- The search and rescues continue into Monday morning Multiple law enforcement agencies could be seen in full force making their way over the bridge on San Carlos Boulevard onto Fort Myers Beach.

Totally horrible. Material things are not important. Hope many people would have courage and rest to handle the heartaches. Prayers lifted up.
Wonder why they turned away the IN National Guard after they got down??? Sure looks like could of used somewhere.
This is no longer a rescue operation... it is a recovery operation.
And if it is a rescue operation, why did it take so long?
There's now 100 dead and they're STILL rescuing along the St. Johns river, but on a positive note,
21,781,097 people survived, not counting Tourists and Illegals.
I pray 🙏in JESUS name that all the dogs and cats and all the domestic animals are safe and healthy and didn't lose there homes and family❤😇

My prayers to everyone in Florida who affected by the hurricane Ian, we got hit by hurricane Laura two years ago, the whole town thousand of houses had blue tarps after the storm.

My prayers go to the homeless and the low income families the elderly and the animals. Terrible tragedy. Heartbreaking. So many more still missing. I've been around hurricanes since the 1960's and I would never "ride out the storm", especially one packing 150mph winds. That's insanity. Such a senseless preventable loss of life
Why in the world did these people stay? Category four hurricane is barreling towards the coastline... there is no predictable path so get out of its way!!!
Didn't have the money like us ...maybe they stayed behind for the elderly . My husband had work the day before and we have pets and hardly any money do to Covid and our morgage.

That would be funny Floridians trying to flee trying to migrate somewhere safe. And just a few weeks ago the same state paid millions of dollars to make immigrant family's lives more difficult they also were fleeing they also were trying to find somewhere safe. Luckily DeSantis was able to fly out the Immigrant families before the storm hit
@@tet7497 I had elderly parents. They're not incapable of physically moving around. Give me an example of why the elderly couldn't leave. Even if your wheelchair bound and somehow live alone, local communities would help you get out. If your husband had work the day before, you leave when you're finished and take your pets with you. Shelters were allowing pets also. I live check to check. I don't have to worry about paying my electric bill if I'm dead do I? Utilities and mortgage companies will absolutely work with you in a crisis like this. The bottom line is Floridian's thought they could ride it out and there wouldn't be a consequence. Hopefully the consequence was trauma or loss of property versus death and I'm not being facetious. That's a huge roll of the dice and some paid the ultimate price of losing.

They are too vulnerable to be thrown around. Many lower income peoples way of retiring but it’s not working out. Anything to escape colder climates. I would not live in that state.

Remember Michael. Everyone was anticipating a Cat 2-3 to hit Panama City. My family was going to ride it out, but with the storm picking up unexpected speed as it hurled toward the coast, my family barely evacuated at the 11th hour when it became apparent that the forecasts were wrong and Michael was now a Cat 5 monster. Six years and Panama City is still not back the way it was.
I am praying for everyone. My heart breaks for for all those communities.

I have family in Cape Coral and they did fine, but even a block away is devastation. They are doing curb pickup. They don't have drinkable tap water or electricity back, but they have plenty of bottled water and a generator.
I'm sorry for all the victims and those who must now find a way to survive. But c'mon -- with very few exceptions -- everyone had adequate information and updates available in order to make the ultimate decision whether to LEAVE OR STAY.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is/was a major factor here.
Whether deciding for one's self, or family/friends, the weather radar maps told us LEAVING WAS THE BEST OPTION.
THis bridge is GOING to COLLAPSE soon BECAUSE IT is fully eroded.

no one knows that... people still shouldn't try to stay there, though, now because a lot of health problems could arise, dysentery , mold, mildew growing, plumbing, water issues....they should temporarily move and come back later when there is a bit more normality returning, water, plumbing, electricity running for some time... but for the time being they should make other living arrangements.
These barrier islands look like excellent places to build prisons for those doing life sentences. Sea level and single story would let nature execute justice.
My heart goes out to each and every one I wish i had the means to help you out but i don't all i can do is pro for you each and every family

The army/government is on air signals with law enforcement that should help with search and rescue...especially since the air signal should be able to hear people or know they are there...

This was supposed to hit Tampa and it shifted at the last minute. They had 24 hours to move. No one saw the extent of damage coming. I worked on that beach for 13 years. It’s easy to be an armchair judge using hindsight, please stop it.
Not to mention there are a lot of people who can't afford to evacuate. This storm was also huge. The largest to hit mainland u.s.
