Intriguing, mind-boggling and thought provoking short film! We may not often imagine being the only person left on earth sometimes, yet the feelings no doubt would be daunting, scary and surprising. The changing of screen colors added perfectly to the whirlwind of emotions Alex feels with the absence of others. I am eager to see the next part!

Excellent acting and directing to turn out something of this quality, and the storyline is very engaging thus far. I am very impressed and looking forward to the next entry. I do hope you will be doing a part 2 or even a series. I could see a very impressive series if you have a good writer(s) and I think it could catch on if the quality is as good as this one and, of course, you have the time. Probably get you a lot more subscribers.

This illusion did disguise my emptiness within but I was disappointed to have to confront it again when the movie stopped. Looking forward to seeing the ending and enjoying some more illusion.

Interesting but how are you getting away with using copyrighted music? If the premise is that this is a non-profit venture, you still have to pay for the use of the music or come to some sort of arrangement to use the music through permission and a lot of contract signing. There is no such thing as per needle drop rule or the under 30 second rule, it's all a fallacy created by someone a long time ago trying to get away without paying the artist for their song. It's surprising that you have the music peppered into certain scenes to add to the ambiance of the film. I just hope that the artist or the record company won't get wind of the film short and hit you with a copyright notice or cease and desist or force RUclips to alter the audio because they are very particular on how their property is being used. Washington Thank you for your comment Bobbie, we created this as a taster for future projects around this idea and hopefully to take this concept and create a feature film from it, we are not overly concerned with the copyright schemes, we just wanted to create something so people could see where we wanted to go in the future, we are already working on a prequel style short film alongside with a composer local composer we have paid for out of our own pocket
I created a trailer, my own version, for the film, The Tree of Life. I wrote my own music and used it as the score. It was interesting to see people respond to it and it was starting to get some hits. Then Sony got wind of it and forced RUclips's hand by having me remove the trailer. I posted it on Vimeo's site and you can Goggle it to find it by typing my name. Even though I used existing trailer footage and substituted the music for my own, when you start showing up a huge conglomerate, they will exercise their options and force others to do their dirty work. I like your concept of creating a "taster" to get things moving in the direction that you need and once again, good luck to you.

The slow, inexorable intensity revealing an empty world for this guy, perhaps should not start with him sleeping in PJ's, socks, pants and a belt. The degree of insulation from the world is suggestive of more trouble than we can discern. That the dog does not respond to him suggests he may be dead, and he is not aware of that. That the mother is indifferent to the son's needs as an adolescent, says he is an appendage to her existence: no existence of his own. But the clip never humanizes this attractive, masculine, clean, emotionally hungry guy: we never see his naked body, he has nothing in his crotch, his hair is always in place: there is a notion of the world appearing to be dead, empty to him, he is put out with the wheely bins. His acting is superb, expressions, emotions, movement, and the fear of emptiness: the mother's emotional disconnect ot the son is the same disconnect the guy has to his own body: his needs, his longings, he has no axilliaryhair, no deodorant, no underwear, only brushes his teeeth to take the edge off his oral rage. The metapbut we don't know if he even has toes? of his backpack toting his problems whreever he goes is apt, but the anomie is too deadenign to be able to connect. How much is the English society, how much the mother, and how much the asexualtype?

What is the relevance of: "I made this film when I was 16"?
Beautiful.. like the "Wizard of Oz" . It is black-n-white and then once in Oz, full color.... Here it is b-n-w until he turns on the ipod then full color. You should think about selling that idea to Apple and make a killing. Make sure you send a copy to yourself in a sealed envelope and don't open it when you receive it. This is a poor mans patent. If you ever have to prove it was your idea first, take the mailed envelope to court, addressed to you, and let the judge open it. This letter will have the date stamp of the post office and description of your idea. You might get rich.

So many posts are awaiting the next, follow-up film: the refusal to deal with finality, death, emptiness, anomie, as if there MUST be more because the viewer/poster cannot supply the next next...Beckett has eloquently explained, emphasized, portrayed, there is no more, more, ever, but we must go one, of course I myself can't go on, but somehow I must go on. Alex-the-actor does a super job being in the emptiness of it all, and slowly cannot stand the nothingness...the slow, inexorable build-up of terror is frightening, I almost had the shut down the clip, I would have liked the terror removed by having a clip behind the scenes...Alex has the cleanest teeth on the set, and the dirtiest socks....the poor dog was well cast for indifference. Having Alexa for a mom can beat having to deal with a real borderline mom.
