The final defense would be the 2nd Amendment - we have more privately owned firearms than any other country by overwhelming statistics. Any occupation of US land would be.... difficult.
The main problem is logistics. America is too isolated--in the end, any potential invasion has to content with the fact that most nations just can't get here.
Not only are Americans well armed but our country's geography makes it one of the hardest continents to conquer too. You've got multiple mountain ranges to figure out how to navigate. You have several major rivers to cross. The geography of America makes several choke points that could be easily defended with little resources and manpower. Granted the fact that America has the most amount of resources and even though we have a disadvantage in man power the kill to death ration of Americans vs the world would be crazy... probably 10 or even 20 to 1 in favor of my screaming bald eagle brothers.

So many citizens in the us as well as foreign troop loss, plus innocent collateral, would cripple the world by sheer loss of life. The death toll would encroach 1 billion. The vast majority of all military tech is first developed by public research at Universities. Most military development is finding a way to develop the science in to an actual engineered and useful piece of technology. Meaning most military tech is a secret in how to apply such technology effectively and in a mass manufacturable way rather than being technology that is beyond what civilians know about. There are no secret wonder weapons that the military doesn't talk about. Think of it like Lithium-Ion batteries, they were researched a developed in the 1970s but it took till 2010 to see 50% market penetration. The military equivalent would be if they had developed suitably advanced Li-Ion batteries in say the 1990s (they hadn't its a thought experiment) The tech is still completely known it would have been that the civilian market couldn't replicate it due to lack of funding or intrest.
@@nocare I agree mostly, but the military has tech that the public sector is not privy to. The U.S., and I’am sure most 1st world countries, have R&D teams who are developing military tech exclusively for the military. Especially when it comes to aircraft. No point in using a “RailGun” on a 3rd world country. Smaller items like Duct-Tape and NightVision were made exclusively for the military under contract, but then was later released to the public as a common use item. Another good example would be the Internet. It was created specifically for military use, and then later released to the public. The point I am making is we 100% have “Secret Wonder Weapons” that nobody knows about, and We won’t know about them until they have something better. P.S. not saying a functional “RailGun” exist. @@diminuendo61 Yes I think they are wrong. We have tech way above other countries available to us this is true. However the F22 was public knowledge the same year as its first flight. Even if it wasn't how all the tech in the F22 works is public knowledge. We know how its engines and missiles work, we know how its stealth works. We know how its radar and how the fire control works. Not to a level where its reproducible by anyone; the point of millions-billions in development is the little details. The big details are already known though. Thus if the public sector does not know the big details of a piece of tech, such as how to make energy storage for high power lasers compact. I don't believe the military has such technology figure out either. Saying the ydo have such tech is like saying the military has solved problems in physics and engineering so far beyond the public that the best Ph.Ds in the world would have trouble understanding it on first viewing.
I thought so as well but the more I looked into it the more I realized the US military...specifically the air force..has been dominating and utilizing space for awhile. They just finally made it public by making it another service branch.
not just that a lot of tech advances happen because they receive MIlitary funding now another branch will receive more money to use and grant out to advance tech that is related to space. Improvements to Aircraft and power generation(Nuclear Fusion) and other things like that.
Thing is, the Air Force was already serving as the unofficial “Space Force.” They have their own space program. My problem with the Space Force creation is that no amount of the Air Force’s budget and resources would be reallocated to the new branch, none of the military branches budgets are. The Space Force would have to be paid for at full price at the expense of the taxpayers.
The reason there has been relative peace and stability in the world since the end of WW2 and the Cold War is that the US is the dominant force on the planet. If it were instead a nation that didn't value freedom above all else, like say Russia or China, things would be very different. I'm not saying America is the only country that would put the world's interests first, there are others, or even that the US is perfect, of course we're not. But this should be a reminder for some of the other world leaders that criticism of America's military industrial complex is short-sighted. I'm not saying we deserve thanks....but we do deserve a lack of condescending judgment suggesting our warrior nature makes us backwards or primitive. Simpson there's another factor. IF they are successful in their mainland attack, what then? With 22 million troops and 150 million+ armed citizens, who would be left? The point of winning a war is taking the spoils of war. An engagement on US soil would be mutually assured destruction. So many citizens in the us as well as foreign troop loss, plus innocent collateral, would cripple the world by sheer loss of life. The death toll would encroach 1 billion. this isnt even including all the crazy tech they have that they dont talk about. Thats for every country
The military equivalent would be if they had developed suitably advanced Li-Ion batteries in say the 1990s (they hadn't its a thought experiment)
The tech is still completely known it would have been that the civilian market couldn't replicate it due to lack of funding or intrest.
@@nocare I agree mostly, but the military has tech that the public sector is not privy to. The U.S., and I’am sure most 1st world countries, have R&D teams who are developing military tech exclusively for the military. Especially when it comes to aircraft. I agree that most of the stuff is public sector and then gains military application, but we do have “Secret Weapons”. We just don’t currently have a need for them.
I was just using the concept as an example.

