8:26 - If you were confused by this, Goku was listing off the antagonists he faced during the OG Dragonball series, excluding Cell. People that are either his friends now or pose absolutely no threat to him in terms of power.
But I'm assume the joke is that- because they impacted his life so much as a child, in his simple mind, he still considers them dangerous. Enough so that he'd go and ask them if they destroyed an entire galaxy
And if you think about it (which I never did until just now, despite having seen this movie several times), Goku asking if Piccolo destroyed South Galaxy is probably what lead to Piccolo heading to New Vegeta in the first place. Realizing that something's going on when Goku asked that question, then teleported away. And since Goku didn't give any further information, Piccolo decided to investigate the matter himself.
Goku calling Pilaf a monster in the rone he does really cracks me up. I've got to imagine he went to ask him at like max power level

8:55 - if Goku can sense someone's energy, then he can teleport to that location. You'll pretty much always see him teleport to someone as opposed to teleporting to a random empty location since he usually relies on someone's energy to act as a beacon
Why was Nappa wearing Jafar's hat? Well, Jafar was also a Grand Vizier, to the Sultan in Aladdin, it's a position that's similar to a Prime Minister who still serves a Monarch. So it's just a little reference to that. Also, Vegeta named Paragus HIS Grand Vizier and Paragus responds with, "Big shoes to fill!" referring to Nappa.
On a side note, Paragus's line, 'You see King Vegeta, you're not dealing with the average Saiyan Warrior anymore!" is a callback to Vegeta using that same line against Frieza back on Namek, like 5 times. So Vegeta is being struck by the irony of that line being used against HIM this time around.
In the original, I think they spent about 15 or 20 minutes trying to convince Vegeta to give Goku energy so they made the joke by cutting all that out and having Vegeta just interrupt Goku with “Eff it you have it just go!”

Vegeta kept telling Frezia that he wasn’t dealing with the average Saiyan warrior anymore, and some 30 episodes and several movies later, he finally has someone use it on him. That’s why he said no the way he did at around 18:45

Jafar was the Grand Vizier to the Sultan in Aladdin. The same position that Nappa held with King Vegeta. (I have no idea if thats canon, or just something TFS added in)

That's not true. broly hating on Goku because of crying is a misconception. It was never mentioned in the Japanese dub that he hates him specifically for crying

As for following energy, that's actually how the Instant Transmission works. Goku can't just teleport wherever he wants (contrary to him trying to investigate South Galaxy in this). Instant Transmission only works if its user can lock onto the energy of another individual, thereby teleporting to the destination of that energy source. Abridged never really explains that, though.
That line was definitely from “No Church in the Wild.” Great Frank Ocean feature.

Just watched this recently. As in yesterday, and now you’re watching it. Lol
1) that tiara Brolys wearing at first is a mind control device. He was so destructive Paragus put it on him then realized he had the perfect weapon under his control so he kept broly enslaved.
2) gokus crying is a childhood trigger from when he was stabbed as a baby and the planet blew up. Just set him off enough to break the mind control. He didnt care about goku specifically, he was just last man standing. (In original japanese its just broly being a saiyan and sensing how strong goku is, he just got itching for a fight THAT bad that he broke the mind control. In the actual movie he even attacked goku in the middle of the night before in a small fight scene.)
3) broly getting dumber as it goes on is a joke at how the videogames just had him screaming "kakarot" as his victory pose, so thats all a lot of people ever heard him say. In the actual movie hes a constant stream of trash talk.

They just gave Nappa the Jafar hat because he was King Vegeta's advisor like Jafar was for the Sultan in the Aladdin movie.
I love TFS take but they actually cut out a lot from the movie. Goku actually arrives much earlier than the fight. There's a whole scene where they spend a night on the planet where Broly loses control and you learn about his fathers control device on him. Also Broly never spoke in his normal Saiyan form in the movie. He mostly just grunted which was probably due to the control device his father used to keep him calm. FYI the control device is actually the headband you see him wearing with the green Jewell. You'll notice he no longer has it once he goes Legendary. It's why when i first saw this I laughed so hard at his voice because I was not expecting him to talk let alone like that.
In the commentary for this they said their favorite thing in reactions is to see peoples reaction to the “slaves”

I love how nearly every reaction to this movie has people losing their minds when broly just tanks the barrage of punches from Goku and piccolo lol. The slapping sounds just make it even more hilarious

