    So...given that I don't have access to (nor would I use if I did have access) any legally shot polar bear...any suggestions for alternatives? Having never worked with polar bear, not really sure of its properties. Was thinking buck tail, artic fox, squirrel tail, etc. Thanks for you thoughts!

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  5 лет назад +1

      Lyle Beckwith all mentioned materials would do just as Well.. it is just to give the illusion of the feelers a shrimp has and also to ballance it in the water.. bucktail might even do a better job because it has air inside the hair.. 😊

    The tie is great, the use of polar bear is not. If we support the idea of catch and release and protection of our rivers and oceans then we must not kill wild animals in the pursuit of our sport. Please consider re-posting your fly with an alternate material that fits with the ethos of fly fishing and the protection of our natural resources.

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  6 лет назад +2

      Derrick Beling Thanks for your comment derrick! Im pretty shure that they dont kill any polar Bears just for the sake of some fur to tie flies from.. 😅

    • @rogerdewhurst5750
      @rogerdewhurst5750 6 лет назад +2

      The bear could have been shot quite lawfully any time within a century

    • @williegunn
      @williegunn 5 лет назад

      Polar bears die naturally. Don’t think for one minute that someone is shooting polar bears to provide materials for the flytying industry.
