    Vladimir Putin said it best.
"The United States is best left alone"
He was asked if Russia could fight off a United States military invasion.
His response was simply "For how long?"
He went on to say " The United States fought Afghanistan for nearly 20 years and it nearly bankrupted the Soviet Union, not only Afghanistan but Iraq as well"
He further elaborated that. "You have to ask yourself one question"
"What could the United States gain from such an operation ,that they don't already have or can't get?"
Interesting response from a supposed enemy of America.

@@randolphcirilo4800 ok. First i searched for such interview of putin and didn't found anything remotely close and i am also sceptical of putin ever saying that because Putin's whole play is showing his people that he is a powerful person who doesn't fear anything. Second its incredibly hard to invade Russia because of its size and terrain and russia would win against any invader even by playing defensive. (This is much more detailed and complex matter which cannot be completed in brief). Plus If you have link of such interview then i would love to see it and i will admit that i am wrong about the interview thing.

The US does have an empire, just not one in a classical sense. We don't directly rule over other countries, sure, but the rest of the world is completely incapable of ignoring anything we do. Media, entertainment, values, all the things that makes us American is globally emulated or despised. "Westernization" is a real thing, and the North Star of it is the United States. The US doesn't need to launch a global offensive and take the world by force, all we need to do is simply look like the best bet, and the world will follow.
The United States ironically doesn't like war. Sure, some elements in the framework do, for various reasons, but war is bad business. If the goal is to conquer all, wouldn't the easiest way be to simply convince people that our way is better?
Destroying a persons country with violence, or enticing them to convert to our ideals, the end result is the same. A lot fewer bodies though. Such a task requires an image of invulnerability to pull off though...

This is completely an academic (fictional) scenario because of nuclear weapons. It would never play out this way. Many countries like Israel, Pakistan, and even North Korea know that they do not have the capability to fight a large force, or take the war to their opponent far across the seas. There capabilities are strictly defensive. Their survival strategy has long been developing nuclear weapons as a deterrent.
He is correct in that the US alone (with is huge naval transport fleet) has the ability to transport (and protect) massive amounts of troops and equipment to anywhere in the world that they are needed. And because the US is so far away from the other major powers like China, India and Europe any attempts to bring large numbers of ships (troops and equipment) toward the US would be spotted and attacked long before reaching our shores.
I served in the US Navy for 6 years and can attest to its extremely high levels of operational readiness. After all, we have been the most active military around the globe for over 50 years. Especially the NAVY. The Navy spends billions practicing and preparing for every scenario that we are likely to face. And this is unlikely scenario that can be dreamed of. The US without Britain?? Never!! Rest easy Bees. 👍👍👍

For Fiscal Year 2020 the Department of Defense's budget authority is approximately $721.5 billion ($721,531,000,000).The 2020 defense bill provided $738 billion for the military.
That included $146 billion for a broad laundry list of military hardware, to include $1.87 billion for 98 F-35 aircraft and eight F-15EX aircraft to recapitalize the F-15C/D fleet.

And another deployment. A seal team had to do emergency refuel. Once again the CO got on the 1MC and told absolutely everyone to go to their berthings. Or at least stay far away from the hangar bay. In any conflict there are elements that essential to maintain or destroy in the case of the enemy.
    1. Fuel
    2. Logistics
    3. Information
    4. Morale
    5. Production
    6. Experience/ Training/ Tactics
    7. Leadership
If you can maintain these elements, and deny them to your enemy, regardless of the size of the conflict, you will win. Weapons are simply one tool, among many used, to achieve your goals and maintain your essential elements.

Some people think that the US is trying to force its way into needless wars but I don't feel that way. Invading the U.S. is also usually considered impossible just based on the guns owned by civilians per capita. We have over 120 guns per 100 people which far surpasses every other country by at least double. So everyone here is effectively armed. Now, it's not exactly true, because some own none, and some own many. But if invasion were to ever occur, it could be assumed that people would be distributing weapons to friends and family or allies that could aid in repelling. And if our tyrannical government would actually abide by our constitution, many of us would have even more weapons and weapons they have deemed "illegal". And they continue to try to restrict gun ownership. It never works out well for them, as soon as they threaten more restrictions, gun sales soar until it's hard to find what you want. And forget getting .22 long rifle ammo during that time.

ICBM's and nuke subs would launch more and faster than any number of intercept missiles could catch.
The result would be the surviving nations/population to survive whatever the fallout/radiation would be in targeted areas.
If we even could do that depending on how lethal new weapons capabilities are.
Then the question of contaminated food and water sources available to survivors.
Any true and blue nucleur warfare attack would be the end of what we call civilization.

Stop fighting each other and stand together as one get rid of this party system and vote for the person not the party they stand for. I vote for American interests not a party! @Red of the Man two sides of the same coin man. Doesn't matter what side lands up, the coin is still worth the same, and the value is not worth shit. Republicans have moved so far from what they are supposed to be they are unrecognizable. Democrats are the same as the Republicans in being unrecognizable. The two party system is nothing but a con game. Depending on your beliefs you vote for whichever party even if you don't like the candidate. The lesser of two evils mentality. The two parties have a strangle hold on elections making anyone else running irrelevant. The illusion of choice is just that, an illusion. It's all carefully orchestrated so the ruling class remains intact. Some of us want better choices than the same old shit with a different face that we have now.

I'm fully behind forcing term limits with my vote, and I definitely research them looking for fresh new people that haven't had time yet to make politics a career. So no I'm not an uniformed blind voter. I also don't bury my head in the sand and blindly follow a party line. And both parties are so far beyond trash it isn't even funny. If you don't like my analogy I don't really care, because both parties have screwed up enough they should be permanently banned.

There have only been 3,507 awarded 618 being awarded posthumously. The video is taken by drone and records the entire event. What the video captures is a type of bravery that few can say they have and even fewer have ever seen. I hope you can find the time to react to this video. In answer to your comment around 23:00 about 30 being maybe short, maybe long as far as a war goes, it's both. 30 days is FOREVER when you're trying to defend a position. When taking a fortified position, 30 days is decently fast. Not amazingly fast, but workable.
As far as how it would work out, I'm firmly of the opinion that depending on the size of the country, the military spending of said country, and the research and development of weapons programs there, it's likely that any modern nation is hiding between 10 and 50% of its true military strength, so it's hard to guess for certain. As others brought up, though, these numbers are all the current (for the video's timeframe) militaries. In an actual wartime, the numbers would significantly shift upwards as drafts and conscriptions increased in the rest of the world. The US however has a significant amount of troops available for recall, as well as a large percentage of the population being familiar with the use of firearms. This video mentioned the Air Force, the Navy, and in limited amounts the Army and the Coast Guard. There's also the Marines, the National Guard, and the Reserves of various branches to consider. In the end though, he's right in that the Naval capabilities are really what would clinch a victory. The US doesn't own all the land by any means, but if we want to we pretty much CAN own the water, at least for a significant amount of time. It's definitely a tossup on some fronts, for instance the population factor. If it really came down to throwing numbers at each other, there's a LOT more people in China and India than the US, but how does population stack up against weapons availability/training, and tech gaps? Can you kill a tank by throwing enough people at it? This video is likely correct in a broad overview, but there's a large amount of nuance that isn't mentioned.
    Sorry for the novel.
