From 1978 to 1984 VAN HALEN were the Greatest American hard rock band. Absolute Icons. You should check out the Live version of Unchained from Oakland in 1981.
Edward Van Halen was to music, especially the guitar as Albert Einstein was to Physicists. 🤩🥰 RIP Ed. Thank God your son Wolfgang is carrying on the Van Halen Legacy.
Welcome to my childhood. I used to get into my older sisters makeup and dress up to this song. Years later I’m in a traveling metal band for ten years. Y’all are awesome.
You're talking about the sound generated by an electric guitarist. Or, how hard the sound is. Roy Clark is the greatest guitar player ever. Eddie Van Halen asked Roy Clark for a lesson. Now, he played mostly an acoustic or banjo for his shows. But he played everything that had strings on it, including a 12 string electric. He was a humble man that never looked for the limelight. He was more proud to see someone on stage with him, that he had taught, than anything else.
They should absolutely watch Roy Clark play Malaguena. One of my favorite tunes and Clark absolutely slays it! 😊 ruclips.net/video/lxDQQDF6j0Y/видео.html
There are so many who are/were so very good, it's all about your own taste in music. None are trash. Hell, even Handyman Negri (Joe Negri) kills it on jazz guitar.
Remembering when Panama was on heavy rotation on MTV. My friends and I would dream about meeting Van Halen in person just knowing they had fun on stage. Great memories.
Being in my 50s I have heard many great guitarists. Eddie is No. 1 Jimmy hendrix 2 slash 3 Jimmy page 4 Eric Clapton 5. All of these guitarists just fabulous. The Edge from U2 is fantastic!!! Van Halen is just great RIP Eddie
Just a personal opinion, and he definitely has a lot of haters... But Slash is a bad guitarist. Slash is to guitars as Lars Ulrich is to drums. Absolutely respect your opinion, no doubt, but just wanted to share my own. :)
Eddie is infamous for his “Eruption” solo but for me it’s his riffs that make VH…..Because they create fun, cool “party” songs the structure themselves don’t allow for Eddie to go out blazing in 90 second/2 min solos which we all know he capable of doing…..That brown sound & innovation & cool ass riffs makes Eddie a GOAT
@@tomlochenour3729 it probably just me but I usually like the original better, but there is exceptions to the rule I dislike David Lee Roth he made me laugh
Agree, maybe the best front man ever, but the conflicts that follow when the front man becomes more than the band might be what led to their splitting. Always loved Sammy pre-Van Halen and they still did great stuff when he came in. Different good, but not better.
Top guitar players? So many great ones, and it's not a competition. It's music. I'll tell you who I really like/love in no particular order. Understand many of these guys play a bit different sound too so it's hard to compare even if I wanted to. Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knopfler, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Lifeson, Duane Allman, Dave Gilmore, Brian May, Jimi Hendrix. And many, many more.
Have to say Johnny Winter was the legend most of these guys dreamed of being. He's certainly right there with Page, Gilmore, and Clapton but probably had more talent.
"Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" "Dance the Night Away" "Beautiful Girls" "Unchained" "Jamie's Cryin'" "Everybody Wants Some" "Runnin' With the Devil." There's also the blues-influenced "Ice Cream Man"--which has absolutely nothing to do with ice cream, if you know what I mean.😁
Whenever VH came to town, it was the party of the year. I still remember the day after this show (for this tour), our school was completely filled with people wearing their new concert shirts. 1984 *everywhere*
As teachers, you need to listen to Hot for Teacher by these guys. A really good and fun song. Also, any list you get of the top ten guitarists needs to have Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits and Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd on it.
I once saw the lead singer of Van Halen, David Lee Roth, in concert. This was during the era when he was no longer with Van Halen. The concert started out with him in a boxing ring well above the crowd. Up there he was doing his martial arts kicks and flips. Then he got on a surfboard and glided, by wires, down to the stage. That was completely amazing to see in person! Good times!
