- Today we are finally burying the Culvert bunker in my back yard! At the end of the day we should have the backyard bunker underground, with sod back on top, and the giant 12ft dimeter culvert pipe hidden completely underground!

They guys you hired to do the earthwork knew what they were doing. So often on RUclips people dig unsafe holes and backfill incorrectly. Refreshing to see people with the right equipment and skills doing the job!
I agree completely!
Just want to add to this, exactly the type of comment I looked for. Impressive work
Nah, all you need is a safety tie and a lot of moxie. /s
Yep, being adjacent to the construction industry, it is nice to see them backfilling in compacted lifts and making sure the soil is moist. I’d be curious to see if Jerry had any proctor tests done on the material to confirm optimal moisture content during compaction
prolly cuz he actually paid for contractors that know what they're doing and follow proper safety protocol. lol So many people go cheap and get what they pay for.
I’ve worked in civil construction my entire career. I’m impressed by how well you explained what was going on.
Rajmistri 😅
How cool I work for the company that provided this pipe! I actually loaded your pipe on the the blue truck in your video. Very cool to see the progress on this project! Good luck with the bunker!
If they want to show how the pipe is made, send me an email! I’d love to show off the process.
@@JerryRigEverything yeah we want to see that.
@@JerryRigEverythingwe for sure want to see that
Just the man I need to talk to. Don't you offer a coupling for these pipes so they didn't need to fabricate a flange? How do installers normally connect these pipes?

The more this project continues, the more cool stuff I learn about.
Agreed. that sacrificial anode.. I have never heard of it.
@@nandakishore99499 I think they use something similar in boats and ships.
Have never heard it being used under ground though.
I learn about more like stupidity and ego of people try downplay Jerry, it's sad they talk about thing like precaution thinking he is a fricking a idiot and didn't do his research
Like you can see in older videos of the series and say: you should be having sacr anode it would like in days and full comments in denial of him not considering that or like when his tube got welded that the rust would not stainless orwatertight anymore but afterward he made another video using the sealer
It is very sad
There is more like 5 more things I don't remember but he just keep shutting the hell up on anyone, it's funny
Loh the ventilation system too he shut them down
I’m too claustrophobic just watching this. If it collapses, you’re buried alive.
I appreciate all the angles and mounts on the machinery!
No kidding, the perspective change is cool and creative.
The amount of thought that goes into building a bunker is so crazy I wouldn’t have thought it was such a process keep up the good work everyone!
Can we just appreciate that Jerry is building what alot of kids probably dreamt of in their childhood, and spending thousands of dollars in the process and giving it to us for free? Truly a legend
Thousands? More like hundreds of thousands if not millions. That's a compound he lives on with all new buildings. It's disgusting, pre covid all these channels are humble, great full for where they are and taking their subscribers along for the ride. Post covid it's non stop "look how great my life is" and everyone lives in mansions
@@TechTokOffical Would you rather them just stop posting and existing on the internet? They're taking everyone along for the ride and that ride is their life. Right around 9:45 would have been the perfect time to install the lines for a ground source heat pump loop for your home or bunker...

Absolutely LOVING this series!! Cannot wait until all the episodes are out and we see your finished (un)mobile home!!!
I waited to watch these first 6 videos in a row. What a great series. I'm in it for the rest and def give little dude at the end a raise!
How would you do the plumbing for the bathroom??
This series deserves to be on discovery or history channel 🙌🏻🙌🏻
You can pump it up to the house's existings infrastructure
composting toilets perhaps
You can use the elevator shaft to pump in and out. And electrical, oxygen etc.
Buckets? This ain't a hotel dude you're doing it in a bucket 🪣
Septic tank under the floor and piping to pump it from the elevator shaft. You can see the floor level of the bunker from the side rails and everything under them is prime space for stuff like wiring, plumbing, storage, water and septic tanks and there's surprisingly lot of space considering the floor will be around 2-3' from the bottom of the pipe.

