    I have lost of how many times that I have cut it parted my thread over my 36 years of tying flies… you just adjust and move on just like you did.
    This will be my today project for a red fishing trip I have at the end of this month. Thank you for sharing… I love simple fast tying patterns

      Eivind Berulfsen Thanks for watching and commenting my friend! Yeah ill have to admit that one doesnt really need the flies with Bells and whistles.. they look good though and if you love tying flies like me and you the extra time it takes just adds to the fun i Think!

      @@daniellarsen3618 i take just normal mono and melt the ends till it beads up, then let it cool and paint them black with some nail polish. Hope this helps🤙

    I wonder about getting this fly down. Do you ever add a small dumbbell under the hook eye? Love the pattern!

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  2 года назад +1

      I almost never add weight to my flies. I let the line or the thickness of hook wire decide how deep i want the fly to get. :-) That way the fly well hover in the water.

  • @jerrykells8956
    @jerrykells8956 Год назад +1

    Could you tie this inverted so it is less likely to snag the bottom

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  Год назад

      Yes, you´d just had to add either some dumbell eyes or some wire on the side you want to face down. :-)

    Solid shrimp! Any particular reason you prefer the veevus over other brands?

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  5 лет назад +1

      No not really - its just the best one my dealer has.. But it is brilliant i have to say.. I use the 30D for dryflies as well.. So thin and strong..

    What thread are you using? And what makes the fly sink? Probably a stupid question but I'm fairly new to fly tying.

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  5 лет назад +1

      The hook will make the fly sink slowly.. You could add weight to the fly but i fish an intermediate line so tha will pull the fly under to the depth i fish in.. :-) the thread is from veevus..

    • @Coastfly

      That is a dubbing brush i made myself.. Basically some velcro on a peace of metal.. :-)