My top 5 guitarists, in no particular order are: Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, David Gilmore and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I saw Van Halen in 1982, 1984, and 1986. Eddie had a broken wrist the first time and Sammy Hagar was the singer in 1986. So 1984 was the best concert by them.
The first time I saw Van Halen they were OPENING for Journey and they haven't even been on the local radio or MTV and we were like "Whats a Van Halen". Thirty seconds after they hit the stage we knew what a Van Halen was !!!!
Michael Schenker is probably my favorite guitarist for combining dazzling technique, melody, and soul. Peter Green for just sheer tone. I also love what Pete Townshend can do when he cuts loose on rhythm - check out him doing "Drowned" at the Royal Albert Hall.
Guitarists. Wow, I don't know how to rate one of the following over another. Off the top of my head, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Roy Clark, George Thorogood, Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Chuck Berry... what a huge rabbit hole to fall down.
Yeah, I don't really rate them as "better" or "best". One may be a better technician, one may play with more emotion, one may be better at a particular style... In addition to the ones you mention, there's BB King, Johnny Winter, Prince, Jeff Beck...
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 So true. Absolutely a matter of taste. Technique is vital of course, but there is that intangible something - the thing that appeals to the ear that you might not even be able to explain. Andres Segovia is considered the greatest classical guitar player and I've admired his playing when I've listened to it, but John Williams is the one whose playing pleases me. There are just certain players that you hear and immediately think "Oh, that's amazing". Since it is different for everyone, you won't get a universal list, though it says a lot that a number of players receive multiple mentions in this thread.
David Lee Roth was the extreme Showman as a front man. I loved all three VH singers. Roth was the party, Hagar was the Stadium Rocker, Gary Charone is underrated but the VH3 album was great.
Great choice!! My “Greatest of All-Time” list is as follows: 1. Randy Rhoads (Ozzy, Quiet Riot RIP) 2. George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob, etc.) 3. Stevie Ray Vaughan (RIP) 4. Michael Schenker (Scorpions, MSG) 5. Dimebag Darrell (Pantera, Damageplan) 6. Jeff Healey (RIP) 7. John Sykes (Whitesnake, Blue Murder) 8. Gary Moore (RIP) 9. Uli John Roth (Scorpions) 10. Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest) Honorable mention goes to Jimi Hendrix (the greatest), EVH, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing, Angus Young and Doug Aldrich!! Rob Family... you’ve done it again!!
Van Halen is my all time favorite band and when they came to town it wasn't just a concert for me and my friends, it was an event. The party atmosphere was electric in the building
@@colemitchell228 very underated. His guitar solo on La Villa Strangiato is thought and talked about it music schools I've read. He just gets over shadowed by the best drummer and bass player in my opinion.
Another really fun song & video by Van Halen is “Hot For Teacher” if you want to do more! As for guitarists, I just have one name for you: Nuno Bettencourt. He is a phenomenal guitarist that’s been compared to Eddie Van Halen many times over the years. He plays for a band called Extreme that you’ve heard of with “More Than Words” but that’s acoustic so check out some other stuff to really get a feel for him. I’d suggest “Get the Funk Out” or “Decadence Dance.” Get my favorite guitarist on the channel!
As far as I can see, RSR hasn't done any Extreme. Not even the ballad. Coincidentally, I saw a video of that song yesterday. Nuno in a duet with Steven Tyler. A performance at the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Concert.
1. EVH..... Inovatiion, constant search for tone, raw talent and pure, unadulterated love of music. Naturally gifted, his gift to the world wasn't his playing. It was his heart, mind and soul delivered through the unique sounds he brought to life one note at a time...
