I had a mishap with a table top on my 2nd Princess cruise. It broke my big toe. It was the last night of the cruise, they gave me a few stitches and that was that. I didn’t pay for the medical attention and I didn’t need anymore when I got home. I then booked a 3rd cruise a few years later and only realized when I was checking in that I had "jumped" a level that usually given after 50 cruises. No one told me, they didn’t try to sell me or anything. It was just done. Nice touch and a nice bump.
My very 1st cruise, was a 1982 on the actual Love Boat - the Pacific Princess! An unknown bonus to us, was they happened to be filming an ABC fall season promotion commercial, and they had all the stars of the Love Boat, and the daytime and nighttime ABC stars! I got to see Luke and Laura! ( Tony Geary and Genie Francis!)
1. Main Dining Room dinner menu usually posted outside the MDRs each morning; check it out to decide if you want that or the buffet or a specialty restaurant. 2. Once a cruise the Head Chef & Maitre'D give a cooking demo. Do not miss! 3. Ocean Medallion is great - when it works. But on our cruise it worked some days, only partially some days, and not at all on others. Nobody could explain why.
My husband and I are taking our first ever cruise in February 2023 on the Regal Princess. We have watched several of your videos and learned a great deal. Thank you.
Very nice high level Princess experience. I just want to add a few things so people are aware what Princess cruises is. They are a mass market Premium cruise line such as HAL or Celebrity. When you said about water parks, roller coasters, etc, those are the contemporary cruise lines such as Carnival, NCL and RCCL.
First addition is about the dress code. I have sailed with Princess over 116 times. Apart on the first and last day ( when you have packed), I don’t remember people wearing “clean jeans” in the main dining room. Just mentioning this so people don’t feel uncomfortable if they decide to wear jeans. As for dressed code, I remember a young gentleman who had a casual shirt and dress pants, wearing a tong/sandels who was not allowed in the dining room due to his foot wear.
Second, the Royal class ships all have Alfredo’s (Gigi on the Enchanted) that also have salad and pasta, however on some older ships ( Grand Class and/or Jewel class, Alfredo’s only has personal sized pizzas).
For alternative restaurants such as the Crown Grill and Sabatini you mentioned, on the Majestic, Sky and Enchanted there is also Le Mer (menu from E, Renaut, 3 Michelin stars) and on the Majestic, the Italian restaurant is replaced by Harmony ( fusion Chinese by the one Michelin star, Richard Chan from Vegas). There are also two ships that have Share ( by Curtis Stone). The Majestic had did not have a pizzeria on the lido deck, ( at least on the shake down cruise). I was suppose to be on it in 2020 when it was in Australia, but that got cancelled as well as 8 other of my cruises. Maybe they changed the Chinese soup /bowl concept to a pizzeria when it started to sail in Australia).
Third, all the pictures of rooms are from the pre Royal class ships. The newest Sky’s room is very contemporary and roomy. It is true the pre Royal class ships had larger rooms, including the suites. For example, the Celebrity Edge has more computer inputs, but the night stands are only 10 inches wide without drawers that all Princess ships have. You also omitted to mention the Sky suites on the Sky and Enchanted! Also on Princess, you get an ice bucket in your fridge refilled daily.
Forth, each Royal ship from the Regal also had a unique show produced by Danny Tieson. Fiera is on the Regal, the show for the Majestic only debuted in the naming Ceremony in Shanghai so did not see it, and the Sky has a modern version of Bravo ( Rock Opera), and a Jim Hanson puppet show.
How this helps those cruisers new to Princess.
Wow!! Thanks for all that info Fred!! Really appreciate it - on the jeans though, I have to say on our Princess cruises, we have worn jeans on non formal nights and some others were too. These were holiday or close to holiday sailings with a wide age range so perhaps this influenced it

Lots of nice details. Thanks. One very large inaccuracy though. Clean jeans are definitely worn on princess ships. Just off four this year and saw it every single night except formal. Not just a few people but quite a few.

Recently booked on the Grand Princess 12 day Alaska cruise. This will be our 3rd Princess trip. Really do like this company. Our early affordable years of cruising were on Carival and they were not bad until our last experience that totally turned us off going on their ships again. Thanx for the tips.

