Turn 63 tomorrow and I am more into fashion than ever ! I enjoy your channel and your philosophy. A man should always look his best because you never know who you will encounter on your adventures our and about in the world.
Thanks for your channel! I’m in my mid-60s, and lost 90 lbs. after a health scare. I found that by focusing on dressing better I’ve made maintaining the weight loss more as a reflection of the true me. After years of being overweight, I’m finally comfortable with my body. I’ve found that quality, non-faddish, clothing wears well on me and allows me to focus on a positive lifestyle. Mike
New subscriber here. Similar story. I’ve lost nearly 60lbs and my old clothes didn’t fit my body or my new level of self confidence. Thank you for helping me upgrade my style. Salute to you sir.
I just turned 41 and still wanted to look good every day. I believe we have different styles in fashion, it’s just a matter of carrying it with confidence and wear what is comfortable. I always wanted to present myself nicely to others, and yes I definitely love your channel 😊😉
There is NO WAY you are near 50?!? WOW! Happy I am a subscriber. Maybe if i continue watching your content, as I age I will age like you! Keep up the great work.
I’m over 50 and try to adapt current fashion trends to my tastes and body structure. Reasonable skin care, grooming, and fitness is a good start. I shop online Macy’s - order the clothing to be delivered to the store for pickup because the clothing, size, and colors are ready. Once picked up, I head to the dressing room, keep what works for me and immediately return the items that don’t look right. There are often great deals there. This is my time and money saving shopping hack.
I'm 57 and no way am I looking like most men my age. I like looking my best. I find an older man who is in good shape and dresses like he puts thought into is very attractive... In a world where most men look like they could give a rip on how they look. A well dressed man stands out in a good way...
I LOVE the way you addressed the question about "essential things a man should own (at 8:52). So many other style channels churn out countless repetitive videos dedicated to these subjective "fluff" topics, and they're all a waste of time. It's too subjective to be meaningful, so just call it what it is and move on.
Good morning John. Aweome content, nice to know who you are and where you come from. Your making a hell of a difference in us men who want to stay stylish and classy in our 40's...Bravo...
Hey John. Beau from NZ here. Have fully subscribed and have made your sessions a part of my daily routine. You are my new Daily Bread. Loving your advice and the gentle way you get your opinions across. You are polite and handsome, BB
Just recently found your channel, and I appreciate what you do. I've been following others mens fashion channel, well known ones, but everything they recommend that (fits well) is usually some expensive brand. your videos are short, well informed, and affordable. I mean you talk about Express, target, gap, american eagle etc..all affordable brands. things that the average joe can actually make a decent wardrobe out of these brands. and not have to drop $150+ dollars on a shirt. Thanks! you have a new subscriber
Thanks for answering my questions, John. I wish I had paid more attention to skincare years ago & you are correct when you say, doing anything is better than doing nothing. Guys.....start now!!
I highly & I mean highly, recommend Ordinary brand. Order the ‘No Brainer Set”. It’s like $30. I’ve been using it for a few months & say what you will, I can’t live without it now. No BS. If you would have told me 15yrs ago that I’d be buying skin care products, I’d think you were going mad.
John, another fantastic video..... 49 here too, and have just recently (last ten years or so) started paying attention to mens fashion. Also started BJJ about 4/5 years ago, and just won gold at a no-gi 195lbs + competition against guys at least ten years younger. I'm looking forward to my 50s......Keep up the excellent videos!
Cadillac, nice job on the BJJ, I am running my first 3 Spartan races this year at 52. I decided to throw in a 50k trail run in April. Apparently, I haven't gained much wisdom in 52 years.
Hi John, a recent subscriber here. Thanks for this vid and you are looking good for someone reaching 50 in a few months, what!? I love your style and looking forward to seeing more stuff. I can share one tip for skin care. if someone new, I'd say get some (matte finish) face cream sunscreen. the product doesn't have to be expensive, but, the important step is make that to your routine. Once you used to do that then you can start adding more stuff later. Guys, protect your skin from the sunlight !
I really enjoy, and have learned a lot about a variety of things about being a man in my 40s. How bout a video about time... as in a acceptable time it takes to get ready to go out.
John - great channel and cool to learn more about you with your updated introduction video. Always great to learn more about the people you're watching. For the person who asked about wearing scents, but having skin issues - have they tried a beard oil scented with natural essential oils? There are a wide variety of scents and the carrier oils are great for your skin, and enhance the natural oils on your skin and can be used with or without a beard
Hi John , another great video.....I’m loving the content that you bring to us older guys , I’m fast approaching 60 and I’m more excited now about looking good , feeling good than I was in my 30s........I’m in the uk and was wondering if your kind of style translates over the water to us guys in the uk ..........thanks again for the great content .
