The dude has probably been backshop his whole career. Also, F15s have numerous types of engines in their aircraft. The United States uses Pratt's only in their aircraft. What he didnt mention was the F15 is multinational.
@@BlurredUniverse357 I was considered to be in a "back-shop" AFSC the 6 years I did in the Air Force. Worked on C, D and E model F-15s. But we did flight line work as well. Still knew the F-15 was made by McDonnel-Douglas hehe. There was literally a nameplate near the missile well on the center fuselage saying where it was built if I recall. But I am also from St. Louis so I knew it growing up as well.
Decent video. This engine is a LOW bypass type of engine however, not a high bypass as he mentioned. A vast majority of the air is being used in the primary stream for primary combustion. -USAF Fighter Jet Maintenance Instructor
So the fan is a bypass fan, doesnt it qualify to being a Turbo Fan and not Turbojet engine ? Also, If that's the case, then the core must be tiny, if thats the size of the intake fan.
So many lies in this video. Pencil thru casing? High bypass? This reminds me of when I went to an ANG base and the engine mechs were saying all kinds of wrong and stupid shit.
No, the merger didn't happen until the late 1990s. McDonnell Douglas was independent until its civilian airline construction collapsed in the 1990s. It could not survive on government military contracts alone so that's when it merged with Boeing. This happened in 1997.
I was the Site Manager of the Contract Field Team at SJAFB NC from 2000-2012, Never thought I'd say it but miss working on them and the people I worked with over the years.
My fs 130 prob has 150 parts and need repairs . I bring it to you guys. Ña. McDonald built the f15 but beoing upgrade it through buyout. It a low ratio turbofan. High ratio is for cfm 56 and alike . It's intake, compression, combustion and extraction the 4 stages
The F-15 was originally built by McDonnell-Douglas.... not Boeing lol. Being Air Force you should probably know that Tech Sergeant...

It's also a Low bypass fan.
Also the F-15 was *expedited* because of the Foxbat, it was being made before it. But we both know neither of us are historians

How quickly people "forget" -or- are told to make sure they say "Boeing."

What's the point of a low bypass vs. a high bypass vs straight turbo jet?
Prince Noah high bypass engines are for torque, low speed, moves a lot of weight. Low bypass engines like the 220 in this video are built for speed.
@@prosin123 Hmm, but do any fighters these days use a straight turbojet without any bypass air?

@@Juppie902 it’s an augmented turbofan engine.

a pencil through the case......who let him talk?
I imagine he was being hyperbolic for effect
Boeing didn’t make the F-15. It was made by McDonnell Douglas.
Boeing actually bought McDonnell Douglas in the eighties

And 25 feet from the front and 200 from the back... and more than 2 million dollars :)
Ummmm pretty sure it’s a low by pass engine....

great to have an instructor teaching misinformation. we had NCOs that couldn't read Army 71-74
The name McDonnell Douglas is never to be uttered again; memo from Boeing.
Who gives a damn what Boeing says!!! They are a contractor for the USAF.
A cycle is one start up one shutdown. Jet Mech J-79-15 RF-4C

Glad i could i have a experience dealing with both 220 and 229 in military.it was fun.
Hi bro do you have any books about 229
When did they change the definition of a cycle, in the beginning God said a cycle was required a shut down
What type engine is this