I think best guitarist for me due to how versatile, complex, and thought provoking he is, is Jimmy Page. Allot of guitarist were inspired by his playing and how free he was on it
I saw them on this tour July 7, 2984. That was a show I can remember like it was yesterday. My top guitarists Eddie Van Halen Stevie Ray Vaughan Randy Rhoads (early Ozzy) Kirk Hammett (Metallica) Dimebag Darrel (Pantera) David Gimour (Pink Floyd) Eric Clapton Jimmy Page (Led Zepplin) Jimmy Hendrix Roy Clark (You should look him up) I couldn't put them in order. there are a lot of different styles in there, and I like each for different reasons.
Ok I saw this concert live in Birmingham, AL in 1984, that was the name of the album. They looked just like this video live, it was incredible. Maybe my favorite live band, a lot of fun.
If you haven't heard, "I'm The One"......from their 1st album, you haven't heard Eddie in absolute beast mode. Period...... Ask almost any guitarist about that track and the difficulty to master the swing feel that Eddie delivers in spades.
You are 100% right. His playing on I'm the one is incendiary. It's jaw dropping and was done in a single take. There no-one like King Edward! Greatest guitarist of all time and one of the greatest musical talents to ever set foot on earth.
Even after DLR and VH split David continued to use the wire as a stage entrance. In 87 I saw him in Syracuse, NY and there was a boxing ring in the crowd. David entered the ring on a wire then lifted back up to the stage. I was 10th row center and was at the right front corner of the ring. Amazing show!
Eddie Van Halen is #1 for me. His guitar style of playing changed Rock and Roll forever and the way the guitar was played. I dk about #2 I love Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, SRV, Kirk Hammett, I mean the list goes on and on oh yeah Mark Knopfler he's badass too

I'm sure you wouldn't understand, but the greatest guitar player ever is Roy Clark. Eddie Van Halen tried to get a lesson from him. He wasn't a showman, and never sought out a lot of recognition
Van Halen one of the best rock bands of the 80's. Eddie Van Halen considered one of the best guitarists in the world, unfortunately passed away on October 6, 2020. He participated in the song "Beat it" by Michael Jackson playing his extraordinary guitar.
1984 was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, David Lee Roth was the lead singer at that time (then Sammy Hagger) later on. Van Halen, ...Phenomenally HUGE in the '80's!!!!!!!! Bob P, Mid Coast, Maine.
Thirty-eight years later and I've never seen anyone one that can replicate Eddie's iconic riff in this song. Many have tried, and all have failed. Eddie Van Halen made it all look just so easy.
I've seen them all in the 80's Rush, Van Halen, AC/DC, Scorpions, Journey, Motley Crew, Def Leppard. All good in concert. 1. Page 2. Hendrix 3. Clapton 4. Van Halen 5. Stevie Ray Vaughn
Guys, please..if you loved Panama, you HAVE to listen Ain't talkin about love. I think is the most badass song AND guitar riff in that I've ever heard. That song gives me chills EVERY single time.
One of the best and underrated guitarists out there is Billy Zoom from the band X. That man can strike a pose, playing insane picks while just smiling at how effortlessly he can do it! X is a punk LA band founded in the late 70's and still going strong. Rolling Stone cited their first album as Album of the Year and is still included in their Top 100 albums of all time. (Side note, Ray Manzurak, the keyboardist from the Doors, produced and played keyboards on their first 3 albums) Los Angeles, Hungry Wolf, Johnny Hit and Run Pauline (Live version freakin' RAWKS) and so many more are worthy of listening to. Their latest album, Alphabetland was released last Summer after a long hiatus of a couple of decades of producing (but the band toured their butts off the entire time). Lead singer, John Doe has a most impressive collection of solo albums and is an amazing storyteller (Amber, you'll love him!) "I don't say much more than a drunk in a bar, shooting his mouth off!" ~Matter of Degrees~ is off his first solo album and I take that quote to heart! Let me know if you're interested and I'll be happy to point you to other X must hears!!
