Amen, as a people, we're living the lives that our parents, grandparents, great parents and the generations after the slave trade woulda loved to live. the problem with the black community atp is lack of accountability and lack of being grateful to live a life with far less racism and segregation compared to a few decades ago
Akron, OH is 67% white and suffering to nearly the same degree as Gary. Knowing that, ask yourself, is it a brown people issue, or a lack of opportunity/economic issue?
Understand adults only have 2 choices in Gary: move & leave everyone they grew up with/their family behind, or continue to suffer in an unwinnable economic situation. Children in Gary don't have ANY choice, they suffer until they're 18 and can decide to move out and live a lonely life in a more prosperous city. When you know average home values in your neighborhood won't reach above $50,000 anytime before 2050 simply because whites are scared to move into/invest in your neighborhood, it DE-INCENTIVIZES you from trying to keep up your home, painting it every few years, mowing the lawn, etc.

I know some retiree's (white) that grew up and lived in Gary for decades prior to this "white flight". They loved it. It wasn't until they noticed their neighbors and neighborhoods started degrading with lack of care and increase crime that they decided to move the next town south. Few decades later, same thing, they moved 2 towns further lol. If you don't care for your neighborhood and property, people notice and will move elsewhere if they so desire. That's what I believe happened.
Wow, the lack of accountability residents have in this video is so frustrating. At some point you need to look in the mirror and ask "am I the problem?" Stop blaming everyone else for your situation.

The legislation squeezes out the urban/minorities areas of the state and drains economic resources, funneling them into white areas. They may not realize it but living in the city that makes the majority of the state tax revenue yet has very little resources and outlets it becomes very obvious. Look at the Indianapolis public schools system and how state legislators have decimated funding to the program if you need an example.
