Get the most sales possible there and yes they probably had around this kind of date in mind to say something at least about the Nintendo Direct of Switch 2. They might not have changed much, but probably they did change something because of all those leaks. Hard to ignore that all the hardcore public knows what you are going to announce. Lucky for them they care more for the casual players, that are by far the most and they probably didn't care or looked for the leaks much.
I remember so many years ago that loads of us said the biggest missed opportunity for the Switch was no Mario Kart and that they waited too long to release MK8Deluxe. They obviously knew this because once MK8D was released, that was the moment the Switch became a best seller and consistent too. It was in the top ten best selling games of the month every month from release up until Switch 2 reveal.
Yeah, most likely April 2nd they’ll reveal the final release date and the launch lineup of games. I see it launching in June. That’ll give them the whole summer and fall leading up to holiday 2025 for some BIG sales pushes!

When the joycons are sliding on the table, it's really nice how it reminds us of actual mice (the animal). The cords become the tails and the R2/L2 buttons are the ears. It's 100% showing us that the joycon can double as a mouse for some games as the leakers said.

The switch’s joycons had a tendency to slide off after a few months because the spring wore down, the switch 2 used magnets and fits in sideways so that shouldn’t be a problem. As long as it works at the start, the magnets shouldn’t be less effective in 30 years.
I think it’s because it’s not a darker stache so it makes you squint to make sure it’s there, and when you lean in to look closer all of a sudden……WOWZA HELLO! There is indeed a fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar there waiting to catch you off guard and ready to pounce.
The only thing I get from these leaks is that Nintendo have basically had the Switch 2 pretty much ready for reveal at least since start of 2024 because the majority of the leaks we got in 2024 were spot on, especially pertaining accessories which tends to be the last things that companies do before a release. So it stands to reason that if accessory leaks were mostly correct for 2024, then the hardware has been ready for reveal since start of 2024.
One of the biggest reasons the wii u was ignored by the casual audience was it's weird name and concept. Nobody could tell it was a proper sequel to the Wii. It just looked like a new controller for the existing Wii or an upgraded model of the existing Wii. Nintendo Switch 2 being the name shows that they learned their lesson and they want no mistake that it's a successor
Yep, Nintendo finally realized simple naming is best. Not to mention, I could see Nintendo keeping the "Switch" brand indefinitely, similar to Apple or Samsung's product lines. "Super Nintendo Switch" would have been a cool name for hardcore Nintendo fans but you know damn well mainstream consumers would have thought that name was too "childish".
i dont think casuals will even upgrade to this they will look at it and say its just a better switch 1 and not see the need buy it. Will need lots of good exclusive games to bring them in new mario kart, animal crossing etc

I saw a tweet the other day pointing out that each car in the trailer for Mario kart, has a gas tank on it. So maybe the gimmick this time is that you need to fill gas during the race. seems cool

Im still happy and blown away regardless all the leaks and rumors. What Nintendo showed us in this short trailer is only 10% of what we know about it so far. There's still 90% of the console especially the joy-con we don't know about. Those joy-con controllers are capable of alot more than meets the eye. Nintendo will get in depth about what Those joy-con controller are truly capable of and the console in April 2 in their presentation. Nothing really hasn't been spoiled as much as most people think with all these leaks including this trailer.

I love how I’ve seen comments where people are complaining it’s too similar to the switch. Aren’t most consoles pretty much the same but with upgraded features? It’s bigger, better resolution, faster, better feel and quality. This is what a successor should be. Sure Nintendo typically changes a lot between systems but why not just improve on the best thing they’ve released?
The coating on the inside: it's not just decoration, it's functional. If it's using magnets to attach the joycons to the system, it's gonna need some sorta rubbery substance for the impact shock because you can see just how fast they snap on due to the magnetism. Meaning those are some strong magnets.
Man, considering that, all the potential rare earth being funneled into the Switch 2 manufacture better not up the suggested price or cause supply issues.
Worth noting that April 2 is the date of the Nintendo Direct, which will go into more detail. The hand on experiences are currently scheduled all the way through to June 1st, with a couple still TBC.