The food it top notch especially Alfredo’s and The Crown Grill. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. If you have an issue, you just have to talk with your room steward for assistance. Embarking on the Grand Princess for a 29 day South Pacific cruise, ending in Sydney. Then the Blue Mountains for 4 days and home(groan, long flights) Looking forward to the peace and quiet of sea days. Princess is a great line for mature people desiring a traditional experience.
I just read your Alfredo's blog. I too love Pizza Margherita; and Caprese Salad. Informative blog. I liked your tips for Princess. My wife and I like Princess; We have done RCL and NCL and got tired of the theme parks onboard.

Very, very helpful. We have friends we love to cruise with, but paths just never seem to intersect. They booked a transatlantic for April '23, and we love transatlantics. On a lark, I looked at prices, itineraries, and stops. Sold! The joy of retirement, no pets, and the kids are both in jail for life terms. We have been married to Azamara, spectacular line, tiny ships, great service, people and food, so coming down to a mega aircraft carrier boat is a bit unnerving. So far I really haven't heard anything significantly negative from you or your co-vlogers in regards to Princess. And your final tip about their matching prices on shore excursions was great. Thank you!

It would be great if you mentioned The Sanctuary area of the ship. We discovered you need to go there the first day, first thing to reserve a space if you want to use it. Spaces fill up quickly. Especially if you are cruising the Panama Canal. What a VIEW from that area of the ship while traveling the locks! Great job on the overview of Princess...well done.

Love your videos . I find them very informative and you cover so many things that I needed to know . I will be cruising with Sky Princess in February / 24 for the 1st time .
My wife and I sailed on a ten day cruise on the Island Princess in November 2019. The food was excellent! We chose traditional dining and we are glad we did. We had the pleasure of meeting and dining with four very nice people. We took our agents advice and dined at Sabatini's. We enjoyed the romantic atmosphere and the food. Would highly recommend eating there at least one night during your cruise. We found out that you can preorder case(s) of soda and water before you board. This was cheaper than purchasing it individually or buying a case after departure. These were already in our room when we arrived. We also booked all of our excursions through Princess and glad we did. The ships motto is "if the tour is late the ship will wait" and sure enough on one of the port visits a tour group was over an hour late returning to the ship and we did not get underway until they were onboard. This will not be the case if you book through a private tour company! Also, we pre-booked our spa days to save money and we bought the travel insurance (highly recommended!) We have scheduled our next cruise on the Enchanted Princess in early 2022. We can't wait!

Sailing with Princess for our third or fourth time in March for a ten day Panama Canal trip. Your tips and insight are great. Princess plus is a great bargain for us considering the length of the cruise and the free gratuities included with the Wi-Fi drink package. A real bargain. Hopefully the medallion kinks will have been smoothed out.

Wife and I, will be heading to Alaska on the Discovery ship. 2 months later heading to Transatlantic for a 26 day on the Enchanted ship. We only travel with Princess, always had great experience with them.
Hi, you asked about our next cruise books.... God willing we are going on the Enchanted Princess starting Jan. 29th. to Feb. 18th. and March 16 2022 circumnavigate Australia. Thanks for the tips. Later on in the year we will have to keep an eye on the Australian cruise requirements. If we need to quarantine in Sydney before the cruise, that would be a show stopper for us. Enjoy.

I've only been on one cruise and it was Princess. I was about 12 so it was over 30 years ago now. I can't remember which ship but I STILL remember the baked Alaska! And this little plate of tiny muffins filled with chocolate mousse (or maybe a chocolate hazelnut mix idk it was magical) stacked daintily in a pool of chocolate sauce. 🥲😂 Oh and there was a little pizza place but it didn't look fancy like Alfredo's on the vid. I remember feeling like a kid in Willie Wonka's factory because we didn't have to pay! I still think of those little muffins though... they haunt my dreams they were so good! lol