I remember this video practically non stop on MTV back in 84. It was when I wanted to learn how to play the drums. Alex made it seem like playing drums was bigger than life. Lot of nostalgia for me with Van Halen. 🤘🤘
Another good one from Van Halen! Two of my favorite David Lee Roth solo hits are.... "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" "California Girls" He's so goofy in the videos. :)
It's hard to list a top ten because of taste and generations. My favorite is Roy Clark. Clark did a guest spot on the "Odd Couple" and he uses more technics than most people know. Hendricks was the best in his time, Van Halen is the best for his time. So was BB King, Glen Campbell, Jimmy Page and Townsend.
This is a *very* hard question unless you break it into generations. At random, Chuck Berry, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Richard Thompson, and Duane Allman are all in the conversation, and that's just 50's and 60's. Eddie is in a class by himself, though.
Robert Johnson, Wes Montgomery, Les Paul, Mike Bloomfield, Tommy Bolin, Frank Zappa, Alvin Lee, S.R.V., Johnny Winter can all be added to those mentioned above.
I just stumbled across that Roy Clark clip a few weeks back. I love acoustic guitar and so my list would be more like John Williams (top classical) and Paco de Lucia (best flamenco). I listen to a lot of Latin influenced players so have to name Oscar Lopez and Jesse Cook (I've seen both in concert). I remember seeing Roy Clark on Hee Haw when I was growing up so I knew he could play, but I had no idea he could play like THAT - that Odd Couple clip is jaw dropping. It made me start checking out more videos and wow, he was so much more talented than I realized as a kid. On a bit of a different note, while perhaps not necessarily top ten, I think Lindsay Buckingham is underrated.
Back in the early 90’s my husband was a security guard at the Estates that Alex,Eddie and their mother lived at. I only met them once and they were so nice. Every xmas Eddie and Valerie would give a 20 lbs turkey to each of the security. I barely could fit that thing in the fridge.
This album came out my senior year in high school. I have fond memories of listening to this song on the beach at Gulf Shores, AL during Spring Break my senior year.
the 70's through the mid 80's was an amazing time for music, and ALL the great music played on the radio all the time, im 62 and I guess I never grew up cause I miss it all so much
1. Eddie Van Halen 2. Jimi Hendrix 3. Jimmy Page 4. Eric Clapton 5. Stevie Ray Vaughan 6. Chet Atkins 7. Prince 8. Carlos Santana 9. Randy Rhoads 10. Jerry Reed

My #1 is David Gilmour. 2-10 (no order) Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, Glenn Tipton, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimi Hendrix, Kirk Hammett, Tony Iommi, Angus Young, Dave Murray. From 1978 to 1984 VAN HALEN were the Greatest American hard rock band. Absolute Icons. You should check out the Live version of Unchained from Oakland in 1981.
Unquestionably. I've always said every American rock band in the '80s were trying to be Van Halen.
Edward Van Halen was to music, especially the guitar as Albert Einstein was to Physicists. 🤩🥰 RIP Ed. Thank God your son Wolfgang is carrying on the Van Halen Legacy.
I saw this live, best show ever!!!
Was about to recommend Roy Clark, but you beat me to it.
They should absolutely watch Roy Clark play Malaguena. One of my favorite tunes and Clark absolutely slays it! 😊
ruclips.net/video/lxDQQDF6j0Y/видео.html
Roy Clark is so overlooked by many... the man was incredible
Jeff Lynn said it best in an interview.. about how glad he was Roy Clark and Glen Campbell went to Country so he wasn't unemployed
If you're gonna throw Eric Clapton in there I would have to go Stevie Ray Vaughan as 1st then Eddie then Clapton #4
Let me add Knopfler and Gilmour.
Just a personal opinion, and he definitely has a lot of haters... But Slash is a bad guitarist. Slash is to guitars as Lars Ulrich is to drums. Absolutely respect your opinion, no doubt, but just wanted to share my own. :)
Joe Satriani?
