"Dance The Night Away" was another hit off this album.
Always loved that one! Jay and Amber really need to listen to it. Has such a nice nostalgic feel, kinda different for Van Halen.
Yes, but the live version please
Dance The Night Away is my fave off VH2 superb summer feeling 💯😎
@@MichaelLynch1 Yep. Put's you in a good mood.
Only Dave could pull this off.
SO many people seem to miss the "Hey! Hey! Where ya goin'?!" at the end of the song.
He was such a tremendous part of Van Halen.
I’m sure you’re going to be hearing this A LOT, but “Girls, Girls, Girls” is a Mötley Crüe song. However, Van Halen definitely like girls too, haha. If you want to check out some content by David Lee Roth after he left VH, I’d suggest “Yankee Rose.”
I've learned to scroll before I post.......
Oops
Normally, band INTERVIEWS are boring, but you should check out Van Halen on Rockline 1982. It's just the 4 of them talking after having smoked something heavy and it's hilarious. It comes in by mistake at the end of this, thats what the talking was
I have also come to realize that they are covering a lot of music in a short time. It is probably easy to get them confused.
The song is “Beautiful Girls” not “Girls, Girls, Girls”
Van Halen is a solid band in any form but the David Lee Roth version will always be my favorite.
I feel the same way, Sammy can sing but for Van Halen it’s got to be Roth 🙋🏻♀️
@@jeanstrickland2445 My mom loves the Hagar songs because "he has a better voice"", which I can't argue, but the SONGS are better.
Dave brought the party, Sammy brought the resume. I preferred Sammy.
I agree. He made Van Halen fun. Sammy was boring.
Van Hagar is the castrated version of VH
Hot For Teacher must be next. Do the official video. Back when MTV was king.
Thanks for the smiles :)
I want them to react to the video for Hot For Teacher SOO Bad....but honestly they might not like it so much. Different times man...just like the salmon suits! The video reminds me of my dad so much...he was a musician and I remember him decked out in those suits matching all the other band members. Oh the pastels! 😝
The best thing about the OG Van Halen is the way they blended their musical knowledge from music school with a purely fun aesthetic. There are SO MANY of these fun songs in their catalog.
@@TANTRUMGASM Pasadena conservatory of music is where Eddie and Alex went. It's where they found Mark Anthony.
@@TANTRUMGASM Plus, while he never learned to read music, he also had private piano lessons. His father wanted him to be a classical pianist, he was that good.
@@paulwagner688 I thought Mark Anthony's was the backstabber and Michael Anthony played bass for VH 😃😃
Van Halen is the sound and look that EVERY 80s band was trying to copy. Nobody gives this band credit, for literally creating the 80s sound, in the 70s, while the 70s sound was still hot.
Ffffffing Thank You!!!!!!!
@Beyond the Other Side Players knew, obviously. But the fact that the terms "Hair Band" exist, shows some don't know the muse that was being copied.
Totally agree, i've said this many times. DLR Van Halen was the template for 80's hair metal. Old VH is some of the best music of all time.
@@klaws32 Van Halen was never hair metal....goot lawd
@@MRCATL3 i didnt mean they were hair metal, FUCK NO!! I meant they provided the look, the shredder on guitar, the blond lead singer, the on stage look. VH with DLR is some of the most kick ass hard rock in history. I'm purely talking image.
Some or the best Van Halen songs come from early Van Halen. "Ain't Talkin Bout Love" "Jamie's Crying" "Running With the Devil" "Feel Your Love Tonight " and "Ice Cream Man" are all from Van Halen's first album, simply titled, VAN HALEN. I think it came out in 1978..These are all 🔥!! If you doubt just know ERUPTION was also on this Album!!!
Add D.O.A. to all the others mentioned that I really like from VH
It was a shortened version of Eruption, the studio version
Eruption leading into You Really Got Me
One of the underrated qualities of VH is their tremendous backing vocals. Always beautifully done.
Van Halen was the ULTIMATE party band. The music just screams good times.
*I saw them twice; in 1982 and 1983. In 1982 someone tossed a huge doobie onto the stage. Dave picked it up and asked if anyone's got a light....and then, what seemed like over 1000 Bic lighters went flying onto the stage. He laughed, lit it up, and took a big hit off of it. Then tossed it back into the audience.*
Girls, Girls, Girls is Motley Crue
That's what I was thinking.
It's motley crue, yes it is lol
David Lee Roth one of the best frontman of the '70s in my opinion. He had pure showmanship and always a excellent performance . Dave was an original. No one could mimic. His voice paired beautifully with Eddie's playing.
