I really only have nori and wakame on a usual basis, and have hijiki at a few restaurants (aka not often lol). It's super easy to have with soups (especially if you have any dashi based soup, which you can make with wakame) and then put on grains/noodles (nori).
I love Dulse, when I was in EU I got them from Ireland but the same ones can be found in St-John, NB, google Manan Dulse, they are the very best, you can buy them in bulk but they will dry out though if waiting long to eat them, I use them as a dry spice then. When fresh and soft I eat them like chips, they are so addictive!!
You can get sea grapes from asian markets. They are like a seaweed stem with tons of teeny tiny pods that pop in your mouth. In case you wanted some crunch compared to regular seaweed.
Eating blueberries raw is definitely my go to. Or mixing frozen berries into my hot oatmeal and the berry juice comes out and sweetens the whole bowl of oats is AMAZING.
I love frozen blueberries in my smoothie. Thanks for letting me know that frozen blueberries are very good for us. I always thought that the dried blueberries were better. Thanks again ❤
About two years ago I began a daily diet of blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries everyday, mixed with almond milk & whey protein. Everyday, lots of fruit. Fruit corrects inflamation.
I have blueberries every morning in my green smoothie. Sometimes mixed black berries, blueberries, rasberries. Very high in antioxidants that fight free radicals in the body
i love Canadian people, i recently went to las Vegas and met some really great people who i wouldn’t mind seeing again who where from Canada, the hotel i love to stay in is a Canadian hotel called the D and im saying this to say i instantly started to listen more when you said Canada lol but also great tips thanks for the time and effort 👏🏾
So cool! I buy the Whole Foods frozen organic blueberries all the time, but yesterday I got some organic fresh blueberries. They had that frosty film! Since going vegan over 3 years ago, Buckwheat Blueberry pancakes along with Field roast Sausage has become an every other weekend tradition. I made this for my 20 year old daughter and 16 year old son this morning ( both not yet fully committed to veganism, but I keep trying!) and they LOVED this breakfast! You have no idea how much this warms my heart. My son just came back from a 4 day backpacking trip to Yosemite and because 2 out of the 8 kids were vegan, they all ate Vegan food the entire trip. So Leo came home and told me he thinks he's closer than ever to being fully committed to this lifestyle. Wow!! I'm so excited. I told him about you and your channel and my hope is that he will start following you as I think you would be a very positive influence on him or any teen looking to go in this direction.. Thanks so much for your videos!!! That salad looks amazing! I was thinking a little balsamic vinegar could be good with it as well... as a thought.
I tried to grow some blueberry bushes but they didn't survive in pit clay soil. I am glad you shared this video with me since I was wondering what I eat that wouldn't raise my blood sugar readings since I am now a diabetic. I am going to eat them again.
I love blueberries!!! My dog is a lover of blueberries as well. He loves them frozen and I keep a bag in the freezer for us (him) all the time! (Yes he’s insanely spoiled!)
Hey man, I am a big fan of your channel. Your videos are amazing and very informative. I wish we could work on a great one together or maybe learn a lot more from you
I eat blueberries every morning with my breakfast oatmeal concoction. I use frozen ones. I wish I had known earlier what I now know about whole-food plant-based eating - many years of standard western diet ended up with colon cancer and I am now a gutless bag lady for life. Still,, better late than never - I’m maintaining a really healthy weight and enjoying my food immensely, and also the adventure of learning a new method of cooking after so many years! My pantry has been transformed, and I expect my insides have, too. I love your “Amazing Foods” series - learning a lot, and getting really entertained along the way. Keep up the good work.
I love eating frozen blueberries! My great grandparents from Finland whom lived to 94 ate berries every night as an after dinner snack. They would pick them here in the us in summer and freeze and use all winter long! I just eat them too fast to remember to freeze them.
Love blueberries. Incredibly nutritious, subtly sweet rather than overpoweringly sweet, easy to digest, versatile as can be, easy for people of all ages to eat, a fruit native to North America so locally sourced much of the year. A diet of seeds, nuts, berries and vegetables helps ensure a long, healthy life.
That´s right and when you pick them straight from the forest you get some exercise too. Here in Finland we´ve clean nature to forage from. I´ve picked about 2 gallons so far. We´ve a "variant" of native blueberry without that bloom or white coating but it´s quite rare. I´m waiting for the middle of September to get some lingonberries to add to my morning porridge.
Derek I’ve been watching for a while now and have to say thank you to you. I am new to the plant based world and you are shining your light making things easier and exciting. You are a very good role model for the strength and ethics of a strong and capable modern man. I salute you 🙏
