the dudes who were tagging along honestly seem like good bright dudes who just fell victim to their environments. wish them the best
its like that most of the time
Some funny ass guys for real🤣
That’s Gary for you
Amazing how people change their actions when they’re on camera…
@@sullivan9191 I’m assuming the reason you believe people aren’t being genuine on camera is because you’re disingenuous on camera. Your comment screams projection. Except I don’t know you, just as you don’t know them, so I could be wrong.
Mad respect for SOB for censoring himself in front of the pastor while rapping. That shows respect. 👊🏽
💯💯💯💯
Him? It’s a crew.
MUCH RESPECT
SOB Odee and everyone else has a good head on their shoulders
What a stupid comment.
It’s refreshing to see a a sense of community that’s not purely hostile with a thug life mentality. They seemed open minded, inquisitive, civilized/ educated, and eager to enrich themselves and the community. Respect. It gives me hope for the future of America’s struggling towns
They literally committed crimes in this video and you praise them. I bet that you are a liberal who tolerates anything, even if it harms you. You wrote one of those bot-like comments that always want to support but never offer criticism where it's due.
it's funny how a small percent of our ppl who are in gangs outshine us who are not in gangs😂😂
Lmfao, the media and the government portray that lifestyle. Lmfao the hell
@@MunnaWill07what do you mean by “outshine@
@@TreyMessiah95it means a small percentage like $390,000 blacks are in gangs okay and 490000 Hispanics are in gangs and 130000 whites are in gangs
I like how bro asked “you good my boy?” That’s a true friend.
SOB Jerro was thinking real hard about his life choices when the pastor was talking. Nice to see a community come together to try and bring life back to their homes.
Love my city we just need more love man
I was thinking the same thing. A spark can ignite the mind. I hope he plays on that. Good luck Gary.
He sounded fruty if you know what i mean😂
@@jihadiijoenah We don’t 😂
@@JerroSlummo im just playing yall Seem like cool guys 😂😂😂
This wasn’t even close to what I was expecting. These guys aren’t your typical youngsters, they’re actually pretty intelligent. I’m glad to see that there are still people taking pride in their community. There’s not a question in my mind that Gary is on the rise.
Gary isn’t on the rise. Everyone moved and everything is abandoned
Cool... ghetto trash that can read. Wow! Real good people to have faith in. Clown.
i moved from gary to a town over call cal township. it’s abandoned asf potholes on every SINGLE RODE😂houses and buildings are falling apart. literal ghost town
Gang bangers, drugs, murder, and money. Looks like a town on the rise 😂
I wish it was, but imo it seems like it’s not on the rise; it’s just not as far gone as other places yet.
Takes a lot of courage to do what he does. Does it in a way that’s respectful and relatable, while spreading his positive message. So cool man. Major respect.
You’re doing flips on that meat. Stop that. It’s the same old shit every video
takes courage to profit off of our poverty😂
He asks the worst questions ever, Blatantly obvious nonsense questions. First and last video I'll watch and i doubt I'll make it to 10:00
I'm from Chicago originally but moved to Hammond, Indiana when I was a kid which borders Gary. My dad and several family members actually stat in Gary. It's definitely a ghost town and has some shady people but also has many good people as well. I once explored an abandoned school in Gary off 5th Avenue when I was about 16 or 17 and it was scary asf but my cousins friend had a gun on him so we felt safe. My boyfriend explored an abandoned school as well years back but they all got the cops called on them and the cops left them there.
It's sad how the American government just leaves its own communities on its own soil like this. America needs to do better for the people of its country. One of my former close friends was actually arrested a month ago for a murder that happened in Gary... I haven't talked to him in 6 months or seen him in 2 years and everytime we did talk I asked him to lay off the drugs and stay out the streets but he never listened to me.
It's a sad world and our government doesn't care about us so we have to care about ourselves and each other.
How long ago was this? I think Ik exactly what school your talking about
these kids were born in america there parents were born in america their grand parents were born in america and they think they gangstas😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@kingpotent3950 take a trip to gary and youll be begging to go back to whatever country you're from lmaoo
The American people need to clean house when it comes to government. Especially the feds, they hate America and it really shows.
NOT tough at all . not even like that in gary lol
Im glad you ran into the guy with the urban farm. While some have accepted the decay there are others trying to grow something new and useful.
Pastor Whittaker didn’t seem to have much love for Tommy G 😂
@burnout_MEDIA I know what was that about lol brushed him off when he asked that first question.
The chemistry between you and the Gary boys was awesome! Ya’ll could totally do an urban ghost exploration show.
SOB seem like some smart dudes, them boys got it fr & they respectable.
yea they don't seem like hardened gangsters that kill people, they're just normal dudes that smoke weed and rap lol .. nothing like detroit or chicago
I’m from Gary,IN and Appreciate you coming out here and not having a negative interview fr💯 much love we already have nothing but poverty and crime I see how most of these interviews go and this is the best
Do yall live by a volcano or by a major fault line or anything of the sort? JW cuz Scary Gary would definitely be better off Blown sky high.
The urban farmers are a big part of bringing Gary back up. Glad you interviewed them!
Thx for the comment

