    23:50 not every fly has to be a fast ty, especially if you like fly tying like me.....classic!!!!! I always try to make them fast. You here these guys in these videos 'you can make this fly under 3 minutes. I always butch it when I thinik you're not suppose to take longer than that. I'm going salt water fishin next month!! And I'm gonna get your material list and take my time. beautiful pattern fella. thanks for sharing.

      Ernie Walker i always take my time.. But i know someone Will rather tie super fast.. But i enjoy the tying just as Much as the fishing so i dont mind sitting a few hours behind the vise.. Others watch a movie or read a book.. same same..

    In response to the start of the video, when you mention the appeal of pink to sea trout, I would suggest the colour triggers a feed response to Krill. Just a suggestion.

      Just use a substitute hackle for spey hackles or a big normal hackle. Will be slightly shorter but works fine too :)

    • @sindreandersen95

    I often wonder about the boiled shrimp colors as well. Maybe we should fish them in a 2 or 3 fly rig; the trailing flys being a lemon and a cocktail sauce imitation. I guess it would be hard to keep everything from tangling up in the currents and tide. But you're right in the winter, pink and orange is a great combo. In spring, summer and fall I also fish a black and oliveish body; either I keep the pink legs, or switch to orange. Good tip on the shell attachment, thanks.

    • @KGPBDKNIGHT
      @KGPBDKNIGHT 4 года назад +1

      Claus Eriksen has tried every color combination of this fly and as he says the pink is the winner both in winter, spring, summer, and fall but but when there is some UV in the "org. pattegris color" the fish will take the UV one 85% of the time no matter what other colors the trailing fly is ;-)

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  4 года назад

      Maybe dip the flies in cocktail sauce? I would probably eat Them myself then.. 🤷🏼‍♂️😅

    Great shrimp pattern. I like the way you are a little messy. Have you ever tried flashabou for that last body wrap, to give it a little glimmer? These colors and pattern types work great on the Gulf Coast here in Texas. I use a lot of synthetic fibers like SF and EP but I have been wanting to add more marabou to my saltwater flies. This has been a great tutorial for me to incorporate them. Thanks and keep them coming.

    • @Coastfly
      @Coastfly  4 года назад

      Thanks! No i usually dont use a lot of flash in my flies because it seems to have the opposite effect on seatrouts here.. Also this fly is super Fluorescent so no need to give it more bells or whistles.. 😅 Thanks for tuning in!

    • @snakesurfcustomfishingrods5821
      @snakesurfcustomfishingrods5821 4 года назад +1

      @@Coastfly Thanks for the response. On the part of the coast I am on the water here is a bit tainted with sand so a little flash helps but in skinny water, same here with timid fish.

    • @Coastfly

      Lance Schreckenbach i actually switch to Black flies in murky water... Works Wonders around here! 😊

    • @snakesurfcustomfishingrods5821
      @snakesurfcustomfishingrods5821 4 года назад

      @@Coastfly For us clear water is about 2 foot of visibility so the flash will work good for that but I will start out with dark colors in really murky waters and flies that will create more of a pressure wave (thicker or blunt near the eye) when retrieved through the water.

    Would a whiting hen spey cape work the same way as the rooster spey cape?

    • @Coastfly

      Yes! The hen feathers are a bit smaller though so you might not get as many size 4’s out of a hen Cape.. 😊👍🏻
