It can be a certain times of the year in certain areas. The Poudre has so much pocket water, it's slightly tricky to find good swing runs, but there are plenty of them to go around if you look hard enough. In the spring when the water comes up, but and it's more a "stained" color, it fishes fairly well with small swung streamers. In the upper river, when the drakes come off, it can swing pretty well with small thin mints and #10-12 soft hackles. I also like to fish chubbies on a floating tip so they hit the opposite bank with a splat, and skate smaller chubbies and caddis in the evenings for some fun "dry fly" type action.
Is the Poudre a good trout spey river? If so, I'll be spending a lot more time out that way!
