- Cruise news today. Royal Caribbean announced its sixth and final Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas, will be in Port Canaveral, Florida. Viking Cruises' ship, Viking Neptune, had over 100 guests come down with norovirus on a recent sailing. This is the 13th cruise ship in 2023 to have gastrointestinal issues while on a voyage. Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled many sailings in Alaska and down under to reposition a ship to Tawain. Cruise line stock prices for CCL, RCL, and NCLH.

Always enjoy cruise news Doug! I live down here in St Augustine but work in Jax. That is very awesome that Utopia of the Seas is coming to Port Canaveral. That explains why my 5-day Mariner of the Seas booking next April out of Port Canaveral was a lot less than I was expecting!
Nothing I've heard about NCL in the last year or so would make me want to book a cruise with them.

Cool news that Utopia will be in Port Canaveral. Still haven’t been on Wonder though, the prices on the new ships are so much higher due to demand I tend to wait at least a year before trying to get onboard.

Hi Doug. Regarding Noro virus, I think it would be interesting and informative to see the numbers of cases in places like hospitals, prisons and nursing homes so a fair comparison could be made.
Agree. Percentages are probably higher in those places on land. In addition, elderly passengers, some coming from retirement or nursing homes, likely bring it onboard from their facilities without knowing it. Then it spreads rapidly.
I was a nurse in the hospital setting for decades…..Sure hospitals have a higher percentage but my concern is that i am on vacation and i don’t want to be sick putting out a few thousand dollars😊
The reason cruise ships Norovirus numbers are required by the CDC as opposed to hospitals, offices, schools etc, is because it's a controlled environment. There's a set population of passengers and crew on a ship for a determined time period. There's no way to monitor the the numbers or the spread of the virus in those other scenarios.

It’s pretty tacky to cancel all these cruises to accommodate others. Don’t negate the community that made you. NCL will learn the hard way.
Mornin' Doug!! Norovirus making the rounds.... Gonna be wipes, extra hand sanitizer, and Imodium going along on our next cruise! Interesting deal with the NCL Spirit. I guess I knew cruising might look different post-coronavirus as the lines work to pay off all that debt, but capacity, higher cost, cruises with less service, lesser entertainment, and fewer perks, and then latching onto any opportunity to make a bigger buck isn't what I thought it might look like.
Hand sanitizer does not kill Noravirus so make sure you wash well!

1:26 Washy, washy indeed! It amazes me how many people I see that still cough in their hands. Weren’t we taught to cough in our elbow three years ago?!!! We need to stay vigilant with our sanitary protocols. Cruise lines need to keep the sanitizer dispensers out. Norovirus spreads so quickly. Once it hits the crew, it gets worse. They are motivated to work even if sick. For many crew, if they don’t work, they don’t get paid. They need the money to send home to family.
