I had my surgery a week ago, it’s true very little pain because u r numb. Numbness doesn’t go away for awhile. The hardest part is your diet and numbness, my opinion, but think of it your numbness is for brief time. I see my jaw profile (it’s corrective) and I am sooo happy I did it!!!! 😊
How much kg you lost by now?
Im really worried about permanent numbness. I’ve heard it’s a 50/50. Thanks for sharing
I’m getting it in a few weeks! I’m excited for my bite and new side profile but soooo nervous lol
@@fourx5317 how likely is permanent numbness actually? I thought that was only a very rare thing and that in most the cases it goes away fully after several months
Anyone want updates with my double Jaw Surgery overbite. I had done 25th May. Which is 11 days ago.
thank you so much for this info.. I had this surgery but my doctor didn't talk much about recovery. This has calmed me a lot! Spot on, thank you so much!!
Whoever about to do it it don’t hurt they will numb you just breath with your
Nose focus on breathing close your eyes and you will be fine God bless
Thank you answered a lot of questions I had
Thank you so much for this information!
Such a good explanation. Thank you doctor
Very well explaned. Thank you.
Had my upper and lower jaws repositioned the Monday after Thanksgiving. The doctor is spot on. Almost no pain post op. I spent three days in the hospital then went home (I had a low O2 count). As far as energy I was wiped out for about a week and half. I’m at the stage of using the rubber bands. Finally I can remove them to eat soft foods. Today I had pasta with eggs and salsa. Took me a good while to eat but it sure felt great.
Best explained so far I just had my jaw done spot on
Getting my surgery done tomorrow at Kaiser in Sacramento. (Upper jaw)
A very informative, simple & reassuring video. I've just had upper jaw surgery and am currently post op day 6, and everything said here is spot on.
how’s the numbness? im worried about permanent numbness if I do get this procedure
@@kriminull8461 going into week three. Still super pretty numb.
@@kriminull8461 and my pain was pretty substantial for week 1 and 2. Face is still pretty swollen as well.
@@isaacprachar6490 in how many days later swelling Fully goes down
I’m 4 weeks post op and I agree I didn’t have the pain that I was expecting. It’s just a very stiff / uncomfortable feeling and I’m freaking HUNGRY! 😂. I had double jaw surgery.
I will say I was very alert after anesthesia because of the steroid. My oral surgeon keeps us in the hospital up to 48hrs. I was Very tired for a while and had to use the riding carts if I went to store. I just returned to work this week.
How about numbness do u feel its getting better? Cause the most thing im scared of is that the numbness will be for ever
@@ibraheemsammour2992 I’m on week 5 post op and I can feel my top lip again but I can’t feel my chin and bottom lip still
@@Whitcho69 how are you doing now? I need updates
@@LaliLovesTacos it depends on the physical condition of each person, and have a significant percent that the feeling of the chin will be gone 4ver (if after 6-8 months it doesn't comeback) (my dr say the risk is 20%, the bsso for advancement will have higher risk of losing feeling than bsso for reduction). I'm in week 5, I would say the feeling of bottom lip and chin is back like 30%
How did you felt at 4 weeks after the surgery? I have a vacation booked 4 weeks after my surgery and I don't know what to expect😅
I'm excited, I hope my turns out well. My right side is much longer than my left so I'm ready to have a balanced jaw and not an uneven crooked face/head LOL
I'm at 4th week after BSSO. When should i back to work as a teacher?
Is this the same with IVRO technique? Pain etc
I have also done this surgery in 12 of sep 2023 wires removed ..my face forehead was so tired, numb ..what precautions should i do ...pllz tell me .,its urgent
If I need jaw surgery to correct an anterior open bite realistically what is the shortest possible time I would need to take off work?
I’m 6 weeks in and jus got
My wires removed now rubber bands but I have uncontrollable spasms non stop
This is actually the first I’ve heard about their being no or little pain. I’m very surprised.
I had this surgery. I think the worst part was the swelling of my lips. The pain of the teeth was more sensitivity than pain.
Im 4 days post op and i think it might be case by case for the pain cuz im in so much pain, painkillers arent even enough. I cant even sleep because of how much pain im in
@@malaikab3521 Oh no really? I’m getting close to being ready for surgery and I’m so afraid of the pain.