Eddie is infamous for his “Eruption” solo but for me it’s his riffs that make VH…..Because they create fun, cool “party” songs the structure themselves don’t allow for Eddie to go out blazing in 90 second/2 min solos which we all know he capable of doing…..That brown sound & innovation & cool ass riffs makes Eddie a GOAT
David Lee Roth was such a great front man for a band, his charisma and energy was cranked to 11 at all times.
Joey Beanz FBS is looking for you
Van Halen wasn't the same after David Lee Roth left it wasn't that fun Band anymore
@@joelteague2008 In my opinion they would’ve never lasted with David Lee Roth. Sammy wasn’t a bad choice, just wasn’t David Lee Roth
In 1984, I was 12 and recall standing in line to buy the record. Still have it. Great times and you seriously had to see them perform live.
I love, love, love this song!!! 80’s rule!!!
The video for this song is awesome. Shows how much fun these guys had doing this. I'm glad they were a part of my life. Thank you . Rip eddie.
Whenever VH came to town, it was the party of the year. I still remember the day after this show (for this tour), our school was completely filled with people wearing their new concert shirts. 1984 *everywhere*
Why Can’t This Be Love - Van Halen is another great upbeat tune by them! Love to see you react to this great classic!
Easily my favorite 🤩
As teachers, you need to listen to Hot for Teacher by these guys. A really good and fun song. Also, any list you get of the top ten guitarists needs to have Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits and Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd on it.
Alex Van Halen stole that drum intro from Eric Carr who used an exercise he called "Carr Jam" during sound-checks to warm up.
Good times!
This is the band that I forever will be sad that I didn't see live. They started very close to the part of Los Angeles that I grew up in.
From their huge album 1984. Hot for Teacher off this record was awesome too.
Also try Dreams with Sammy singing.
Definitely show Jump to Amber.
Chris you and I keep getting the sex comments, maybe we need to clear our browser history amigo. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@itsmedino That wouldn't help. We're not the only ones getting them. 🤣🤣
Great list, works for me!!
Hendrix and Van Halen- absolutely... and Steve Howe. After them is just a pick and choose.
Loving this list too, I'll go with EVH,SRV, David Gilmore, Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani, in no particular order
Duane Allman?
I too saw Van Halen in '82 when he had the broken wrist. My favorite concert memory. He was a god-like figure to me.
Vito Bratta!! major underrated guitarist of White Lion, from hard rock to super soulful blues.
Eddie Van Halen was a true musician. He played guitar, piano and drums. Extremely talented and David Lee Roth was a skilled gymnast and did karate.
And Eddie taught himself the guitar and couldn't read music. A natural!
Like Johnny and Edgar Winter. Go listen to them. :)
@Michele R I know of them well, but I didn't know they were naturals too. Thanks...I'll look that up!
David Lee Roth was the extreme Showman as a front man. I loved all three VH singers. Roth was the party, Hagar was the Stadium Rocker, Gary Charone is underrated but the VH3 album was great.
I don’t care what anyone else says… 80’s rock band concerts were THE BEST CONCERTS EVER!!!!!! 🤘🏽🎸
I agree! 🤘
It's because people had fun. Everybody now has to be so serious and such a downer.
100% correct!!
You bet your sweet ass, 80's Rock Bands were the best 😁✌️👍
Great choice!! My “Greatest of All-Time” list is as follows:
1. Randy Rhoads (Ozzy, Quiet Riot RIP)
2. George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob, etc.)
3. Stevie Ray Vaughan (RIP)
4. Michael Schenker (Scorpions, MSG)
5. Dimebag Darrell (Pantera, Damageplan)
6. Jeff Healey (RIP)
7. John Sykes (Whitesnake, Blue Murder)
8. Gary Moore (RIP)
9. Uli John Roth (Scorpions)
10. Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest)
Honorable mention goes to Jimi Hendrix (the greatest), EVH, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing, Angus Young and Doug Aldrich!! Rob Family... you’ve done it again!!
That's a refreshing list!