White boi funny as hell , he remind me of my homeboy back in the day always playing around n shit 🤣
From all the videos that i have watched, this is by far your best and most uplifting thag i have seen. Thank your for your work and stay frosty.
I live about 20 minutes away from Gary and always hear bad things about it. “You shouldn’t go anywhere near that area.” This video really gives me a different perspective on things, great work man.
Don’t let this video change your perspective. Stay away lol
dont listen to the other guy. still be cautious of where you are at no matter what its awesome what a change of perspective can do. Atleast you now know from the video that real people who want to make a change exist in Gary and are helping and working everyday to make that a reality of making Gary a great place.
Gary sucks bro. Murder Rate only second to STL@@lilbiscuitjz171
You’ll be fine bro. If you ain’t repping nothing or part of the shit the shit won’t come to you. Gary’s peaceful if you don’t got any affiliation yk.
Same here, I've been throughout the city, the goods places and the bad. I'd advise to stay away if you can't handle the pressure from the environment. It's truly a struggle out there, some wish to leave, and some hold other back from leaving, almost like a matrix.

Love seeing someone who grew up near me doing work like this. So many people from the suburbs judge others harshly instead of going out of their way to understand other people’s situations. The way you go about things is so encouraging. It shows everyone’s humanity.
I love that urban farming thing man. That is such a dope idea. I've said for years that EVERY neighborhood should have a community garden that ONLY those who help can use but, they pay with their work and labor to grow it.
Right on the money sir

i love seeing indiana. any part of indiana, it’s my hometown and it’s wonderful to see ANY part of it being shown off. beautiful video.
You probably don’t remember me, but we met in Milwaukee @ Collrctivo like four years ago, before your RUclips channel popped off, and you’re still doing videos in the city. I’m glad I’ve been with you from the beginning! And I look forward to more of your videos!!!
Tommy makes some informative videos sprawling all of America. I really appreciate how he went into this looking for the destroyed parts of town, but what he found was people working hard to rebuild the town. Great video!
Urban farming! LFG! Like Tommy said, a lot of people in poor areas only have access to bad junk food from corner stores and gas stations. Love that they are putting out free produce, eggs, etc. Wish we could start a gofundme for them to build it up or buy more land. So dope.
Yes. Urban farming is the wave its what we do thx.

This has been my favorite video.
You genuinely seeked to find ways to not only relate with, but open their eyes as well in a manner that I don't even really think they noticed. Which makes no argument or resentment happen. Such a real and fluid guy you are and I really admire how you've handled yourself.
You're certainly doing God's work. You earned me as a sub that's for sure

Wow, never thought I'd see somewhere I'm at multiple times a week on Tommy gs channel! Love to see it
Love all your videos keeping it real take care out there much love from the UK
3:20 is my exact motivation for when i become a police officer ( currently in school for it ) i know people hate cops and so did i growing up i ran from cops more than criminals. i want to be the best police officer i could be , use my judgement first before pushing a legal agenda, i hope me and everyone else on a similar journey to becoming a cop treat ur people in ur city with respect and strive to be that cop that everyone loves. be nice , be kind and don’t abuse your power guys ❤️
Tommy another great video that shows the way these run down abandoned towns/cities don't have to be full of kids where there's nothing for them except hanging on the streets killing each other. The older generations that put their time and money into creating places like the farm you visited for everyone to get involved is one of the best starting points. Young kids usually love getting involved coming down and helping out growing produce they can eat and rearing animals that also provide food, it gives them a purpose something to do that also helps then shape their futures because they're learning new skills. Inner city London UK the locals started doing ghis aswell because we have alot of knife crime with youngsters and its great to see these kids really enjoying being part of something other than street life.
The most wholesome episode yet. Much love tommy g!
Living near South Bend and growing up around here, I always find these documentaries interesting.
I like the fact that you drop gems and keep a positive vibe in your videos. I'm from Gary and the city is filled with beautiful people, trying to make a difference. Great video.
In my experience Gary has some of the warmest/friendlist people in the country. Ive only been a couple times but I absolutely loved the city.
Love these videos man, not drawn out hour long videos. Show you real life in different places but always keeping a positive message
Amazing content, like usual Tommy.
Hey man! born and raised in Woodstock IL over here! Honestly hes right! If they did want to solve the problem, we'd have to educate and send them back to police their own neighborhoods to pay back the education. They would know more and it would mean more to the young officers. God bless that church, that pastor is awesome!
You’re such an amazing human being Tommy! I love that you treat people like people no matter what their circumstances are. Another awesome video, can’t wait for the next one!

