I actually thought that this movie of dragon ball would be the franchise's first attempt into a darker dragon ball series, like, dragon ball dark. Because, we were stepping into an era when dark angsty hero brooding stuff got popular. I was expecting a new db series with goku jr, a more serious, lonely and brooding version of goku and vegeta jr both like outcasts in the world trying to find their place, working together against new threats, doing with what they have, trying to hold the saiyan legacy together since they were the only saiyans left by the end of heroes legacy and pan as well.

That's actually interesting though. I like to imagine a GT sequel where Goku Jr goes down a darker path, unlike Goku while Vegeta Jr become more heroic and empathetic, not like Vegeta and a bit more like Trunks while maintain their core ideals their ancestor embodied.

Theres a lot to love in this movie. But I still can't stand the child super saiyan crap like just because they have gokus genetics somehow their weak untrained bodies can just handle going super saiyan for no reason. But that's been an issue since goten and trunks. So I don't hold a big grudge against this movie for it. The throw backs to OG dragon ball are fantastic.
