "last mile" of the journey you are describing. She works on a 70+ foot long vessel with a skipper and deckhand to operate the vessel but she receives and delivers the goodies!
I'm in Santa Barbara, Ca... The Company I worked for we had a contract from the Navy to haul their demolition from Santa Cruz Island off the Coast 26 miles from Main Land. We rode in a Barge made for one truck only. Over an hour trip both ways. Then Drove on the Island to Pick up a 40' Roll off container. That was cool also!
About 35 years ago, I went up to Port Angeles, Wa. and one of the bridges across some body of water over there had a problem and I had to take a ferry. I had a 7 axle truck and trailer and was grossing 101,000#. The ferry didn't look that big. Had to go down a small ramp to get on the ferry. I was waiting for the end of the ferry to start to sink as I drive onto it. Didn't even move. Took that weight like it was nothing. Maybe a half hour ride. A few years later I took a set of doubles loaded with empty wine bottles on a ferry up to Victoria, BC. They drop you off in the town square. That was about a 3-4 hour ride, I believe.
Hello from New Zealand! Where the only way to get a vehicle between our two islands (North and South) is by ferry, there are two ferry companies running 2-3 ships each (Interislander and Bluebridge) and they run constantly back and forth 24/7. It’s fun! Truck drivers get discounts on food and drinks and there’s a separate lounge and coffee machine for them, some just sleep in their cabs because the journey takes about 3.5 hours. Great video!
@xheralt I'm well aware of how crucial air pressure is. I pull doubles for FedEx Ground as well and drive the same make and model truck that Shelby drives (Freightliner Cascadia) although mine is a 2018. A common problem with the new Freightliners is FALSE low air pressure warnings. You'll be driving along and the alarm will go off and you'll look down and the air pressure gauge is normal (110-120 psi). At least three of our trucks do that. We've taken them to Freightliner and they've been unable to determine what causes the problem or how to fix it. It's been really annoying.
Great to see you so excited and full of energy, so happy for you Shelby. I have not found this excitement in my life yet and I'm only getting older lol. Love your videos keep them coming, love from Canada.
@@Ryan-yo4dg we haven’t. FedEx is supposedly getting loads to Alaska next year and you bet your biscuits we will grab a load up there when they let us lol.
My best memory+ OTR trucking was on a run from St. Louis to California. A huge thunderstorm over the Texas panhandle on I40 west toward Tucumcari, NM. No visibility and about 45mph across Texas west from Amarillo. But somewhere near the west end of the wind farms (which is kinda cool to see the whole landscape blinking in unison) the storm broke and the full Moon rose slowly directly over Tucumcari. It was one of the toughest and most beautiful runs I ever took. Now I drive a municipal bus for Tahoe Transportation District and get to see gorgeous sunrises, snow capped mountains, serene vistas and green pastures every day. I couldn't ask for better! Great content! and have a safe drive! Maybe some more footage of the beauty to be seen across America?
"Just the two of you?" I thought, how cute. She counted the dog...clearly forgetting the camera person. Sorry, guy. I've been alone with my dog too long.
About 10 years ago I took the ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, Long Island, NY in my Freightliner Classic XL with a 51' step deck moving van. Went over the night before, delivered in the morning and then returned in the morning fog. Very cool. I had been on ferries with 6-wheelers before but that was the only time I've had a trailer on one. Love your videos, Shelby!! Keep it up!
I live on Vancouver Island in BC. Taking the ferries is just part of regular life. It is super fun to see your excitement about something we just take for granted. I usually just have a nap in my truck. It really is kinda like a mini cruise and the time I'm on the ferry I'm going to get out and appreciate the scenery. Stay safe!
I grew up on Whidbey Island and if you ever get time, you and Dakota should drive up and see all the Islands in the Puget Sound. Most of the ferries have walk-on passengers so you guessed correctly. Traveling on the Puget Sound ferries at dawn and dusk are the best times because its so beautiful but its also the busiest time to travel on those ferries. Thanks for all the great content.