I’m taking a cruise march 4. My first with princess. Years ago my daughter and I went and we were lucky enough to enjoy the extravagant midnight buffet that is no longer offered on cruise ships. They even dedicated an entire hour to viewing before anyone could eat it
Thanks for your informative video! I’ve been watching your videos which also has been very helpful to improve my future experiences. This one is the one I’ve been looking for! We’re wondering how to make the best out of the princess cruise that we’re booked on for February 2023 because we’re gonna go with my parents. Especially since will be less activities compared to Carnaval (just came back last week). But I have to transition to know that I need to relax (like you said) which the princess will allow me to do so because I’ve never done so in my past cruises. I am typically stressed, excited, but with lack of sleep running around trying to eat everything, attend every activity, event and show in Carnival (and other cruises) because I don’t wanna miss out. Lol

Don’t forget to visit the Sanctuary. It’s worth the $40 for a whole day or $20 for half of the day. It’s especially worth it if you don’t have a room with a balcony.

We did the same cruise on the Regal a couple of years ago except we sailed from Copenhagen. If available, highly recommend the train excursion to Berlin and spending the day touring the city.

Booked on the Coral Princess 2/21 - 3/14, 2022, 14 days in New Zealand and then 7 days in Queensland. I have taken 21 cruises and all of them with Princess even though I can get great deals on Royal Caribbean cruises through my niece who works for them. As an Elite Captain’s Circle Member with Princess it is difficult to sail on another cruise line because of all the amazing perks my Elite status awards me. Princess’s moto is “come back new,” but for me it is “welcome home.”
That’s a great way of looking at it. I do find Princess’ loyalty program to be one of the very best as well!

Alfredos is where I go for dinner on embarcation day. There’s always a line-up for MDR and many people haven’t learned that Alfredos is complimentary.

I am subscribed and already hit the like button. The Piazza on the Princess ships are really nice. Can relax on a Princess Cruise. They don't have hairy chest contests, or hairy leg contests. Never wear jeans to the dining room. Princess has good tasting food. Alredo's is really good. It is even open for dinner. I do eat at Alfredos on the first day on the ship. Some ships have another name for it though. Not a pool person. The shows are either a hit or miss. The staterooms are nice. Had no problem with my clothes. The Medallions are good. Princess is a really good line to go with. Wish they would go to Bermuda.
Good news!! It's been announced that 2021 Princess cruises to Alaska out of Seattle will begin again at the end of June, 2021 on the last Sunday of the month! The PVSA requirement to dock in Canada during the cruise has been suspended by Congress so that the Canadian ban on cruise lines being allowed to land in a Canadian port will not be any problem this year. It's going to be great to be back at the pier again!! Hope we'll see you all there!

@@arthablakiston8085 We had a great experience, nice ship with great food and drinks except for the buffet, I found the food (breakfast) wasn’t warm enough for me, we had lunch in the various restaurants around the ship, pizza was delicious, gelato was excellent. The shows were great and the staff was very helpful. I’m ready to start shopping for our next holiday.
We’ve taken Princess to Alaska a couple times and Hawaii. Looking to do British Isles and/or Greece.

Apologies if mentioned elsewhere in the comments....in addition to the evening 'movies under the stars' they usually have movies / concert videos etc on the big screen during the day...this means that if there are two main pools mid ship one will be a bit 'noisier' during the day while the other's generally quieter.

The travel agent thing is true with extra credit. I just booked a cruise for a princess hawaii trip. On princess site the deal with some free packages and 50 on board credit but, when I went through my travel agent that we been working with in the past she got us another 50 dollar credit some how with her wonderful magic working so we have 100 dollars each since there is 2 of us that is 200 dollars in on board credit!
We will be on the Sky Princess November 20-27. Our 1st cruise celebrating our 50th anniversary. I’m VERY EXCITED but I’m handicapped and worried about what I’ll be able to do.

I am booked on the Coral Princess to Alaska in September of 2022. This is my FORTH attempt. Booked in 2019 and the hurricane in the Caribbean left me without a flight for 3 days. Princess first told me that my insurnace did not cover flight issues. After a couple of months of bitching both by myself and my travel agent, Princess gave me a 75% credit. After rebooking for 2020, we all know what happened there. Booked again for 2021 and Canada closed all their ports. So we will see if 2022 is a go!
