I'm glad the UK has kept the modern big band tradition alive - we've kind of let it go here, in favor of... I don't know... mostly crap pop techno whatever - I guess I'm too old to appreciate the newer music.
Holy crap. That was excellent. I’ve heard about a million recordings of this piece and this is the first truly original reimagining of it that retains the original flavor while adding modern panache. Brilliant work, everyone.
Louis Dowdeswell has put together a top big band and Callum Au is an incredible arranger. It takes a lot of guts to take on some of the most iconic music and find new ways to express it and be successful.

I clapped at the end of Peter Long's solo, it was that edifying. I also love this new take on this legendary standard, taking it the song to new heights and not acting as a carbon copy of the original as great as that is.
