    Pretty impressive Chuck. I am always amazed how cheap some of these items are. I’m sure there are some that would expect that vice to be perfect at that price. If you were to bring me that vice to inspect I would have to charge you more to inspect it than the vice cost. Nice Review Chuck. Gary

    I have similar 4” like that, and a 4” double station as well, great value for $$, no bragging rights but plenty of function, and being very light / easy to move around is 👍👍

    I bought a vertical mill slide for my 250G lathe, came with a drill press which didn't impress me and I was looking to replace it. Your review of the VEVOR vise impressed me and it was exactly the size I was looking for, so I bought one.
    What surprised me even more it cost me $AUD 83 delivered as I live in Australia. That's a first costing less than you can get it is the USA (equivalent $USD 55). Chears

    got one of their bigger vices but might buy two of these to clamp longer pieces under my milling machine , there not as high as the big vice either when you take the swivel base out from under it

    It would seem fair to compare to a high dollar vise, something that you must have on hand. The jaws are frequently milled once a vise is trammed, as long as the ways are flat. I got rid of my large vise because it hangs over the front of my mill table an annoying amount, and replaced it with a pair of 4" SPI sourced (Eron) vises mounted a few inches apart, side by side. This gives a ~12" long jaw clamp in the X direction. The other nice feature of the smaller vises is they are so low that I can keep my 4th axis rotary and tail stock on the table because most of my rotary work will ride above the vises without removal.

    I'm thinking about buying 5 of the, then surface grind all of them on bottom surface to make sure they are even and use them on my cnc for serial production of smaller parts.

    I've got the 6" Vevor (got it about a month ago) in the non-swivel. It's great! It's on my CNC converted "G0704". Because of its limited Y travel, you pretty much have to run it sideways.

      Same here. I found the vice bed to be about half a thou. The top of the vice jaws was a couple of thou from memory.. One of these days I'll set the cup grinding wheel up in the mill and take a skim off the top. Other than that I am impressed!

    The thing you need to check is Jaws side to side and how the jaw moves front to back compared to the stable jaw
    I believe mine comes from India and the movable jaw id like a dish, it moved at an angle not straight so theu made the fixed jaw crooked. To account for that.

  • @melgross
    @melgross Год назад +1

    You really need to remove the movable jaw and sweep the entire bed. Not just in a line, but the width of the bed rails too. Also, find if the fixed haw it perpendicular to the bed. Then put a reliable parallel vertically in the jaws in the middle. Close so that it just barely holds it firmly. Measure vertically, them close tightly as though you were actually going to mill and measure again. Thus needs to be done while screwed down on the mill table. A lot of buses will have the bed bend when this test is done and the part moves away from vertical.
    A problem when the bed is different from one side to the other is obvious. Even a one half thousandths difference between the heights of the two sides is a problem. Since we align the bottom of a part on that bed a 6” long part will be over a full though from end to end on that vise, not good for parallelism or for fitting two parts together as neither will be parallel.