@@brandon248michigan i dont wanna scare you, but for me its very very painful. But i heard some people say that theirs didnt hurt at all (im guessing its depending on the nerve damage and the type of surgery). Even with the pain i dont regret having it tho cuz i know the pain i have right now will stop in a few days, and the results will be beneficial for the rest of my life. I just suggest you to be mentally ready to be in pain for a few days
@@malaikab3521 Oh the results are definitely beneficial and what make it worth it and you didn’t scare me but I am worried about the pain. It sucks you can’t know exactly what to expect because everyone is different. I hope your recovery goes smoothly!
I had my Jaw Surgery on my top and bottom, and love the results besides a deviated septum (incidental) and almost no feeling in my lips. Confidence went up 1000% however so if that’s what you want along with the risks, take it
That's great! But why didn't they fix your deviated septum at the same time??
@@kzfingerprint i could not tell you. Might’ve been broken before then exacerbated by the surgery.
Have to do an upper and lower jaw surgery tomorrow 👀
how’d it go? hope you’re doing well :)
@@mebibibi hey man, doing great it’s been already almost 5 months since the surgery
@@CRAZZYDAMBO137 amazing, great to hear
Anyone else experiencing nasal issues after their jaw surgery? It's been years, but I'm still having a hard time with breathing. Thankfully, I didn't experience any pain after recovery even though vicodin was prescribed to me.
I'm 1+ week post double jaw surgery. right after surgery and the whole week after I was in massive pain, because I didn't lose any sensation at all, there was almost 0 numbness. The doc said it was a good thing and I was quite lucky cuz my nerve endings are quite close to where the bone was cut so I would've had a moderate chance of losing sensation permanently, but that still doesn't take away my horror of a day 0 and day 1 experience. They gave me all the painkillers they could and I still couldn't sleep well for two days. As of now it's much better, and because I had no numbness I could drink from a straw instead of a syringe from day one so that was great. Can't wait for my hamster face to subside.
Did you have overbite or underbite.
Lmao, I drinken normally without a straw.
I was in a lot of pain during week 2, literally couldn't sleep properly because of the pain.
@santircastillo hey when did you have your jaw surgery. I'm recovering well. But left bottom cheek is a bit numb apart from that everything's fine.
@@SamuelGreenRoad2Recovery hey its been a while but i had an underbite.
8 months update:its been a pretty good recovery overall, most of the swelling is gone (just a little remains in my cheek). my braces are off now and im chewing, speaking and smiling much better now. definitely dont regret the whole experience and would do it again in a heartbeat - it has improved my quality of life so much. hope it did for you too!
It’s been 8 days since surgery and I’m home. How long until I can eat anything I want again?
im 2 weeks post op and ready to go back to school, I just have some swelling and trouble speaking. Ive just been studying online
How is it now (a month later)? Plus, did you do Lower or Upper Jaw?
Just had my double jaw surgery almost a week ago and the pain is minimal from the surgery itself however, I did get wisdom teeth removed while they were in there and it is THAT, that hurts like crazy at random times with pulses. I agree that yeah it’s super annoying to not eat properly but for me it’s been breathing and the hooks from the braces. My nose is like ultra sensitive and anything above a warm temp air, BURNS my nose. I’m ordering a steamer to help minimize that. The hooks just rub the cheeks a bit. The days do get better and better honestly but it’s just the small discomforts that make it. Time for some One Piece and soup.
Right you are. Aside from some sinus pressure the part about being hungry is so true. I’m not able to consume enough calories and protein.
I lost about half my weight, like seriously, no joke, I used to be 86kg, and now I'm 46kg
@@SamuelGreenRoad2Recovery I lost wright, too. After I was able to eat normal food I picked up my weight again.
@Velo1010 I'm still underweight. Trying to gain some wait. Nothing works yet.
@@SamuelGreenRoad2Recovery high protein diet. And if need to buy a big container of the weigh gain powder body builders use.
I'm just 2 weeks post-op and yes it almost to none pain at the surgeries area just little bit of uncomfortable and lot of numbness, for the 1st week after surgery. Should had been more greatful to the swelling back then, as now it almost gone and I'm run out of painkiller pill.. The pain slowly creeps into my jaw area (or mybe bcoz of the ash bar metals).
