ABSTRACT
Merlin Mann, a well known productivity guru and creator of the popular 43 folders website will talk about Getting Things Done, the importance of getting your inbox to zero, and strategies for dealing with high volume email. Credits: Speaker:Merlin Mann - Хобби
I've used this system for six years. Changed my life, and feel much less stressed
15 years later and I’m still watching this video.
This might be old but I’m dealing with this today! Thanks, you’re the email guru!
I've been using Inbox Zero for more than 7 years and it changed the way I worked. I now do Inbox Zero both in my professional email and personal email. It's incredible how much more productive you become. One thing I'd say about the question related to how to deal with lots of emails when you're back from vacation, I'd start from the most recent emails. Those emails are usually more "recent" and you have a bigger chance of your response being relevant. Looking at an email from two weeks ago, more likely than not was already handled by somebody else, or the sender already is waiting - so waiting one or two more days won't be the end of the day. So, dealing with the most recent emails is my preference.
Inbox Zero - a welcome idea for dealing with the flood of "stuff" that comes at us every day. I am trying out adopting this at work, and plan to extend whatever is working for me to my personal email (and probably other "inboxes" in my life).
The challenge with GTD (getting things done) and time management is that it is a process. This is a nice video to remind you of how to manage the process for email. A useful reminder of the obvious with a very healthy dose of ninja focus and getting clear with some simple approaches I am willing to try.
Love this ,I'm gonna use this for my users, well presented and easy for the layman to understand.
Saves on my backup space (small company)
many thanks
still worth your time in 2018
inbox zero day for me today!
Richard Mann starts about email [01:52] to [26:03]
one of the best
This 2007 feels now (2014) like when he talked about 1993.
Haha
It took Google 11 years to implement this into Gmail (not even all of it, I still wants the "check every 30 minutes " (Which I did on my previous email system which help me doing some work>.
Great talk & tips
feel if this talk was done in 2018 not 2007
Not sure about GTD, but I practice Inbox Zero for two years now. My inbox is clean, and now you need to re-apply the same principle for your task management software.

58 minutes to save you hours EVERY week. I am on board.
Some of this is mildly dated, but with mailbox (an iPhone app) it can change your email life forever. You can follow this system perfectly and helps you get from inbox zero in a few minutes.
I actually stayed through the entire video ... while trying to organize and whittle my Gmail inbox. I finished the video, and deleted a lot of stuff.
still very valueable
finally got to inbox zero, finally got around to watching this, turns out it's already my modus operandi
Great video. I don't have enough time to watch this whole video (which is about 'saving time) and I was worried about this video being too long. Note that the actual lecture is only about 30 minutes, with the last 30 minutes being dedicated to a Q&A session (where geeks talk about their getting-things-done strategies).
SOOO many people in our university nee to see this, and it's 4 years old.
You can watch/download the original movie on "Google Video", without synching problems.
I saw this a couple of days ago and it has already help me. Mostly with not cheating myself ("ah, I'll respond later, when I have time...")
I want those delete, respond, delegate, defer, do-buttons to hang them beside my monitor^^ I guess I have to make my own.
If you go look at the original Google Video, the sync problems are the same. It's not caused by RUclips.
I love this video, but it the audio gets out of sync around 22:30 (it seems to happen earlier, but that's when it gets really noticeable)
Ha. 6:45... "multiasking in my experience tends to be something of a myth"...
Haha! Such a man... ;)
why is this video restricted by the video content owner and is not available on TV connected device?
please it's 58 minute long!
HAHA! I have been living Inbox Zero since I got into computers and I have taught dozens of my clients how to do it but I only learned last night from Tim Ferriss that it actually was a thing :) HAHA! :) So cool :)

34:30 You would never call someone in 1973 at 9pm on Sunday
35:27 Is a To Do List the answer?
Why is the sound quality always so wanting, especially in those videos that feature someone talking to (the viewer as) an audience! Its almost insufferable trying to follow what actually is being told, especially on portable devices.
I came here after watching an episode of Human Resources on Netflix
I’m here as I remember this from HR stone character and always thought I was a morray until they made that rock character I realised 😂😂😂
I mean "helped" and "icons" instead of "buttons"..
Dammit, next time I'll check before posting. Promise.
@damianpodcast And staying well fed. Even Ninjas need a taco once and awhile.
what a cool ass name. it made me say cool ass. im sure he just walks into interviews and says im merlin mann, and they say, wow merlin mmmmm ur hired
delete and archive are really two options and you need to think about it. So it's not 5 actions, it's six.
@goby999 advanced common sense!
If time you have is finite and precious, then why is this video and his presentation so damn long???
You only need to watch the first 30 minutes to get the ideas as the second half is a question and answer session. If you are really short on time, click the the settings wheel and watch it at 1.25 or 1.5 speed. :-)
Also, the presentation slides are at www.slideshare.net/merlinmann/inbox-zero-actionbased-email
jsssm yup he could have said this in a lot less time lol, or provided a summary version
10 people disliked this because watching this video has taken away an hour that they could have used to check their emails.
Audio desync.. sooo frustrating.
PEANUT BUTTER PEANUT BUTTER PEANUT BUTTER.

"International Network of Hugs World Order"
So many errors in the captions.
fix them then, fucker
They kind of own RUclips. Sorry, not kind of, they do.
@happybois You think his wife knows he's gay?
I got as far as "your time is finite"
Man... that GTD workshop announcement was annoying...
For everyone that likes GTD and Inbox zero I highly recommend IQTELL. It's a life changer.
I do Zero-Inbox since several months and I helps to avoid stress and helps you to focus at one moment on one topic. I am disappointed because I could not find a way to find a feature like gmail "snooze" for IMAP. I don't want much, I just want to move mails to a "do later" folder for N days. After N days the mail should get into my inbox again. If you know a solution, please write an answer here: softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/questions/35035/inbox-zero-for-imap This is called "defer" in this video
Thomas Güttler Thats verry intresting input for me.I work on a Email Client which will just do that.If you interrested send me a message via youtube.
Yes, I am interessted in an email client (IMAP) which does help to get to Zero-Inbox.Some days ago I wrote a small script which creates several folder in IMAP an does resubmission, but I don't use it today. There were too many folders and there was integration to email clients. github.com/guettli/ndayslater
I am curious how you want to solve this.
Do you want to write an email client from scratch? That's a lot of work. Why not take an open source email client as base. There are thunderbird, k9 for android and some web mail user agents. You can reach me via guettliml@thomas-guettler.de too.