The level of thought and detail put into this project is truly commendable. The way the processes were explained made it easy for anyone to understand.
Even though I'll never see the bunker in person, i'm super interested in watching how it comes together. Literally glued to my monitor whenever a new part of this series drops. Such a cool project, thanks for sharing it with us Jerry.
NOT literally.
That drone hitting the tree was hilarious! Thanks for including it in the final upload!
Good job on the compacting! I am a civil engineer and work on building water retaining dikes and we work with clay. Compacting clay is an art of its own and you did well with your soils!. Seeing the effort you spent on compacting and not dismissing it does me good! You'll enjoy the result , youve got no worries about the ground settling over the years!!! Someone gave you good advice!
Been watching for years. This is my favorite project you have done. Thank you for this. Cant wait to see more.
Hi Jerry, I used to work in a thermal power plant earlier and we used a large number of sacrificial anodes when our underground cold water pipelines for Cooling towers were replaced. Seeing a miniature version of the same here in this video helped me recall a lot of nice memories. You are the best!
This is going so fast!
I'm looking forward to learning how the interior is utilized.
Did you measure the height of the tube to see if it floated at all during the burying process? Or did you measure the roundness of the tube to see if it distorted?
This is such an awesome series, plus you're keeping everything transparent, difficulty and costs, as I feel i speak for most guys out there, doing this is their dream lol
This is by far my favourite series on RUclips, I have interest in this kind of out of the box projects and through this one I've leaned a lot.
I started watching this series two days ago. It’s awesome!
Thank you!
This is one of my favorite series to watch. Amazing work for sure!
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
I assume by the time this video came out, youre much further along and as you have mentioned already... but ventilation, ventilation, ventilation.
also, love this series.
Have you watched the missile silo restoration from GT Titan Ranch? (formerly Death Wears Bunny Slippers) Super fun stuff
Yeah he's, worried about it corroding from the outside in. Condensation if he doesn't get the ventilation right will corrode it fast enough inside out.
@@itarry4corrosion? How about poisoning from radon and other gases
I'm being dead serious here, Do you really think he planned out an entire bunker for multiple years just to forget the ventilation?
As a dad I truly love you showing the dad mind and encouraging instead of chastising the kiddo! That 3 second interaction inside of your group, and including it, that’s so how it’s supposed to always be. Encouraging for all! positive, wholesome, and exemplary!! A Life lesson I will remember and cherish. Thank you for including that very personal and intimate bit! It was Better than the bunker, which btw, is friggin awesome!
thank you Zack for this entertaining and informative project. so cool.
The bunker is so stealthy! Love it! Can’t wait to see its final form!
here's a small thought, add some concrete to the very bottom of the corrugated tube so you get a tiny flat section so that if (when) water ever does get in, it can drain to where you put the sump pump, and doesn't make little puddles in ever rib of the corrugated pipe.
But it is very sandy soil which means the water should percolate further down and they never have those puddles. If you put concrete down you will. Those drain tubes are there just in case they actually get enough rain soaking into the ground that it can not percolate fast enough. Something that probably will not happen very often.
That's outside, I mean inside the steel tube, like rain water getting in the hatch, or condensation on the walls. That's not going to magically move outside the tube and into the sand.@@oldtimefarmboy617
The concrete would also act as a counter weight similar to the concrete in a barge. Reducing the risk of the bunker rising
Too late! 😂
They are talking about inside of the bunker I believe@@PaynE_PaynE @oldtimefarmboy617
Its goin great man 😀