Alex Van Halen is an under rated drummer 🥁
Eddie VH and I rate him the greatest ever.....
Facts. 🥁
Yeah maybe sorta. In the time, he was very highly rated. In 1982 and 83, Alex was at the top of every poll in the Rock magazines. Truth is he hasn't played on new music for a really long time.
And drinker!
Not by any means, he has always been highly rated, maybe overshadowed by his brother but his rating by critic's and other drummers has always been spot on.
J& Amber, you'll love their "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love and "You Really Got Me(Kinks cover) !!
I’d add Right Now, Amsterdam, When It’s Love, Ice Cream Man, Finish What Ya Started, Dreams, Hot For Teacher & redo Jump, that’s the only song Amber didn’t react to and it’s a CLASSIC not just a VH one but of all the bands out there too !! 🤘🤘🔥🔥❤️❤️
Eddie Van Halen was one of the best guitar players ever. Y'all would have loved the 80s and watching all the new bands with their videos on MTV. It was awesome
We didnt realize how good we had it, did we.....
@@marlenabaker9894 no we didn't. Thankful to have lived in those times. Had so much fun.
David Lee Roth “Just a Gigolo” and “Ice Cream Man”. Two you’ve got to hear.
Ice Cream Man is Van Halen, not David Lee Roth Solo. But I agree and I said they should react to it too.
My bad. You are correct, but you already knew that 😊
I would say “Yankee Rose” to hear the great Steve Vai on guitar.
David Lee Roth plays acustic guitar on Ice cream man???
Only 2or 3 songs he played an instrument on 😋✌️♥️
@@johnboydTx Ah, that explains it. Nancy Wilson of Heart has a video where she talks about giving Eddie an acoutic guitar. And that he started playing with acoustic guitar after that. But that never made sense to me when I remembered this acoustic guitar on their first album. If DLR played the acoustic on this, that would explain things. I appreciate Nancy Wilson influencing Eddie playing with an acoustic on the Women and Children first album. here is the clip of Nancy talking about it. ruclips.net/video/iGVozn25WFs/видео.html
I LOVE the uncut behind the scenes portion of this video. Keep that stuff in!!!
It shows that they kinda 'play it up' for the camera. Was cool to see tho.
"PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!" 😄
If you wanna tear up, you could watch his son Wolfgang Van Halen’s video for the song “Distance” released as a tribute after Eddie’s passing. It was nominated for Grammy song of the year and features home footage of Eddie.
There’s also an entire body of work with singer Sammy Hagar featuring their keyboard and piano hits like “Right Now” ..that song was a huge hit in the 90’s! Remember, their career spanned decades and they started all this before all the other bands. VH influenced music so much, I hope people hear that.
Exactly, Distance would be an amazing song for them to react! Also - Poundcake!
Gotta love Van Halen! I smiled through the whole song. :) RIP Eddie.
Jordan, "Girls,Girls,Girls" is a Mötley Crüe song
I prefer Sailor's(70s band from the UK) Girls Girls Girls
Who's Jordan?
@@fumes1541 The guy you're watching?
Their music saved my life as a teenager who was dealing with some very serious issues. RIP EDWARD, I truly thank them for for bringing the joy and inspiration at a time when I needed it Most. 🥰🙏 Also, Michael Anthony does not get enough credit as not only a fantastic Bass Player, but his Background Vocals were incredible, that definitely made their unique sound 🥰👍😊☺️
You have to listen to their hit “Dance the Night Away” from the same album.
For the record, as a Van Halen fan since the late 70s allow me to point out one obvious but overlooked fact....DLR and Sammy were great lead singers without question, but Van Halens sound, outside of the obvious in Eddies guitar, is Michael Anthonys backup vocals.... always overlooked and very underrated. Great channel..... repeat offender....
They've already reacted to this, but every early Van Halen song I hear. All of I can think of is. "Come on Dave give us a break." "One break comin' up". I say that way too much.
That suit is you!!! You'll get some leg tonight for sure. Tell us how you do....
"Little Guitars"(with intro)...the best VH song that alot of people dont know about...
O H !!…and I agree with “Little Guitars” !!
Heck yeah! Little Guitars is my jam!
@@showtime4243 I-O!...hope you're well...🙂
I think Amber would love "Panama". Their humor and character shines through, and a great song. Heaps of fun!
Everybody feels it, but nobody says it: Eddie can lay down a helluva shuffle groove!
