There is nothing more ridiculous and meaningless than a pawn that is promoted to queen upon reaching the eighth square.
Visually, the pieces would look more distinct if the Knight was on a horse to mimic his piece in real-life. He looks a bit too similar to pawns. I'd also prefer seeing the pawns be shorter to mimic their pieces in real-life, which I know might make lining up the animations more awkward, but the game already does custom animations anyways, so it should be possible.