It is so refreshing to see a woman truck driver (I know there are lots of them around) doing a blog of life on the road. I used to be a truck driver myself and was one of the first female drivers on the East Coast of the US. I drove locally delivering eggs in the Tri-state area and did 4 years cross country with a company called JB Hunt out of Arkansas. I will definitely be watching your videos and reliving that experience through your eyes. Love the videos x

I love your enthusiasm and appreciation for adventure which had me smiling through this entire video. You reminded me of a child in "Ferryland". Pardon the pun but I could not resist. You are the best and BKM is one lucky dude.
I must admit that you really do enjoy driving for a living, its so nice to see the passion you put into your job! I've been behind the wheel of one of these things for 30 years now, i haven't seen the dedication & passion you have for quite awhile. This industry needs more people with your dedication & safety! You go girl, we need more like you in this business!
I have done the ferry too! I also had my German Shepherd with me. It is a cool thing. I was a O/O for 20 years . Now I'm local hauling Chips in Oregon. Driving 32 years. Love watching your videos. Your a damn good Driver. Keep it up...
I've dumped soil on a barge that was not even big enough for my truck and pup to fit on. Had to make sure you were centre. That was cool. Always fun to do something different and interesting.
This is the BEST, you brought tears to my eyes today. While you were on the ferry if you looked north you would have seen my home, called Lummi Island. I just tested my CDL tests and received my permit. Looking forward to the days ahead and watching more of your video’s (I started with your one and I’m working my way through them all).
We used to go on Staten Island ferry with car sometimes with the car or without the car. After 9-11-2001, no more cars allowed. It was a nice ride. Enjoy your ferry with the truck. It must be fun with the truck, and your dog, and friend.
I have to remind myself that people who are not from the Seattle area are not familiar with ferries especially ours ! I had the same reaction the first time I rode mine as a small child. Back in the day they had Cafe's in the galley and games to play. The memories. Welcome to Washington !
Welcome to my home state of Washington. Getting on and off the ferries can be a bit baffling for newbies and tourists. The ferries are part of the hiway system, come under Wa st. DOT.
I am so happy to see your excitement. I took a ferry out to Vancouver Island to deliver a load of water treatment chemical. It cost Trimac $430.00 x 2 for the delivery. I missed the coming back ferry so I spent the night in the parking lot at the get on for the going back to Seattle boat. I almost got to go out to New Foundland on a ferry, but the load was cancelled because of weather. Be safe.
I used to run tankers.....watching the ship open up for you !! Wow!! Then driving on it & unloading then do a uturn & drive off !! Wow !! Thanks for the drive Shelby !! Drive safe Girl !!
Yes.....loved this trip! Probably my favorite as well!!! Seems the light in your eyes, says "this is fun excitement!!!" I've never seen you look this beautiful🌻👍
Those ferries around the San Juan area are so much fun. When you're in a car it's much cheaper, like $30. And they go all over, not just to the San Juan islands but over to Victoria, Canada too, which is a really fun little town to explore for a day or two. There's also a lot of hiking and nature out there. That area is a temperate rain forest after all.
We love you Shelby love seeing you happy and your life keeps getting better and better tell your cameraman hi and your dog Dakota he's a very good boy and so well behaved and happy keep bringing awesome joyful content and doing everything you enjoy that makes you happy
When I truck around the sound or the Olympic Peninsula I love listening to the Canadian Radio Stations which come in strong off the waters from Victoria & Vancouver just because its a neat thing you don't normally get to hear.

I could feel the ferry nudging up against blocks of ice as we crossed the nearly frozen lake. Yes, indeed, all these years later I still recall it. Fondly I might add.
You're on a ferry! 😊 Looks like a beautiful location.
Hi Jody! This is one of my favorite channels to watch too! I had to stop to say hello.
@@AmberResells Shelby is so much fun to watch. It's especially interesting because I have absolutely no interest in trucking, lol! So cool to see you here, Amber! 😊
The san Juan islands and orcas islands in the very north west tip of watching state
I have been seriously considering trucking lately.