Eddie Van Halen did the end credits to the film "Twister" a Tour de Force extended guitar solo called "Respect The Wind." A 6-minute musical tribute to the power and grandeur of the atmosphere and it's violent mood swings.
It’s an incredible piece of music. There’s nobody like King EVH!
It’s an incredible piece of music. There’s nobody like King EVH!
Yes, it’s haunting and beautiful, nothing like his stuff with the band. The Twister soundtrack
You know what ONE word i always felt listening to Van Halen? FUN. Rocking hard, fast and heavy but always felt like they were having a blast. Awesome band, great time to grow up.
Dance the Night Away is another great song for that album.
If you like the fun style of this song, and David Lee Roth's vocal antics, you MUST listen to Big Bad Bill,an old time jaunty song that features Eddie and Alex's dad doing a killer clarinet solo! You will both LOVE IT❣🎶
They would loose their minds if they heard “Big Bad Bill”, that’s so unexpected. The VH boys’ pops on clarinet solo!
“Could this be magic” is unexpected as well.
They also do an acoustic guitar cover of : Happy Trails to You. That's unexpected. But also fun. 😆
Alex Van Halen is ridiculously under rated drummer, he has some skills
How is he underrated? I'm pretty sure everybody reckoned his skills back when he was kick drumming the shite out of his titanic drum set.
@@jhamler1 I concur... back then, he was one of my favorite drummers, easily top 3...
Dave & Alex wrote the basic outline of this song while riding in Alex's convertible on the freeway -- throwing ideas back & forth, and Dave writing the lyrics as they came to him.
Of course Roth is great, but you're listening to the greatest guitar player of the century. I'm flabbergasted by this on a daily basis. There's no one better. There just is EVH.
"hey come here baby....Hey Where you going? HEY!! HEY!!!" was my favorite ad-lib.
Jordan, "Girls, Girls Girls" is by Motley Crue.
Delfonics and Be My Girl, What You See, Is What You Get By The Dramatics and Michael Henderson. Two great R&B artists we lost last week , RIP William Hart and Michael Henderson.
That's why we like your reactions, because you can leave in your little bloopers in the end as part of your video...very nice!
Van Halen will always be my fave band cuz....No one sounded like this. 👑👑🎸🎸💗💗
VAN HALAN...so very talented! David Lee Roth a great front man! RIP Eddie
Sorry for the typo! Van Halen
Early Van Halen was absolute fire! However, you have not even scratched the surface with this band. Edward was never satisfied, and was always searching for that perfect tone. So with each album you will notice subtle changes, with new tricks and sounds. But where the band truly shines, is the live shows. Keep rockin RSR!
"Dance the Night Away" from this album needs to be next.
"Whats your name honey, whats your name? Hey hey where ya goin' hey! Hey...hey babe wait, oh!"
Best part, such a fun, classic ad-lib....
She summed up why David Lee Roth is a legend. His wordplay is so amazing. You can't listen to DLR and be depressed.
There was an interview from back in the early day's where he states his job wasn't to look good, it was to make YOU look good. He meant that his job was to bring you up and make you feel good about yourself.
So many more songs to do, but since your on Van Halen's 2nd album, why not do... "Dance The Night Away" next...
I second that!
I loved how Amber would really smile every time David Lee Roth would add those little, "comments" and "sound effects" at the end of or between verses. OMG Amber, you could have totally hung out with me and my girlfriends in 1979, had you been about 14 or 15 years old. You are both so fun! -Joni
My favorite band of all time VAN HALEN!! I love this album!
I'm so glad you noticed that at the end where there's that whole bit of humor where he said hey babe where you going?! And then he just lapses back into I love them I need them can do without them you know. Fun stuff.
Wife here..Soooo catchy...!!..Can never go wrong with Van Halen!!!..Hitting with some cool lines..Absolutely 😎👌!!!
Little Guitars, Little Dreamer, Tobacco Road, Fair Warning and Why Can’t This Be Love
The history of Van Halen--the early history--is why you should do reactions to Sha Na Na. "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", "Can't Help Falling In Love With You", and so many many much more. Sha Na Na is what happens when university music students decide to unleash their talents on the world.
Sha na na at Woodstock. Playing right before Hendrix Mon. morning. (be a fun reaction).
(just from memory) : I think the singer became a prof of Jewish studies, a couple others: Dr. of ER medicine, another - law prof. (Denny?)
ruclips.net/video/HXLsMszmQpA/видео.html
And in contrast - Just Bowzer - his vocals and piano - singing about 'Glasses'. Talented dude.
ruclips.net/video/LRp3CfXOWQA/видео.html
John Bauman would be proud!