Chris pembry Hey Chris, I am 50 next year and feeling way better than when I was in my 30's . So much so that I'm in full training for a trip to Mt Everest. I have lived in LA and currently reside in Brisbane Qld Australia. Both places have very similar weather. Sunny, warm and close to the ocean. I have also lived in London. Because the UK is typically much colder and has a far higher rainfall the clothing styles are quite different. When I lived in London I was wearing dark rich colours, dark grey suits. In LA and Bris my suits are much lighter weight fabrics and light greys. I pretty much cannot wear my suits I purchased in London. I just cook... Same can be said for many of my casual pieces. That said, wear what you want. Take a look at videos by ProducerMichael. He's about our age group... Check out what he's wearing. I'm going down that rout lately. Loud, ostentatious and obnoxious 😂🙏 Growing old disgracefully 👍
Hello there, thanks, great video and nice to get to know you better. I'm an older guy living in Istanbul, Turkey, which is a clothes shopping paradise. So it's quite easy to shop around and find what looks good on you. Here in Europe, many of us flock to Zara, Mango, Pull&Bear and other trendy shops of this group which have something for everyone. I find the clothes at H&M fit me well. There are also some terrific Turkish brands (some now international) such as Mavi, De Facto, Koton, Collezione. It would be fun if you reviewed some of these international brands in the future - I'd like to hear your opinion on them ...
New subscriber to your channel. Your style is very similar to mine. Never knew though that there was a rule regarding wearing jean shorts. I love rocking my jeans shorts in the hot summer months and Im in my mid 50s. I usually wear them with white low profile sneakers and must say I think I look GOOD....lol...Style is subjective as you have stated. If it feels good and fits you right and you feel comfortable wearing the items, then go for it, Im my very own fashion guru...lol. As you do, I also try different things that maybe I havent really had the nerve to try before and to my surprise I have find that some of the items I actually like. I thank you for your insight and advice for us men over 40. Keep it coming.
I did subscriber because I see you are so REAL compare to other youtube channels. The same as your age, I am in 49 and well taken care of myself but your channel given me all the best of advice. Please keep it up and possible you can share about how to take care of our health in this age. Thanks a lot
You were right on when you said that style is subjective. Personally I think jean jackets should have been left behind in 1990 and jean shorts should have been left behind in 1996, but I do see guys rocking them and they don't look half bad. They just aren't for me. There are some things that I do that people would say are fashion faux paus such as popping my polo collars and wearing white Ralph Lauren ankle socks with Nike trainers, a Ralph Lauren polo shirt, and shorts. I also get looks when I wear my RL polos with the big ponies and the number 67 on sleeves. I think I look great in them and they're great for the tennis court. I don't mean to bore you with details. I just love talking about fashion.
You're a great guy with an awesome sense of style. I have 2 questions...Do you ever get manicures/pedicures or do you think they're a waste of time?As I mentioned in past comments, I wear sockless sneakers with shorts quite often, so much so that my feet are a few shades lighter than my legs. It can be a little embarrassing when I'm at a friends house and he asks me to take my shoes off. I was wondering if you've ever experienced this problem and if there are any quick fixes for it other than spending hours that I don't have lying on the beach.Keep up the great work and I look forward to more videos.
Great videos. I hear some men style youtubers say don't wear polo shirts. The style youtubers say polo shirts may you look like you are a company uniform (Target, Best Buy). Also, how do feel about older men dating women 15 to 20 or more younger than them.

Hi John, quick question Sir...I noticed that you wear mostly long sleeve shirts. They look awesome. Are they ok in the Summer? Arms don’t perspire anyway✊🏻
hey john I love your videos, I want to ask you if you can do a video for what to wear on a first date when your 50 or older. I'm a home improvements contractor and I actually asked out my client and she said yes. I have not been on a date for over a year and I don't know what a stylish look for an older guy is{ I have mostly work clothes}. can you make some videos that touch on this subject?
Not sure how this video popped up on my recommendations list for RUclips but saw the car racing pic and had to click it. Why would one stop racing cars when moving from Seattle to SoCalif? Seems like there should be a lot more racing down here?
First off great video. Now congrats... 18k that fast 😳😳? I had to put on my readers to make sure it did not say 1.8k. Just the other day you were under 2k. Dude. What did you do ?
