  • Both versions of Pirates of the Caribbean together Side By Side, the original 1967 version of the ride and a recent 2022 ridethrough! You can notice the differences but perhaps more often the similarities between the 2 versions now 55 years apart in time!
    We had to slow down or speed up the 2022 version to make everything fit with the original, but its so fun to compare the two! We have both audio tracks and switch back and forth notating which one you are listening too at any given moment.
    It's the Pirate's life for us, mateys! We love this ride!
    We are not monetizing this as it has so much original soundtrack! BUT, you can support us by subscribing to the channel! Thanks so much!

    Fascinating comparison! And seeing how the guests dressed, styled their hair, and occasionally used camcorders, is very interesting, too! Still the classic attraction.

    Thank you so much, for sharing the comparisons! I was a child in the 1970's, so I've been on the original ride. Seeing the comparisons, it makes me appreciate and miss, the way the ride was originally set.

    So cool! Was there in 1967 and 2022! I hope these people got a second ride as they probably rode with bright lights on.

    The 1967 footage is the ride running with the lights all turned on just for the film-based camera.

    This is fantastic!!!! Love love love it. It is especially cool to see some things from 1967 are still there. While I appreciate the new additions over the years, I must admit it was pretty great in 1967!!!!

    Its getting old spending a day a Disneyland pointing to bits of each attraction and saying to the kids "it used to do _________ here". In the case of pirates its the shifting of the false ceiling (now motionless) just after the jail scene where the creaking track is playing (thats why there is a creaking sound track there in the first place - you wouldn't even know it today). They also used to blow heat at you there too. So many dead effects it feels disrespectful to the piece of art and legacy.

      Thanks for sharing those little details. Disney of today doesn't care about keeping this ride true to it original form. They seem to care more about synergy and that censorship is up to DEI standards.

  • @Geologist_Mike
    @Geologist_Mike Год назад +17

    With the exception of the last scene, I think the original version was better. The dialogue was about pirates being the real bad guys they were, so it was a little bit more scary. It just needed the more modern colored lighting.

    • @wumpus976
      @wumpus976 10 месяцев назад +2

      I actually think I prefer the original lighting, at least in some scenes.
      Take the skeleton cave, for example. The bright lights make everything look sun-bleached and faded, as if light has penetrated through the cave and has been cast onto the skeletons. I just think it’s a lot eerier.

    • @TylerReeves
      @TylerReeves 3 месяца назад +2

      @@wumpus976 The lighting has undoubtably changed since opening, but I wouldn't totally trust either of these videos to be accurate representations of how they looked in person. For one, the '67 recording required they use a very different and much brighter lighting set up to capture it on film (essentially they just turned the work lights on haha). And even in the modern recording, the way the camera/export captures brightness, contrast, and saturation is very different from our eyes and brain-imo its much less garish in person.

    • @wumpus976
      @wumpus976 3 месяца назад

      @@TylerReeves that’s very true. There’s a deceptive quality that comes with video, and I know that after I went to Disney World myself (it’s not the version shown in this video, but I think it’s still a similar comparison.)
      In my opinion, a lot of the rides at Disney look a lot cheaper in person. You can more clearly see where parts are airbrushed, or where corners of the room meet. That’s not to discredit all the effort put into them, but it’s something that I thought after going on a lot of the rides.

      The lighting you see in the promotional footage isn't accurate. They lit it up so they could capture everything for TV

    Great side by side. The inside Q was always a good "tease" for the ride to come. Funny thing, after getting off the ride when I was a kid my mom would talk about not drinking alcohol - - - to this day I don't drink thanks to Pirates of the Caribbean. 6:33 "rumbling turntable" LOL! Still one of my favorite rides from when I was a little kid. The ride is actually about a month older than me. You see something different every time you ride it. Nice side by side. The Blue Bayou is a MUST If you have time for lunch or dinner. Love the wearing of suits ties back then.

    Its prettier now, but its really a shame how they robbed it of character. Way less drinking / drunkenness, got rid of the bride sale, the men dont chase the women anymore, etc.
    The story feels hobbled together now since the theme of getting too drunk and losing control of their assault on the town is gone. They didnt bother to replace it with any new charm, just too mild to mean much.