@@quantanglement Denny was a lawyer. Santini was a doctor. Bowzer still performs. Johnny not only performs, but has a cooking channel on RUclips. Danny is a presence himself on RUclips. RIP Lenny, Denny, and all of the group who have passed.
Ha ha! Sha na na referance! Love it! Bowzer!
@@paulwagner688 Always liked Vinny Taylor's guitar. He really had his own style. I wonder what kind of music he would be doing now if he was around.
OMG Amber’s new hairstyle is 😍 Talk about a Beautiful Girl!
Rhythmically, this song is a “shuffle”. VH would incorporate shuffle and swing rhythms, and vocal harmonies that are unmatched (in the world of rock music) let alone Eddie’s out of this world talent and their songwriting skills.
And yes, while “ Girls, girls, girls” is a Crue song, let’s be honest, Motley Crue tried copying Van Halen’s formula just like all those other 80’s bands. Make no mistake, VH is a 70’s group that shaped the 80s. No one EVER heard that guitar tone and those skills before Eddie. It’s so easy to overlook that now since so much time has passed. Imagine hearing “ Eruption” in January 1978 when it was released. VH wrote the book, and all those 80’s rockers (hair bands 🤦🏻♂️) were just along for the ride.
My choices are:
1) “I’m the one” (A “Swing” feel featuring a Doo Wop section and guitar playing that is STILL unmatched 🔥)
2) “Push comes to shove” (Dare I say, their attempt at Disco featuring one Ed’s most passionate solos)
3) “Little Guitars” ( please include the intro)
4) “Feel your love tonight” ( catchy pop tune, that will be stuck in your head for days)
5) “Drop dead legs” ( best “outro” solo, ever)
6) “Mean Street” ( their Masterpiece, in my opinion. Relentless groove)
Agreed.....1) “I’m the one” (A “Swing” feel featuring a Doo Wop section and guitar playing that is STILL unmatched 🔥)
I also love “Sinners Swing”
The drummer’s name is Alex Van Halen…my number one Rock Drumming God since 1979…and COUNTING!!!
This is probably my favorite VH tune. Such a great jam with all 4 members shining through! Solid pick guys!! Cheers
Bread - Guitar Man
The Hollies - Bus Top
Scorpions - Always Somewhere
Scorpions - Holiday
Kiss - Forever
Alex Van Halen - killing it on the Drums - and Eddie's brother.
Absolutely right Alex Van Halen is a killer drummer !!!
This song always brings back memories. It came out when I was in high school, and also the first time that my country ass went to the beach. Rode around listening to it looking at all the girls. Never seen so many beautiful women in one place before.
Underrated songs off this album...Light Up The Sky and Women In Love.
Best background vocalist ever=Michael Anthony. His harmonies are always spot on
“Ice Cream Man”. A sleeper into a banger.
Love me some Van Halen, both Dave and Sammie!!!
Fuck haters. Both are great.
God I loved van Halen in the 80s but when sammy hagar came on board, they were still fire, check out cabo wabo some time !!!!
Cabo Wabo and Summer nights are my favorites
"Dreams"
"Best Of Both Worlds"
Been too more Van Halen concerts than any other band Bon Jovi and the Grateful Dead are tie for second at 8 concerts each but VH more than doubles that number at 19! Every VH concert everyone didn't just stand up but up on the seats and it really makes your calfs ache but no one cared!!! My seats were the best gotten from the owner of Electric Factory Concerts and always on Eddie's side eyes same level about 10-12 feet away. The whole band just really really loved doing what they did and loved the fans. Always having fun and smiling and acknowledging the fans(actually returning salutes or hand gestures) the way they leaned on and sang with each other was them playing around and we all loved it! Eddie's smile was infectious and you could tell he loved every second of it. A few you'd like are "Secrets","Women in Love", "When it's Love" and their cover of "Dancing in the Streets" oh they had fun when Dave was there but he liked putting on his own show too but with Sammy it was way more natural the way they interacted! 😎🤙
What makes it so cool is that it's a shuffle groove.
YOU GUYS KILLED IT ON THIS SONG!! THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!! Such a fun song! Love you guys for sure!!! This song has everything and hearing DLR cut loose is great and funny! Guys a good VH pic would be them re-doing Linda Ronstadt's "Your No Good" . The guitar work is incredible and they totally VAN HALENIZED the song. These guys were just so talented and had the voices and that sizzling guitar tone. Your No Good - Van Halenized for sure!