A very unique list we don't see allot of. Nice!
awesome list
Michael Shenker's best work was in UFO, in my opinion. Strangers In The Night is one of the best guitar albums ever made.
@@randybaker6042 agreed but have you heard Hackett and Howe when they formed GTR? check that out.
I only ever got to see Van Halen in concert one time. They absolutely freakin' ROCKED.
Eddie is my guitar player hands down. Followed closely by David Gilmour and Brain May. Prince is one of the most under rated guitar players there is
Brain May is also, naturally, a genius. 😁
thank you for the Brian May shout out.
Prince doesn't get enough credit for his guitar work
Van Halen is my all time favorite band and when they came to town it wasn't just a concert for me and my friends, it was an event. The party atmosphere was electric in the building
We used to jump around on the couch playing tennis rackets to this song back in the 80’s as kids when it was on Mtv! Lol 😂
I love when Amber closes her eyes and really feels the music. As if youre pleasantly lost.
Great Song Choice!! Your room looks great by the way✌️❤
1-Hendrix
2-Gilmour
3-Page
4-SRV
5-Van Halen
6-Lifeson
7-Clapton
8-Richards
9-May
10-Beck
Lifeson gets left off too many lists. He's top shelf.
I would replace May and Beck with Randy Rhodes and Toni Iommi. Just my opinion tho.
@@colemitchell228 very underated. His guitar solo on La Villa Strangiato is thought and talked about it music schools I've read. He just gets over shadowed by the best drummer and bass player in my opinion.
1-Hendrix
2-Eddie Van Halen
3-Angus Young
4-SRV
5-Carlos Santana
6-Slash
7-Ann Wilson
8-Randy Bachman
9-Mark Knopfler
10-Jimmy Page
Where is Gary Moore?
I used to work for Dave. He’s everything and more! Running With The Devil put them on the map, what a great song! ❤️😁
1984 as the best rock album of all time!
Greatest show of the 80's!
Who Dey -- Chase #1!!! Of course, another great reaction, thank you!!! Van Halen regardless whether Roth or Hagar is fantastic head-banging rock!
No top guitarist list would be complete without Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Slash, Joe Perry, & Alex Lifeson
@Bookhouse Boy Eric Clapton was once asked what it was like to be the greatest guitar player in the world. His response? "Ask Prince"
I would have to add Prince, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani Eric Johnson and Robin Trower to the list.
Most of my picks have already been mentioned, but here’s a couple more, Jeff Healey, Dimebag Darrell, SRV
I think best guitarist for me due to how versatile, complex, and thought provoking he is, is Jimmy Page. Allot of guitarist were inspired by his playing and how free he was on it
I always include Chuck Berry because he is the template.
I saw them on this tour July 7, 2984. That was a show I can remember like it was yesterday. My top guitarists
Eddie Van Halen
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Randy Rhoads (early Ozzy)
Kirk Hammett (Metallica)
Dimebag Darrel (Pantera)
David Gimour (Pink Floyd)
Eric Clapton
Jimmy Page (Led Zepplin)
Jimmy Hendrix
Roy Clark (You should look him up)
I couldn't put them in order. there are a lot of different styles in there, and I like each for different reasons.
Ok I saw this concert live in Birmingham, AL in 1984, that was the name of the album. They looked just like this video live, it was incredible. Maybe my favorite live band, a lot of fun.
Eddie Van Halen is one of the #1 guitars and I have seen them in the 80’s with big stage production in there prime.
If you haven't heard, "I'm The One"......from their 1st album, you haven't heard Eddie in absolute beast mode. Period......
Ask almost any guitarist about that track and the difficulty to master the swing feel that Eddie delivers in spades.
total genius
YES!!! That would be my recommendation too!
I dk about #2 I love Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, SRV, Kirk Hammett, I mean the list goes on and on oh yeah Mark Knopfler he's badass too
Van Halen were just amazing, both in the studio and live. No one sounded like them, but lots of other bands tried to copy that sound.