Derek I just wanna say I how much I've been enjoying your channel lately. You are a natural in front of the camera and you communicate your message superbly. UK based, I don't actually work out all too often but I do try and keep as fit and healthy as possible, and obviously saving the animals and planet at the same time 😊 you and hench are in my hard rotation of legendary vegan RUclipsrs, keep it up my dudes!
Those blue berries make your eyes pop lol. My kids love frozen blueberries as a snack.. I loved the info and learning new things about them so thanks! I would be interested in knowing more about how certain fruits/veggies effect diabetes. I have a harder time with my Type 1 diabetes when I eat a lot of fruit.....but I love it.
I like a bowl of cold blueberries, a small dish of some unsalted roasted nuts (walnuts, hazel nuts, almonds, pistachios), and a tall cold glass of plain kefir for breakfast. Refreshing.
Been waiting for this vdeo =) Thank you. Blueberries are the best. Here in Sweden alot of people go grazy now that it is blueberry season. One thing though, here in Scandinavia our blueberries are alot smaller and don't grow in clusters like the ones you showed. According to the internet the "bushes" are called sprigs and the berries are called Bilberries. Anyhow, I am like you I love blueberries! Going north soon and will be spending hours picking them.
Love blueberries and you and your vlog! I live in Finland and we have forests full of wild blueberries. Love those. I was maybe 15 years before i tried blueberries (non wild ones) and they seem like totally different berry, but I still love both! 🫐
I've been eating blueberries daily for about a year now. Freezing prolongs their life. They are sweet and refreshing. I am going to try them in my salad and make that incredible dressing recipe you shared with us. Thankyou!
Interesting new information as usual, thanks! I like blueberries on pancakes, I just made them during watching this video :) Only problem with blueberries is that they are quite expensive.
So glad you showed how to make a salad dressing from the blueberries. I've really been trying to searching for ways of making oil free salad dressing. This was perfect. And I love the info about the fresh and frozen blueberries and the bushes. My sister had breast cancer 2 years ago. The nutritionists want her to eat frozen wild blueberries.
Smoothie bowls are the gateway to good health and an amazing introduction to a higher level of whole plant based foods in the diet. Thank you for all the smoothie bowl videos.
Love your videos! They are helping me to become a better healthier vegan. I don’t know if you’ve done a video on Jackfruit yet but that would be interesting.
I had no idea Canada was known for blueberries. Almost all the frozen blueberries I buy where I live in the US are from Mexico or one of the South American countries. I love making smoothies with them. Thanks, great info.
Great videos! It would be cool if you did a video on seitan! I keep looking it up but never find too much information on it. Love the videos though! Keep up the good work!
Hi Derek! I love these videos. I’m about to hit my one year as vegan, and I started off by watching your videos. I appreciate your positive attitude and great energy! Pls keep making these, they’re so informative and fun :)
Heidelbeeren (German for Bilberries) - the European form of blueberries are in season here in Germany so I am having three spoonfuls in my porridge (oatmeal) in the morning with three spoonfuls of redcurrants too. I cook them in the oats in the microwave and have a banana on top so what started for me as regular porridge as become a fruit bowl with some oats now.
Sorry, been super busy. I'm the guy on Instagram who was saying "thank u, thank u, thank u". Finally got the chance to watch it, great job. I love this series which is y I asked u to start it back up again. My favorite way to have blueberries is with oatmeal for sure. Thank you again and my ideas for the future are mango, tahini, or any nut/seed. Much love, and I got my first package of PERFORM last week and used ur code. Ur the best bye 🙋♂️❤
Hi Derek I spouse in your film you explain about two kinds of berry. You have picture of blueberry end film from harvest Kamchatka berries. I love your film a lot suggestion to follow. Many thanks Pawel
Love this! I eat Bluberries everyday. Cannot handle the international kinds, though. Needs to be Swedish blueberries that have that dark colour through the whole berry. Curious to what kind that is. Love this series!
I put blueberries on my waffles. They fit perfectly in each waffle hole, so they cannot fall off like they do with pancakes.
I cook them into the pancakes. No rolling off. ;)
@@guitaristxcore Ooh yes!
Haha, yeah! 💞
@@guitaristxcore I put them in the pancakes and on the top! You get two different tastes/textures that way :)
@@Ben-fr8gi i think Ill try that next time.
Maybe a video on different sea vegetables, how to incorporate them into meals and their benefits
Hmm, I'll think about it. I don't eat too much variety, but I should eat more. We are on the coast too!
Yeah maybe like a video on seaweed’

