Rose is a Hall of Famer in my stupid opinion. I don't like watching Pete talk about the gambling stuff and self pity stuff. But i love listening to Pete talk about baseball. He's a true baseball guru and historian.
The problem is there's a lot worse things in that report that have never come out. Some of it did come out but not all of it. He did a lot of bad things including using illegal bats to get his hits
Interesting,as a kid all I knew was Larry McWilliams and Gene Garber ended Rose's streak. Yeah,no way he would bet against his own team,not when he takes so much pride in winning!!! These tainted players should be in the Hall of Fame with explanation of their story in the museum. They just should not be allowed to be around the game of baseball,no free tickets to games,no seeing relatives in organized or independent ball. This comes from the same person who said college athletes should be paid after they are done playing,after their eligibility is up! And now....
What so many people still fail to understand is that from an integrity perspective, betting on one’s team to win and betting on one’s team to lose are EXACTLY THE SAME! There is no difference.
How can u be a serious baseball fan and think he deserves to be in the hall of fame? He broke the number one rule in any sports league. To make sure games are not thrown. Steroids and sign stealing are not nearly as bad as Pete rose because at least they were trying to win. Not defending it.

HOW can you be a serious fan of rules and defend the Baseball HOF coming up with what is called the PETE ROSE BAN in FEB 1991, which says they will not consider a Player for the HOF who is Permanently Banned from MLB. Of course, it was just a COINCIDENCE that they came up with the RULE tin 1991... That was their story -- They were not trying to specifically keep anyone out, but they were always concerned for "The Integrity of the game." Of course, the HOF Board were meeting for this purpose... Less than One Year before the Writers would consider Rose for the HOF. The HOF, of course, is supposed to be SEPERATE from MLB, but SEVERAL who argue for the ROSE BAN, BELIEVE that Cooperstown is a part of MLB. That is NOT True. The Late Edward Stack, Longtime HOF President, celebrated this move, this "Coincidence," BAN/ LIE to keep Rose out. But, hey, it's a useful Lie, right??? Naturally, I'm sure you're not defending this lie, since it's so useful, Ends justifying means, and so forth.

Because Pete is the only reason he’s not in. He makes more money being out than in. I live in Cincy tho and he’s beloved here since gambling is so popular. There’s a major casino right downtown. People here love gambling.
Pete shows no remorse. He doesn't seem genuine. It's like a game of "Oh Woh Is Me". He broke the number one rule in baseball! If the hall wants some Rose memorabilia, fine. Pete does NOT deserve a plaque. End of story.
What about Speaker and Cobb then? They knowingly bet while playing and Landis let them off because he didn’t want to admit his efforts to clean up the game had failed. Give Pete his plaque but no speech.
The guy is still in the public eye, getting around $30K per appearance to sign autographs for a couple hours.
