If I do eat in a fast food place, I'll always get a small because we get free refills. If I'm at a fast food place, right before I leave I'll fill my cup with soda and leave with it to take it home.

For instance, in most pizzarias/restaurants found around the greater NYC area, a "large" typically starts at 20".

How do you pick up a large slice? You take the hand holding the crust, and push down the middle to form the crust edge into a V (or fold all the way flat together, if need be). This provides structural integrity to the bottom of the slice, allowing it to stand out farther from the crust toward the point. If the point is still too floppy to guide into your mouth, take the other hand and hold up the tip until you can bite down on it.

About the drink sizes, in the US those cups are filled to within a half inch from the top with ice before the drink is poured in. You can ask for light or no ice but most people here prefer their drinks ice cold. I've heard it's different in the UK.

    • @ronclark9724

Well there are areas in the USA Today where there are temperatures in the 70's F. There is probably no where in the UK today where there are temperatures in the 60's F. Above 21 C and below 15 C...

  • @bradarmstrong7467

This is not really a fair comparison. In the us the drink cups are filled literally to the top with large pieces of ice if you see what the actual soda volume is it’s about 1/3 the volume of the cup, so not sure if it’s the same in UK but if not, that’s the reason for the disparity. Also on more than a few items said to be us portions it’s just not accurate. Fries at kfc for example, never have I seen the “large” fries as this video claims also I have never gotten anything like the volume of chicken they say the US gets, they couldn’t get the lid on it. I call BS on most of this.

Exactly! That video is intentionally deceptive in order to make Americans look bad. Nobody orders the amount of food that they do. I have never seen those portions available on the menu. I also love how the US guy makes those over-the-top noises as if it's such a struggle to carry over his drinks. Making Americans look like gluttons seems to be the shtick over at "Food Wars."

Domino’s probably had to add the 16” XLarge in USA because there are a ton of local pizza shops (at least on East Coast) where there may only be two sizes (small & large) and 99% of time - large is 16”. Felt robbed the first time I ordered a Domino’s large to discover it was only 14” lol.

I worked at Starbucks here in the US for about 5 years. Baristas are supposed to leave a little room in the (hot) cup for two reasons. 1) The customer can add more ingredients to their drinks. Like adding sugar and cream to a brewed coffee. 2) For safety. Americanos are about 200 degrees (F), and unless otherwise specified, drinks that have milk in them, like lattes, mochas, etc, the barista steams the milk until it reaches 150 degrees (F). Hope this answers your question!

trust me, the 16in pizza slices from a dominos pizza really arent that large. you go to a good pizza place in new york (or boston which is where im near, the place im thinking of has slices that come close to the size of your face.) you can get some large slices of pizza. mostly cause pizza isnt always something you order an entire pizza, some times you just want a slice or 2 for a quick meal and dont need a whole pizza.

    • @waycoolscootaloo

No, not really. Because in the US you can simply say "easy on the ice" or no ice. But then again possibly just so you can hold a bit more ice as an option. Plus in the US we get free refills. In the UK you have to buy it over and over again.

My oldest son's favorite is a hand tossed philly steak, pineapple, and jalapenos. When I was younger, I used to work at Domino's pizza. Our large back then was 16", then it changed to 14".
