I thought it would've been cool if there was a "Team" mode, so you get randomly chosen as the "Chess master" and you only play the Chess part, but all your teammates choose a chess piece to play and they have to fight for you

Damn! That would be the most lit party game. What really fascinates me about this concept is that the fighting game aspect will completely transform the chess strategy. If you’re accounting for the likelihood of different captures being defended, totally different metas emerge. Imagine leaving your Queen hanging, but you know it is okay because the friend you having playing the Queen is a god tier fighting game player, and if your opponent makes the logical move to capture, you’ll beat them and turn the game around with what would ordinarily be considered bad chess strategy? I can’t wait to see the kind of matches this game creates! It is such a brilliant idea

The Fool's Mate for example: Is the opponent actually dumb, or is this a bait? And do you now risk it? 🤔 Lots to play with here lol