Danny O'Keefe "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues" is a nearly forgotten folk rock crossover played on many rock and country stations back in the 1970s.
If you havent already, you have to react to Van Halen's "I'm the one" it will blow your minds. The energy is off the charts and Eddie absolutely rips it on the guitar solos. A must to listen to.
One of the first concerts I ever went to still 1 of my favorite albums..
Dave is the ring leader. Showing us three of the greatest musicians.
Yeah! This was always fun. Thanks for your reaction
Great song Girls,Girls,Girls is Motley Crue! Anyway how about Headeast ( LIVE) Never been any reason or Angel The Tower? Keep on rockin!
Great reaction, I saw them live twice in the 80's. Unbelievable shows and a ton of fun. Of course back in the day there was no such thing as non smoking venues. During second show I attended the Coliseum filled with smoke of different varieties and set off automatic fire system sprinklers and all. Crowd loved it!
PRICELESS!! May just be my Favorite reaction of yall's yet. LOVE YOU GUYS!! 😀 Be Blessed! 🙏❤️
Love this song .
and all of them from those 1st albums
" I love'em..........I need'em "
One of the heaviest Van Halen songs is On Fire from the first album. Great song
Can't wait until you do "hot for teacher"
Michael Anthony in the background 🤘
“Little Guitars” is another great tune.
Girls, Girls, Girls is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, released on May 15, 1987. The album contains the hit singles "Girls, Girls, Girls",
Haven't heard this in forever, such a fun song. Also like that you released this unedited!
You have to watch the movie "Better Off Dead", get some Van Halen in it with "Everybody Want Some", then go for "Hot for Teacher". The best Van Halen makes you feel like they were having fun.
I saw them twice, late 70s, So much fun. 🥳🎶🎵🎶
Marc Almond & Gene Pitney - Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart
SAW VAN HALEN IN 1982 at the Omni in Atlanta. So thankful I experienced EVH in this lifetime!! I I wish you could see the video of this song.. When Dave says " Hey, hey where you goin it is because he is trying to pull the shyest girl from the audience up on stage. And by this time in the show he is usually shirtless wearing nothing but leather chaps..So yeah, we were all loving it, as long as he didn't grab us!!❤️❤️ 😋.
Ah, yeah... beautiful girls
Y'all should check out "Little Guitars Intro" with "Little Guitars", next.
It’s hard to believe that this song is 43 years old! Time passes quickly!
I got chills on this one, I haven’t heard it in a while and it’s so bad a**!!! DLR’s voice is like no other I absolutely love him, always have since birth! But there is also NO background singer like their bassist Michael Anthony!! He’s totally under appreciated their songs would not have the same sound at all without him! But you’re right, each member is amazing in their own way and all have something amazing to contribute to each song! I’m so in awe of them 🔥I just have to add I LOVE the dual smiles on your faces during this song, cause that’s exactly what VH has always been about ❤️
Val halen always up there great song thanks guys enjoy yourselves and I hope everyone gets dancing
Yes young lady talked about their drummer on a lot of the videos and stuff that you watch or the songs that you listen to that is Eddie's older brother Alex I don't know if you ever found that out or not
David Lee Roth is the one and only lead singer of Van Halen my thought. Eddie was the king. Do Hot for the Teacher.
I completely agree!!!!
If you listen to VH closely, you hear a lot of 1940's swing!
Very much influenced by their father and his style of music.
Yup,Big Bad Bill!🎶
One of my favorite songs that never made the radio, and I’m happy it didn’t, was Full Bug off of Diver Down Try that one. It’s a great one
Trust me when I say you have to listen to I'm the One to hear the bands versatility. It was on their first album and really showed what the band was capable of.
You guys already did the original Kinks version of "You Really Got Me" and now you need to hear Van Halen's great cover! You'll love it! 👍❤😎
Van Halen has a really deep catalog, it's not all Jump and Hot for Teacher...Little Guitars, Little Dreamer, Drop Dead Legs, Jamie's Cryin..just to start
Would love to see you do some of David Lee Roth's solo work, like California Girls or Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody. Diamond Dave was a lot of fun.
I love how the humor thrown in there. At first, it sounds like he’s a real player, the man with the plan, but he still gets snubbed at the end. Doesn’t really dampen his spirits or enthusiasm for the ladies, though. And a perfect ending 💋
Since the school year is getting ready to start up again, gotta do "Hot for Teacher."😂 Amber has heard Panama, but not Jump. Their cover of "You Really Got Me" was intro'd by the "Eruption" solo and is a classic.
