In the next 15 years the Clinic, the city of Cleveland, and the state of Ohio will continue to cleanse East Cleveland. The gentrification will push those that remain further into the shadows and poverty. In 30 years they’ll be gone completely. The Euclid corridor from E55 through to University Circle and 5 blocks in every direction will be a multicultural hotspot filled with businesses, restaurants, shops, and residential area. In 50 years, if this continues, the whole area from I90 in the north to Opportunity Corridor on the South. E55 on the west and E105/MLK on the east will be one of the hottest spots in Ohio if not the country to live.

The same populace that just elected a black mayor left in droves only because he was black. Furthermore, To claim white flight has the power to devastate a city, is to claim that whatever populace remains is incapable of maintaining what has already been built and maintain order, let alone provide opportunity and build towards a bright future. Are white people uniquely qualified to provide opportunity? Is opportunity even something that people should expect someone else to provide? My wife was born there, but raised in Chicago. Right now, Gary is more sad than dangerous. To have lived in an era when you can remember how it was a thriving steel hub for the nation, to the ghost town it is today is disheartening.

First I wanna say cleveland even with it's struggles is an amazing city along with all of NEO. Amazing things haven happening here for years now. East Cleveland was supposed to be annexed into cleveland given they can't provide basic services for themselves until it's more recent mayor immediately killed the deal. It's a crying shame whats happening there since some of America's best architecture used to be here and it breaks myvheart to see it all go. Hell, Rockefeller used to live in EV Mind you EC is immediately adjacent to University Circle which houses some of the best hospiral systems in the world, a top tier University and an all around great neighborhood. North East Ohio is very "balkanized" so people get a little crazy when it comes to sharing resources or losing any sort of autonomy