@@40OverFashion That is the video that was suggested on my home page and it brought me here, but it was this video that got me to subscribe. After watching a few videos, I was wondering your age - many would say that you look older than you are. That isn't meant to say that you don't look fantastic and sexy, but we tend to make judgments based upon the grey in the hair and the appearance of wrinkles or other aging characteristics on the face. I love that you don't color - so many men in their 40's do it. There is much to be said for someone who takes their natural aging beauty in stride and makes the most of it. I'm 49 as well, turning 50 in September. I try hard to keep it stylish and sexy - we still want to be thought of as sexy, especially when we're about to turn 50! I just wish I had your amazing head of hair. Loving the vids so far, even if I don't always agree 100% with the fashion/style, but you do ultimately say that style is personal. I can't wear most fashion sneakers for example. Thanks for the great tips!
Hey John. Love your videos. I'm 57, 100 lbs overweight and am planning on starting to work out with my son, who is a fitness guru, what affordable shoes (under $100) can I get for working out? Thanks for what you do.
My barber calls it a modified side part. I've had varying versions of the same style for a little bit, so I've been thinking about changing it up soon.
I'm curious as to how you define "classical." Sometimes it seems subjective. But if you would, please show us (don't tell us) a collage of what might be considered fashionable from say post WW1 to the present--basically, one century of men's fashion. I find a comfort in 70 year old photos showing men's clothes that is still fashionable today. I suppose our biggest metamorphoses is that today's classically dressed man arrives sans fedora. I tried to find the reference of Arthur asking a butler if he's going to take his hat. Butler: But, you're not wearing a hat. Arthur: Then offer to take my tie. By the way, look at how dashing that Hobson is (played by Sir Arthur John Gielgud) delivering those biting sarcastic remarks. He really stole the show. ruclips.net/video/RunNMtpb5Bk/видео.html
Fantastic introduction to men attempting to look stylish an in my case failing miserably. As a big man,no not fat just goes with a manual job,I find most clothes here in the UK are made for men who hold office jobs, those of us in the sewer or foundations are ignored,we do jobs no one wants to do,yet we have money to spend.I am not alone.Whilst my waist size is 36",not exactly slim,my chest is 52",so there goes the shirts, the neck is 21"as are the arms,so do I buy the fat guy shirt and have an acre cut off the waist?Same for trousers,my thighs are 331/2"but none come with a waist under 44",do I buy those and have them cut down?Or do I just go totally custom?Just means less of everything but higher quality. It sounds like I am moaning.
Maria, I have 36" long arms on a 6' foot frame so custom shirts are usually my only solution. As an alternative I get a Tall shirt and take it to a taylor. for about $20 US they can get the shirt to fit you better.
There are online clothiers that you can take your measurements and they will make shirts and pants for you for a reasonable price. They won't be as cheap as a local store but at least your clothes will fit.
40 Over Fashion I love Aries( which is my Moon Sign) . Your knowledge of fashion is flawless and seems the planet Venus is very positively dominant in your birth chart. 😘 and this beautiful planet of love and creativity has given you an implacable knowledge of style and fashion.
I "m going to be 50 in couple of months. I have grey hair and inspired by your looks ,.I would decide not to color my hair any more. But my daughter(9yr) and my wife (39) dead against that .They are Comparing with you.You are good looking , handsome; I"m dark. I am confused.
Your wife's opinion obviously matters, but if you don't want to color your hair any more, don't. Maybe just take a few months off from coloring and play around with a new hair style. Maybe the change-up will change her mind. :) Good luck!

Jean stains on white sneakers are practically impossible to get out unfortunately. A great cleaner is Jason Mark.
I meant to ask, what did you drive when you were racing? I am looking forward to F1 season starting in March!
I went through (crashed) a couple Honda Civics. They're very easy to work on, parts are cheap, they're lightweight and classes are really competitive.
Hey John. Love your videos. I'm 57, 100 lbs overweight and am planning on starting to work out with my son, who is a fitness guru, what affordable shoes (under $100) can I get for working out? Thanks for what you do.
Back in my fitness days, I wore converse to lift, and Nike running shoes for cardio. Each can be had for under $100.
Love your hair style bro😍 What's it called
My barber calls it a modified side part. I've had varying versions of the same style for a little bit, so I've been thinking about changing it up soon.
Please do a video on how you lost 40 lbs and why you gained it all back. 🙏👍

Greetings! Glad you’re here!
Seriously, you don't look fifty :-)
Why does it have to be so difficult? Why can just wear what we like?
My handsome fashion Guru what is your zodiac sign 😘😀😊🙏

40 Over Fashion 💋💋😘😘😘😘😘❤️
Greetings, please a video with underwear recommendations? Thank you