I'm finding the whole thing quite dry compared to the far superior Colin Furze bunker series.
Solid content. That was an amazing process. I did not see the preparation work for the bathroom. I will have to go through the previous episodes. I enjoy the science explained in your commentary.
Wow! This project is so cool. And WILD! I'm definitely fascinated by bunkers. I look forward to the upcoming videos.
That rock slinger is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. Looks like fun
This project is sooooo cool! I’m happy to see the yard back together, NO MORE VISIBLE TUBES
This seems great, fantastic. Burying a piece of metal, I like that. Construction today can be easy for them, but for starters it's all new. Beginners first, how to cut metal. I love watching work here, so cool

this project has been awesome to follow
Nice. I think you should get a Geiger counter out and see how radioactive your project is (hopefully not) as Utah seems to have a lot of Uranium in the ground.
Agreed; I live down in Lehi and our basement has had major radon issues.
I'm so hyped for this project! Please never stop posting 🎉
Totally cool series, can't wait to see the inside build.
An idea for storage is that when you lay the floor down flat you will still have space left under it from the curve of the pipe and you can make floor-cabinets or something along those lines.
I think he already said in a previous video that he will do that
That volume will partly be needed for sewage tanks - can't pump it away when the outside sewage system stopped working because of the apocalypse.
@@wilfriedklaebe That makes sense but I think there still should be some space left over just from telling how big it is, but I am no bunker expert so.
@@ydvw of course, that's why I wrote "partly" 😉
Bruh he already said that in another video shut up already lol

Can we get more of the Camera Guy at the end please? The camera work, the narration, it's spectacular
This is so wild , I wonder what are the advantages/disadvantages to this construction method vs building a concrete structure
my guess is that it's cheaper, I think he mentioned that in the video where they got the pipes
Looks like Jerry is preparing for something big to happen. Good prepping 😊
Great job ! love construction ! of all and any kind ! great stuff Jerry!
In the other video, you needed to reapply a coat of paint to any exposed metal during welding to prevent it from corroding. You and your team applied it while the pipe was underground but I am curious, what about the underside of the piping? How do you know that none of the metal there got exposed during welding?
Yeah man
well the lowest welding point was the floor which is pretty high up, so thats why in my opinion
I would like to thank the photographer at this time. He did an exceptional job that no one had done before him😅👌 13:59
Hi Jerry,,
Its so interesting to see you doing different kind of projects.
This series from you is something I didn't know I needed.
Great Job and as someone who studies Electrical engineering it's amazing how you explain the physics behind it.
I'm a little confused, is there a reason why you didn't build a temporary flooring/storage system inside the bunker?
You could have stored alot of the heavy/bulky materials, before you sealed the bunker.
Now your going to have to lower them all down, unless you have a secret up your sleeve^
He mentions it in the series: to fill the hole up before snow falls
Amazing to see the amount of skill and knowlage these guys have.
So excited to see how this all turns out!
This is the most American home project I've ever seen

Something tells me I'll be watching a video of Zack unburying the Zinc bar in 10 years from now...
Hello me from 10 years that has come back to this video from Zack's most recent video... How u doin ? Better or worse than what we thought?
I bet the sacrificial zinc bar isn't sacrificed much after a decade, maybe due to the insulation and coating on the bunker pipe.
Always got a real great project, Jerry. I hope I can visit your place when I go to US.
Love watching your videos, any and all of them. Thank you.

I have a question. What information, about your future, drove you to undertake a backyard bunker?
It’s all about what information you don’t have! By the time you need a bunker, it’s too late. 😂
Looking forward to see what utilities and plumbing is going under the floor

Why didn’t you put all the stuff (flooring, furniture, rooms, etc..) inside the tubes before you buried it? I’m not critiquing, just curious.
That conveyer belt truck is AWESOME !!!
jarry I feel so old rn. its amazing to see her grow this much.
Your yard has been naturally compacted since they built you house. Chances are when they build your house/neighborhood, they had to dig down quite deep to put propper soil in and re-compact each layer. There is compacting requirements and soil type requirements when building structures, and alot of neightborhoods you see getting built, they dig out a giant pit 30+ feet deep and re-compact the entire neighborhood and soil and adding in all utilities. They do this all at once because its more cost effective to get giant earth movers in and do it all at once, rather then a lot by lot bases, bring equipment in and out and in and out constant... this is why after all the earth moving is done and signed off, they hit the ground running and every lot is perfect levels for building onto.
So I bet this was all dug up when they built your house back in the day.