Top ten 1:Eddie Van Halen 2:Jimi Hendrix 3:Ritchie Blackmore 4:Angus Young 5:Jimmy Page 6:Randy Rhodes 7:Joe Satriani 8:Yngwie Malsteen 9:Stevie Ray Vaughn 10:Rik Emmett 🤘
That’s a great list. I got them in different orders though
Great list... would put steve Vai over joe tho
Nice list! I'd add the riffmaster, Tony Iommi, to the mix.
I'm sure you wouldn't understand, but the greatest guitar player ever is Roy Clark. Eddie Van Halen tried to get a lesson from him. He wasn't a showman, and never sought out a lot of recognition
@@fr00tcaketheclowntm Or Alan Holdsworth that was One of Eddies favorite
Ain't Talkin Bout Love is also great song off their first album!!!
The footage at the beginning was from the Philadelphia Spectrum. I was at that concert. Such a fun band.
This is the most fun song by Van Halen, the great Eddie... Oh 😳 RIP.... This band is one of their best... "Pull my seat back" then just more JAM!
Check out their version of "You Really Got Me" from their debut album. It's a classic.
I've seen them all in the 80's
Rush, Van Halen, AC/DC, Scorpions, Journey, Motley Crew, Def Leppard. All good in concert.
1. Page 2. Hendrix 3. Clapton 4. Van Halen 5. Stevie Ray Vaughn
1. SRV 2. Santana 3. EVH 4. Vernon Reid 5. Jeff Healey 6. Hendrix 7. Angus 8. Rhoades 9. Clapton 10. Slash
Guys, please..if you loved Panama, you HAVE to listen Ain't talkin about love. I think is the most badass song AND guitar riff in that I've ever heard. That song gives me chills EVERY single time.
This is from their album "1984" which also includes "Jump" and "Hot for Teacher"
Got to see them in concert in the early eighties. Such a fun concert!
(Side note, Ray Manzurak, the keyboardist from the Doors, produced and played keyboards on their first 3 albums)
Los Angeles, Hungry Wolf, Johnny Hit and Run Pauline (Live version freakin' RAWKS) and so many more are worthy of listening to.
X would be a good Female Friday selection.
@@LiberalsArePoop My Goodness would be a nice reaction.
My all time favorite lead guitarist is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits!! His Sultan of Swing of course is my all time favorite song!!
Killin it with Van Halen!!
"Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody"
"California Girls"
He's so goofy in the videos.
Cool that you mention Roy and Glenn as great players. They tend to get overlooked mainly because they are better known in country music.
Dagnabit, forgot Dave Gilmour.
Fun fact- the lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen played the guitar solo on Micheal Jackson’s “ Beat It” from Thriller… RIP to both .. 🎤🎸🙏🏾🙏🏾
Ah, Van Halen. Feb 29th, 1992, Columbia, SC. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour. What a show!!!

Back in the early 90’s my husband was a security guard at the Estates that Alex,Eddie and their mother lived at. I only met them once and they were so nice. Every xmas Eddie and Valerie would give a 20 lbs turkey to each of the security. I barely could fit that thing in the fridge.

3) Jeff Beck
4) George Lynch
5) Stevie Ray Vaughn
You're missing Jimmy Page
Chicago's Terry Kath is way up there also. Jimi Hendrix held him in VERY high regard.
Santana
Best Guitarists: Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix. They're each very different but they're all on the same level talent wise, IMO
Stevie Ray Vaughn. Roy Clark, Brad Paisley, Joe Walsh and Glen Campbell.
Vinnie Vincent never quiet got the credit for what he wrote and how he played/performed.
It's hard to pare a list like this down to 10 ! But my list also includes Tom Scholz.
This album came out my senior year in high school. I have fond memories of listening to this song on the beach at Gulf Shores, AL during Spring Break my senior year.