Concerns: 1) Game case color - if it's red it might be confusing 2) Scalpers - I WANNA BUY THIS DAY 1 ! 3) BC incompatibility goes further than labo etc - I want all my games to work ... not just first party titles.
It’s probably games like the Labo and Ring Fit, since the joy cons are bigger they won’t fit in the old ring. I doubt 3rd party games are all going to be shot. It would completely ruin the backwards compatibility claim.
1. most likely they will have different colors combo's for each case 2. scalpers were a huge problem durning covid when barely anyone was going outside and were buying online, I would imagine that this is no longer the case and nintendo has made enough to curb scalping 3. the creator misspoke, it does indeed have a IR camera on it, meaning the majority of games will be playable, I assume the exceptions are labo and ring fit
For 2) they have been making switch 2 for a while now to ensure there was enough 3) all your online games will transfer and as long as the physical didnt rely on the switch 1 gimmic it should work

I think all anyone really wants is just 30FPS. I got nier and yakuza, they are fine ports, I dont even super care about new textures etc, a 60FPS mode for them would make me happy.
Nobody is talking about the New Mario Kart having 24 starting positions. We can see 14 racers right as the Switch 2 turns around, including Paulina and the new Donkey Kong model.

My son was not born when the switch launched and it’s my favorite console of all time and with him about to be 6 when this thing comes out we’re gonna play the heck out of some new Mario kart and I cannot wait for it!!!!

I think it's more likely to be around June or July for the release. Given the hands on previews go from April to early June depending on the region, I assume they end just a little bit before the release

It's a cool name but from a marketing perspective, it has the same problem as the Wii U where it sounds more like an upgraded version of the same system, rather than a new console.
Nintendo is the only company who drops a hardware reveal in 2025 with no information, and gameplay that looks like it came from the Wii U. Not only that, but obscuring hardware features that have been leaked for months already. I’m sure the Switch 2 will be great, but this reveal was dreadful. Their comms and marketing teams fumbled this so badly. And now we wait three months before they release any more information?

The wii played GameCube, wii u played all old wii games, the switch obviously couldn't because it dropped the disc drive but it was a hybrid portable/home console and look at their handheld history the GBA played all GB and GBC, The DS played GBA games including up to the original 3DS, and the new 3DS still played all DS games. Also didn't a version the super famicom have a slot for regular famicom games? It's basically part of Nintendo's DNA to make backwards compatibility happen.
Holiday 2025 before Black Friday likely mid ish November, pretty much every new console launch happens around that time with the occasional exception (like the Switch coming out earlier due to the Wii Us failure)

Yeah! Like maybe you can drive to your next race picking up items along the way? Cruise around with friends to other tracks? Drive to shops? I think it will be a very different Mario Kart experience than we're used to.
Nintendo should add a case that has glass in front or something, just something people can use to see the screen and nintendo should add an idle mode like apple. When charging at an angle it shows the time or something, maybe a wallpaper ect!
People who complain about this reveal felt underwhealming. Well, that's one of the many problems with leaks. These RUclipsrs can't stop reporting the hundreds of leaks/rumors, giving these leakers more power. Stop following and giving attention to leakers. Honestly I disagree with your take about the leak thing, this trailer probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for the leaks, meaning we would get NOTHING from nintendo until april, the leaks were what kept the interest alive to me, it made it honestly more hype, seeing people more heavily speculate and talk about it instead of being in the dark for nearly a year. Can leaks kill the hype, absolutely, there are plenty of examples of that, but in this case, it didn't, because it felt like there wasn't any without them.
this trailer was always going to happen, nothing to do with the leaks. April would've been after the deadline they set for themselves last year, when they said they'd have something to show before the end of "this fiscal year".
Agree that this is exactly what the current Switch community wants... My concern with that is that Nintendo have rarely ever worried about what the current prevailing trends are and instead try things that are creative and innovative, which is why we end up with great, innovative but unpopular consoles like the Wii U and great, innovative and wildly successful consoles like the Switch.

Not everyone! I don't pay attention to leaks at all! Only look, listen, and trust it when Nintendo says it! So I knew nothing, and this was BIG news to me!
The few things I want from the switch 2 on launch is that you can just get streaming services on launch I feel like more people use it than they think and it took too long to have RUclips or Crunchyroll onto it. Basic add but THEMES like the 3ds, I think that would add so much more character to the switch 2 being able to use my Nintendo points to get themes and make the switch more customizable and not so bland on the Home Screen. Mario Kart potentially coming on launch is honestly the only thing that would make people REALLY wanna get a swtich2 on launch, I personally just want to be able to stream videos or shows off launch because I don’t have a lot of hope for any big releases anytime soon after MK (but I wish to be pleasantly proven wrong)

I love how I’ve seen comments where people are complaining it’s too similar to the switch. Aren’t most consoles pretty much the same but with upgraded features? It’s bigger, better resolution, faster, better feel and quality. This is what a successor should be. Sure Nintendo typically changes a lot between systems but why not just improve on the best thing they’ve released?

The coating on the inside: it's not just decoration, it's functional. If it's using magnets to attach the joycons to the system, it's gonna need some sorta rubbery substance for the impact shock because you can see just how fast they snap on due to the magnetism. Meaning those are some strong magnets.
Man, considering that, all the potential rare earth being funneled into the Switch 2 manufacture better not up the suggested price or cause supply issues.