I used to explore Gary every weekend. I've spent a lot of time in the places you filmed. It's nostalgic for me
Yessir been asking for this
I joined a road trip last year and went from Michigan, through Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and even into Minnesota, We stopped in Chicago IL, Lacrosse WI and in Gary IN to get some Harolds Chicken, while in Gary we also stopped at a Walgreens or CVS I can’t remember. The people inside the stores were very nice and I didn’t see any of the negativity besides the actual geography. It was very flat and depressing with all the abandoned buildings, land and structures. I am from Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Yea it’s pretty flat in IL and IN
That man who's showing his community how to grow their own food and raise animals I wish the absolute best, what an asset to that community!
You should went into underground rooms& tunnels when you were in Cincinnati. I grew up & lived just north of Cincy my whole life until 2 years ago. Anyway doing construction work & renovations on only buildings downtown. There a labyrinth of huge room& passageways 2 to 3 stories under the City! They connect to different buildings, under the streets. Idk where all they go but I know the Findlay Market area is loaded with them! From what I understand they were used for prohibition & underground railroad. It's hard to believe how big the rooms are once you're down there. I have no idea how they dug them out & building them that far down!???
growing up in Gary definitely shaped how I see life and keeps my ambition and passions strong!
i've been listening to SOB odee for a lil minute now. awesome to see you making a video with him 😂
Me too I heard boom and started listening ever since
Rs bro under rated, we’ve got some hella tough artists here in Indiana, Michigan they just needa boost hella potential here from sports music work ethic etc
I like how the episode took a turn and you found a gem in the ghost town
Everybody keeps saying education, education but the key is mindset mindset mindset. Everything is a mindset.
We were on our way from a small town in Wisconsin to a wrestling tournament in Michigan and we had to stop for gas in Gary. The stop we got off on literally had 1 gas station and the rest was abandoned buildings and honestly was like a ghost town. I live in a nice neighborhood in a small town, so seeing that made me feel like dang, this is a rough city and it must be rough for people growing up there.
I didn't know you grew up in Crystal Lake! Always heard that subtle Chicagoland accent. Greetings from St. Charles, thank you for the content.
Tommy g is from Milwaukee that’s how he got famous is from the Kia boys and certified trapper I think he did a video wit him not sure about that but he def did a Kia boy episode tha blew him up
A Filmmaking Critique for Tommy G,
1. You introduced a playful story of a gangster ghost town, but narrated it with a very honest, realistic depiction and tone. Giving the viewer a confident perception of the video and what to expect.
2. You introduced three hoodlums with minimal introduction and lots of dialogue showing natural, purposeless conversation and behavior. Continuing to depict the negative environment through interviews or encounters with the police. At this point youve built your world and the Mysterious Protagonist (You) and his consistent fun loving side characters slowly unrevealing their substance/relatability (SOB). I love this because I didn't expect the upcoming twists you experienced to collapse my assumptions.
3. Slowly giving the spot light to positivity by introducing the church members and their garden. Only soon after giving the audience a HUGE unexpected reward with the unknown bystander *doubting the rapper*-- adding to the dialogue with suspicion introducing suspicion to the viewers perspective. Until the SOB member spits the craziest cinematic beautiful song to rap and completely shifts the viewers awareness. I loved this scene.
4. The knockout for satisfaction is the moment you introduced the woman who tells their story better than a Beast Philantropy video, and I love Dan! You crushed the level of story and plot points, your editor crushed the pacing and shot selection.
Im rooting for you.