However, yup my only concern after the op.. where still in zero pain phase was my uncontrollable hunger 24h which almost drive me insane to eat chewy and crunchy stuffs although not even a month post-op yet.
Will there be another effects or problems if I used my jaw to much like talking and munching during this recovery time which lesser than a month after surgery? Or is it necessary for little jaw exercise?
Hey you may lose half of your weight. I sure did, I was 86kg before jaw surgery, and now I'm 46kg.
Y'all I'm having a jaw surgery in 6 months for class 2 overbite rn I'm 15 some people said that mewing would work to fix it and that I shouldn't go through all that trouble what do I do ??
I did it six weeksago, Monday my surgeon will let me eat 😢can't wait
How was it? Is your nasal breathing better ?
I want to undergo orthognathic surgery. My main concern is the damage to inferior aveolar nerve which causes permanent sensory loss in the chin, lips and palettes, and even the tongue.
I had mine the Monday after Thanksgiving. For sure you loose the feeling in the face: above the upper lip and below, both upper and lower lips, and nose. As of today I still have numbness. Worse part of this surgery is the inability to open my mouth all the way. It’s been said this will improve over time but I can say this and everything has been very, very frustrating. If I had to do it over again I personally would have to think it over.
I've seen people say they had that but they didn't even care
@@JohnDoe-bj7ie the nerves can take a very long time to recover. Case in point after my surgery my face, especially around my mouth, was numb. Today (three months later) I have regained feeling on the left side of my face, around the mouth.
@@Velo1010 I mean the patients didn't care because it didn't bother them
@@JohnDoe-bj7ie that’s strange unless they didn’t realize the annoyance of numbness. I can tell you there are days that I just want to almost cry because the numbness restricts my speech.
I wanna know more about bone modulation or remodulation, does it become like normal bone as if you’ve not have a surgery or are there some precautions to take like for example avoiding boxing sport or generally having some limitations in your life later on.
Thanks in advance
it heals just as strong as before i asked my surgeon it takes 6 months before you can do sparring again though mabe more but heals just as strong
@@ndungeon2990 thank you so much mate, I’m currently a 4th year Dentistry student and I didn’t reach the point where I learn about such things. Hi Doctor.. You are in Atlanta, and I am in Los Angeles. Can you recommend anyone you like or think is really good at this? I need to have surgery, as I broke my jaw today, in two place. Ugg. I ended up going home, because they didn't have a surgeon available, and I could not see myself staying in that hospital. They left me sitting most of the day, and I don't want people like that working on me. I was thinking I'd reach out to UCLA or County USC. I just want a surgeon who knows his stuff when it comes to this type of surgery. Hope to hear back! Shawn from Los Angeles.
Hi there, hope you were able to find a good surgeon and had a good result?
I want to make my face look smaller what to do can anyone tel me.. i thought of doing surgery face lift or jaw surgery for smaller face but dunno how it wil be after surgery scared so much but in need to make face smaller what to do can anyone tel me if they know it wil be so helpful.
I had the double jaw surgery and a genioplasty and upper wisdom teeth removed 4 days ago. I dont know if its just me but i feel almost everything on my face and i am in so much pain, the painkillers aren’t even effective. Any tips to help with the pain?

@@jhonnied7622 muchhh better thank you, the pain got away after 8 days thankfully and I felt normal after 6 weeks and now im not swollen anymore and no permanent nerve damage
My daughter just had hers yesterday due to cleft palate/lip and severe underbite from it. Also removed wisdom teeth and a molar. The swelling is so insane that I don’t even recognize her. She’s been sleeping because of the medicine. It looks horrendous. I couldn’t even imagine the pain. 😢

Rice and beef , mixed with the beef water
Also you can eat a lot of smoothie, banana milk ice cream , i eat it hot , because the cold bothers me
I survived off shredded chicken with mUshroom gravy and lots of mashed potatos with cheese,
And ice cream
im two weeks after ljs and the numbness of my lip/chin is worrying me 😅
You might be over it by now since its been a few days, but I hear numbness can last from 6 months up to a year in certain areas, but generally does come back. So even if its not back yet, it probably will.
still numb but yes can take a while ☺️
How is your jaw and numbness now