I posted this on another reaction of broly and just in case we'll see the usual "yep actually real it's litteraly in the movie."
Broly never went crazy and hated goku because he cried. As shown in the movie and reitered in DBS broly, that power was so much that it drove him close to insanity or more so, a pure sayan. We see him as a kid, absolutely going mental and destroying everything in sight to the point of hurting his father from his fury.
During the whole movie we see broly trying to control and not go crazy and paragus created the artifact just for that purpose because he even feared for his own life.
Why we see them as babies then? Well again, just like DBS broly is it fate. Paragus himself talks about their fate being Linked since they were born on the same day.
Goku wakes up broly's fury and sayan instinct.
The flashback just shows that despite being such a weak baby kakarot manage to disturb broly despite his insane strenght. The medical guys even says so "that kakarot has guts".
Much like Vegeta's vs Goku back in early Z, this is to show the sayan views, Broly is the legendary super sayan he represent the ultimate sayan. So by his strenght he views himself as superior and hate how someone like goku resist him.
Btw in the first movie, broly don't actually just shouts KAKAROOOOT over and over again. He actually has dialogues, this misconception is from the next broly movie where he actually just shouts Kakarot most of the time.
Here, now, PLEASE, dragon ball fans :
1 - Stop taking PARODIES as actuals sources.
2 - Stop using the english dub as reference. It has mistranslation and outright invented dialogues that contradicts the very material they are supposed to dub.
3 - Actually watch the fucking sources, in this case, actually watch the movie, not just clips or parodies. And if you do and want to actually go deep and analyses characters, do it in japanese.
The original movie was one of my first introductions to the series. I had it on VHS along with Cooler. As a kid i didnt think to much about it. But them making fun of Broly’s backstory is so funny. He is the strongest Sayain. He has all this awesome power and a cool design. And his backstory is Goku cried when he was a baby lol
One of the villains Goku lists off that he met when looking for who blew up south galaxy is Pilaf who is a dragon ball villain. They had plans on commissioning a scene to be animated for it but didnt have time. I saw this movie around the time it first came out... it was really this dumb. Broly is literally motivated by a crying baby. I guess they wanted to find a way for Broly to hate Goku, but since their planet was destroyed when Goku was a baby, they couldn't think of anything else to tie them together.

Sadly in this movie that was the reason why Broly hated Goku (it was really stupid) he basically was a monster with huge power but was a baby. The reason he was defeated If I'm not wrong was that he had so much power that his body wasn't able to handle it and the stab wound that king Vegeta gave him was a weak spot (I'm not sure if this explanation is 100% accurate but that's the jist of it)
The good thing is that the movie ruined Broly's characters they made more movies but it kept getting worse but luckily in 2018 we got a new remake of a Broly movie in Dragon Ball Super and this Broly was a naive boy who was nice but was being controlled by his father for revenge against Vegeta and more importantly didn't knew Goku

The stab wound weak spot + Broly's mention of his ki overflowing thus not being able to control it are theories to why he died and exploded.

The whole "Broly hates Goku because he cried as a baby" thing (sadly) is something that the original _Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan_ movie had. And it's SO stupid.
Now, there is a fan theory out there that it's not that Broly specifically hated Goku because he cried. It's that Goku was crying when King Vegeta tried to execute Broly as a baby via stabbing him in the abdomen, throwing him in the trash, and the destruction of his home planet triggering his latent powers to survive. So, Goku and his true Saiyan name triggers Broly subconsciously and associates his trauma with the very memory of him.
And as fan theories go, this is plausible. Because I've dealt with something like this with my sister. But the reason this is still just a fan theory is because, if this was what the original creators of the movie were going for, they did a really bad job of conveying it. And it does come off as fans desperately trying to justify it (called "reaching").
That fan theory though still doesn't address the biggest problem with Broly's backstory. How the hell is it that his trauma is tied to Goku? Even if he has trauma from crying, he was a baby who probably never heard Kakarot's name. And if he had overheard Kakarot's name, no amount of explanation will convince me that an infant would be able to attach that name to a very specific individual, let alone the one whose crying terrorized him. So why would his trigger be the name Kakarot, instead of the sound of crying?

@@slowodanx I don't know if I would go quite that far. It's certainly not one of my favorites though, due in part to Broly's ridiculous motivation, and overall just being a very uninteresting villain besides.