@@nocare I mean hey are they wrong to think that? The F22 raptor is nearly 30 years old yet STILL dominates the skies.

The reason there has been relative peace and stability in the world since the end of WW2 and the Cold War is that the US is the dominant force on the planet. My guess is that America doesn’t release anything to the public about their military until they’re two generations ahead realistically and some odd months after they achieved it. Even to their own people.
Yep. One good example is GPS. The GPS network we use today was launched by the US Military in the 70s. The public gained access when they replaced it with something better.
Bruh, knowing a few vets and guys still in...this is for sure. And you are probably still underestimating em.
Hey man if the public knows then the world knows, and that’s not a chance they’re willing to take
Not just gps. But the internet as a whole was created for the use of our military way before it was released to the public. Hell each new standard that comes out is tested and run through our military before it gets to the people.
My grandpa worked on top secret projects for the military like the SR-71 Blackbird and he said that our satellites could read the label of a cigarette pack back in the 60-70s

@jake jones I mean we may trust and want our allies to do well. But I don’t think we trust allied soldiers to know how to use our equipment to best best of its abilities. Especially conscripts now matter the training.
If that were the case, we wouldn't have had so many of our own systems hijacked by insurgencies from the governments we gave them to, and used against us. There is a reason why we plant set charges on helicopters that go down. We have to blow them up manually to keep people from taking and studying them. @@luisr109888 ok buddy
@@luisr109888 I thought they did a pretty good job of explaining why exactly the rest of the world wouldn't be "fighting back". By attacking global infrastructure they essentially hamper the worlds ability to go on the offensive essentially forcing them to dedicate nearly all their resources on logistics and defensive warfare. You have to keep in mind that even though the entire world is against the US does not mean you can treat it like one giant homogenous country. Different languages, levels of technology/military systems, and even past rivalries would be a constant obstacles. Meanwhile the US would only have itself to rely on thus would not be hampered by those same monumental communication and planning issues. Keep in mind communication and dissemination of information is almost as important as the physical military assets.
Though I will say these thought experiments are just that. War is chaos and people don't always follow a logical cause and effect. I wouldn't be surprised if a contingent of countries ignored the domestic or potentially devastating economic issues and just grabbed their asscheeks and went straight for DC attempting to essentially cut the head off the snake.
@@luisr109888 logistic is the simple answer to why. The ocean are the biggest problem with this scenario. If the us was accessible by land from a major power the us would lose how long it would take idk. No military on earth right now can rival the us navy and as long as that the case the us mainland is not easy to invade. The forces on the americas would be a token forces mostly excluding canada and mexico but they can't beat the us. Moving troops is basically why the us budget is ridicules. It cost money and infrastructure to do.
@@luisr109888 They even stated why in the video. Most of the worlds powers have trouble exerting force outside of their own borders. In the video, u.s. forces stayed away from those areas and attacked more strategic targets. Its not that they dont want to, they probably would not be able to. Taking out the worlds oil supply is basically cutting out all of those forces. I think you also forget, most european powers would rely on the U.S. for anykind of offensive outside their borders because of our massive transport fleet.
If you avoid fighting in europe and china, then blockade major shipping lanes and take out global oil supplies, then ya it probably could be done.

The idea of nuclear weapons these days is really just insane and it's a waste of money. Almost every nation has some sort of missile protection system that will blow up missiles long before they ever arrived. Pretty much the only case scenario is if all nations launched all of their nukes at once and those systems blew them up, there would be some residual nuclear fallout but it would be pretty minimal.
The US would still win in the end, with people more spread out than most countries.
Which means sure the central government would be gone and the military in chaos, but not the majority of the people of the country.

We’ve had setbacks, although not as great as the Europeans in this particular instance. But none of this changes the vast difference in age and how rapidly the USA developed even prior to WW2.
The thing to keep in mind is that Europe and Asia have seen their big empires come and go, along with their massive armies. Decolonization led to multiple small countries with only a few notable militaries left standing. You could think of it as America still being in its big empire phase of history, much akin to how the Roman Empire was so dominant during its existence.
You need to take the tech advancements of the last 100 years into account. Europe had its day. Also a successful country is not just about politics its about the ethics and social culture of the populace. New countries have the cream of many nations.
Most people, including the makers of this video, forget the experience the US enjoys. It's hard to quantify the advantage that generations of successive warfighters give a nation, but it's real. See the old empires in their prime, Rome, Britain, Spain. They all fielded entire armies and navies manned by 3rd, 4th, 5th + generation soldiers, sailers, and leadership.