Lemon in smoothies is a game changer 😋
Your eyes are the color of blueberries! I love all of your videos! Keep them coming!
I love frozen blueberries in my smoothie. Thanks for letting me know that frozen blueberries are very good for us. I always thought that the dried blueberries were better. Thanks again ❤
Wow! The blueberry bush is huge! I am used to small 20cm tall wild Norwegian blueberry bushes.
Just in case nobody told you today, I highly appreciate you Derek for dropping your knowledge on what we should be consuming 🙏🏽🌱❤️
Blueberries will always be MY FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD
They are so good!
I think you should do a video on mushrooms!! There are too many veggies out there. I just eat them all! Keep on keeping on!
Will do!
Yes! I love mushrooms! They are so versatile. I’ve never looked into their nutritional profile, so that would be a really interesting video!
About two years ago I began a daily diet of blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries everyday, mixed with almond milk & whey protein. Everyday, lots of fruit. Fruit corrects inflamation.
I LOVE BLUEBERRIES they’re my FAVORITE fruit
I just started eating them. It also helps with digestion. I love the blueberry banana pear apple smoothie

great video mate! loving this series!!
GREENS! Kale, Collard greens, parsley, green peppers, spinach, etc
Also potatoes and black beans.
Wow, I'm shocked by the thing about frozen blueberries, but that sure rings true. They are definitely less expensive when frozen too.
I like a bowl of cold blueberries, a small dish of some unsalted roasted nuts (walnuts, hazel nuts, almonds, pistachios), and a tall cold glass of plain kefir for breakfast. Refreshing.

Im voting for cilantro, Im obsessed :)

The healthiest guinea pigs around!

Maybe a nut butter dressing, but that's considerable calories.
I use blueberries a lot in pancakes!!
Great video. Blueberries are amazing! :-) My 3 favorite ways to eat them are smoothies, oatmeal and salads.

Frozen Aronia berries are the best ones. 😋

You really have an eye for detail, and I can tell that this takes a long time to get so clean. Well done, sir.
I just bought some Canadian blueberries myself! We love them in my family!
Videos are always so enjoyable. Can just tell you’re a genuine nice person.
Thanks! It's all an act ;)
Thank you so much Canada for your blueberries. I love blueberries and pretty much anything blue

Hi Derek! I love these videos. I’m about to hit my one year as vegan, and I started off by watching your videos. I appreciate your positive attitude and great energy! Pls keep making these, they’re so informative and fun :)
So informative derek for the win!
Look into Spirulina powder if you haven't already. Tons of micronutrients and lots of protein. I add 2 tablespoons to my smoothies.
Awesome video Derek! Watermelon or Pomelo would be interesting! :)
Cosco 3lb organic frozen blueberries $8
What an excellent idea for salad dressing!

You look fantastic.... that's what got me started on your videos... I've learned so much to stay healthy....Thank you!
He looks like he's quickly degenerating. If he doesn't stop soon it will end badly.
My son (3yo) loves blueberries, when we buy them he seeks out of bed at night and eats them all lol.
James aka me lol. Sounds cute.
James aka me that’s adorable 💕
Congratulations. Your son is addicted to sugar. He craves animal fat. He will hate you as he ages and learns what real nutrition is.

Quinoa can be a great topic for the next one!