Hope your staying safe love the vids keep up the good work
Great Video - Taking your theme of "How Islanders Get Their Packages" there is one more stage in your process in some island locations.
Merry Christmas!!!
That area of Washington is one of my favorites in the country.
Beautiful island, I wanna go there sometime with my girlfriend
Hello from New Zealand! Where the only way to get a vehicle between our two islands (North and South) is by ferry, there are two ferry companies running 2-3 ships each (Interislander and Bluebridge) and they run constantly back and forth 24/7. It’s fun! Truck drivers get discounts on food and drinks and there’s a separate lounge and coffee machine for them, some just sleep in their cabs because the journey takes about 3.5 hours.
Great video!
Those low air pressure warnings are like nails on a chalkboard, aren't they? 😂
@xheralt In fact, the new Freightliners have been so problematic that my contractor is currently in the process of replacing all of them with Volvos.
Great to see you so excited and full of energy, so happy for you Shelby. I have not found this excitement in my life yet and I'm only getting older lol. Love your videos keep them coming, love from Canada.
That’s the kind of question that pops up in my mind at 3am
😂
@@ShelbyHBTM have you brought a load to Alaska?
@@Ryan-yo4dg we haven’t. FedEx is supposedly getting loads to Alaska next year and you bet your biscuits we will grab a load up there when they let us lol.
@@socal87border ooooh exciting, that would be a video to watch!
Sorry, guy. I've been alone with my dog too long.
she said yes and the dog
About 10 years ago I took the ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, Long Island, NY in my Freightliner Classic XL with a 51' step deck moving van. Went over the night before, delivered in the morning and then returned in the morning fog. Very cool. I had been on ferries with 6-wheelers before but that was the only time I've had a trailer on one. Love your videos, Shelby!! Keep it up!
1st comment 👍🤘❤️ love your video always 👍❤️
I live on Vancouver Island in BC. Taking the ferries is just part of regular life. It is super fun to see your excitement about something we just take for granted. I usually just have a nap in my truck. It really is kinda like a mini cruise and the time I'm on the ferry I'm going to get out and appreciate the scenery. Stay safe!
Very wet truck drivers, of course!
Love the videos x
hi, i'm not a trucker but my brother was for 13 years. he even brought me with him a couple of times so i love that i found your youtube! good luck with everything !! thanks for bringing us all along for the ride..you, Dakota and BKM stay say safe out there !!!
I love your enthusiasm and appreciation for adventure which had me smiling through this entire video. You reminded me of a child in "Ferryland". Pardon the pun but I could not resist. You are the best and BKM is one lucky dude.
Very cool, Shelby!
Thanks for sharing the funnnn!
Hugs for Dakota!
Shelby you have no idea how much I enjoy your videos, thank you for share your daily life. God bless you and protect you always.
Working with my company I’ve found out I actually love delivering Seattle. One of the best things in Trucking is we can do everything.
Thank you for the video. Love your video's! Keep the Sunny side up, & The Dirty Side down!
Ferries are always fun and you get to see things you normally don't get to see from the water!
12:16. Those are very weird cloud formations. Great video young lady!
I love going on the ferries. I've gone out of Seattle, Edmonds, Mukilteo, Anacortes , and some other places.
If u r so excited about the boat ride u should try the tunnel from France to uk or even the train line that connects the same way
Such a great adventure! Thank you for taking us along.
I really enjoy how genuine you are. It's refreshing.
Yes.....loved this trip! Probably my favorite as well!!! Seems the light in your eyes, says "this is fun excitement!!!" I've never seen you look this
beautiful🌻👍
My first time with my truck on a ferry was from Zeebrugge Belgium to Hull England. Took 14 hours. Had the time of my life
Those ferries around the San Juan area are so much fun.
I love your enthusiasm over your occupation as a Trucker
When I truck around the sound or the Olympic Peninsula I love listening to the Canadian Radio Stations which come in strong off the waters from Victoria & Vancouver just because its a neat thing you don't normally get to hear.