Worth noting that April 2 is the date of the Nintendo Direct, which will go into more detail. The hand on experiences are currently scheduled all the way through to June 1st, with a couple still TBC.

1) Game case color - if it's red it might be confusing
2) Scalpers - I WANNA BUY THIS DAY 1 !
3) BC incompatibility goes further than labo etc - I want all my games to work ... not just first party titles.
It’s probably games like the Labo and Ring Fit, since the joy cons are bigger they won’t fit in the old ring.
I doubt 3rd party games are all going to be shot. It would completely ruin the backwards compatibility claim.

2. scalpers were a huge problem durning covid when barely anyone was going outside and were buying online, I would imagine that this is no longer the case and nintendo has made enough to curb scalping
3. the creator misspoke, it does indeed have a IR camera on it, meaning the majority of games will be playable, I assume the exceptions are labo and ring fit
4. Graphical upgrade? In this climate I expect being able to play PC grade games, medium setting 60fps, docked

3) all your online games will transfer and as long as the physical didnt rely on the switch 1 gimmic it should work
@@WintrBorn Not to be super picky but it would be nice if it loaded up just as fast as the other games. I didn't like having to boot into "Wii mode" on the wii u. I think all anyone really wants is just 30FPS. I got nier and yakuza, they are fine ports, I dont even super care about new textures etc, a 60FPS mode for them would make me happy.

I think it's more likely to be around June or July for the release. Given the hands on previews go from April to early June depending on the region, I assume they end just a little bit before the release

Nintendo is the only company who drops a hardware reveal in 2025 with no information, and gameplay that looks like it came from the Wii U. Not only that, but obscuring hardware features that have been leaked for months already.
I’m sure the Switch 2 will be great, but this reveal was dreadful. Their comms and marketing teams fumbled this so badly. And now we wait three months before they release any more information?

The wii played GameCube, wii u played all old wii games, the switch obviously couldn't because it dropped the disc drive but it was a hybrid portable/home console and look at their handheld history the GBA played all GB and GBC, The DS played GBA games including up to the original 3DS, and the new 3DS still played all DS games. Also didn't a version the super famicom have a slot for regular famicom games? It's basically part of Nintendo's DNA to make backwards compatibility happen.

I like that you can more clearly see that the plastic parts of the wrist straps are hollowed out, making it feel like a big confirmation that they both will be able to be used like a computer mouse. Good news for left-handed folks!

It’s an Nvidia custom chip with power slightly lower than a ps4 pro, but it’s capable of DLSS and ray tracing. 12gb of ram. 1080p LCD screen. It also uses SD Card Express that might be as fast as SSD

People who complain about this reveal felt underwhealming. Well, that's one of the many problems with leaks. These RUclipsrs can't stop reporting the hundreds of leaks/rumors, giving these leakers more power. Stop following and giving attention to leakers. Just do what normal, sane people do, wait for the company to make the announcement, therefore making the reveal more exciting

Yeah I NEVER look into leaks, or even read/watch people covering any stuff that involves leaks (doesn't matter how authentic these leaks are). As I just don't agree with them, I'd much rather see the creators reveal what they want, in they the way they want it to, at the time they desire.

Honestly I disagree with your take about the leak thing, this trailer probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for the leaks, meaning we would get NOTHING from nintendo until april, the leaks were what kept the interest alive to me, it made it honestly more hype, seeing people more heavily speculate and talk about it instead of being in the dark for nearly a year. Can leaks kill the hype, absolutely, there are plenty of examples of that, but in this case, it didn't, because it felt like there wasn't any without them.

Agree that this is exactly what the current Switch community wants... My concern with that is that Nintendo have rarely ever worried about what the current prevailing trends are and instead try things that are creative and innovative, which is why we end up with great, innovative but unpopular consoles like the Wii U and great, innovative and wildly successful consoles like the Switch.

I have been avoiding all switch 2 leaks and it was all worth it
The few things I want from the switch 2 on launch is that you can just get streaming services on launch I feel like more people use it than they think and it took too long to have RUclips or Crunchyroll onto it. Basic add but THEMES like the 3ds, I think that would add so much more character to the switch 2 being able to use my Nintendo points to get themes and make the switch more customizable and not so bland on the Home Screen. Mario Kart potentially coming on launch is honestly the only thing that would make people REALLY wanna get a swtich2 on launch, I personally just want to be able to stream videos or shows off launch because I don’t have a lot of hope for any big releases anytime soon after MK (but I wish to be pleasantly proven wrong)
