      Considering the 3080 10GB was $699 when launched (until GPU mining got hold of it), I would expect no greater than $850 which allows a significant bump for inflation. We are all being conned by these companies coming in really high and then dropping the price to seem cheaper, so yep even $999 feels off to me for the so called value model in the high end.

    Crystal Ball suggests that 4070 Ti Super and 4080 Super will have VERY limited availability, and with Chinese New Year coming up I wouldn't expect much availability on them until Q2 (April).
    (Assuming the rumored prices are right) Nvidia will do rebates to retailers to try and clear old inventory in the channel; so expect the 4070 Ti to drop $100-$150 and the 4080 to be going for $999. Maybe with a good game bundle.
    AMD will have to react, so expect 7900 XTX prices to drift to $899-$949 and 7900 XT prices to be at around $699-$749

    A card operating above the 7600 level has to be on the Navi 32 die, and AMD already has two GPUs on Navi 32. Further, a 7600XT would struggle to perform at a level at which 16GB of VRAM would ever be needed, much like the 4060Ti 16GB. And it would hurt sales of the 7700XT. It makes more sense that Navi 32 would be used for a 7700 non-XT and that a 7600XT would have 10 or 12GB of VRAM and be a binned and OC'd Navi 33.

    • @x8jason8x
      @x8jason8x 9 месяцев назад +1

      People keep making this assumption based on nVidia's failure on 128 bit bus, but AMD generally isn't having that issue. I agree it won't saturate the full 16gb in most cases, but it'll certainly do better than the 4060 does with 16, being that it can't seem to fully saturate 8 to begin with, and when it does, it's pegged lol. Tech power up seems to confirm the 7600xt will indeed be 16gb @ 128-bit.
      The 7600 is kind of disappointing. The entire 40 series is a joke, minus the 90, which you have to be vigiliant with, so it doesn't burn. What a mess.

    I've had a 1070 for way too long. It served me well at 60FPS gaming up until now, it upset me playing on medium settings and it made me even more upset when certain games maxed me at 40 FPS at 1080p medium settings. So i thought it was best to finally upgrade but the bad reception of the 4070 put me off so i waited a bit. Glad i did because the 4070S is defiantly the upgrade i've been waiting for, no more medium settings. Maximum settings 60 FPS at 4k with Ray tracing. Very happy with the purchases so far. Looking for something thats about double the performance and at least double the VRAM (3060Ti) so ive been eyeing the PowerColor 7900 XT Hellhound for $749 at micro center. If the 4070 Ti Super can compete with the 7900 XT both performance wise and price wise, that might be what I get. I kinda care about NVENC as I do stream occasionally but its not a big deal if I can use AV1 encoding to stream on YT with AMD.

    • @x8jason8x
      @x8jason8x 9 месяцев назад +1

      HEVC is smaller, more efficient, but AV1 is better in general for devices being able to read it. I don't think it makes a huge difference which you use unless you're streaming max bitrates to more than like 3 platforms, you'd basically want a 4090 rig at that point anyway, and maybe a separate one to play on lol... If you're just streaming to YT, you're fine with AMD. Live streams tend to be more CPU intensive than GPU intensive, so a high core count CPU might be a better investment for a streamer, if you didn't already have one.

      You'd be better off just buying an AMD card if it's for gaming. nVidia has flat out told gamers they don't care about them anymore, and they shouldn't expect price drops, they are going to get progressively worse pricewise for the foreseeable future. AMD does the major console chips anyway, so you're better off in general with optimization in most cases, with AMD. Happy Birthday.

    The guy who leaked this on Twitter has a point about "hidden" price cuts - meaning this seems to be a quite significant price drop all across the higher end of the line-up - without Nvidia calling it a price drop. 1000 bucks for the 4080(S) seems much more reasonable and in line with GPU prices of old. Personally, I consider the 4080 the "true" top of the line card anyway because the 4090 is just so insanely priced and the 4080 is a pretty powerful card in its own right. In any case: I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks *this* is what the line-up (and prices) should've looked like at the initial launch. I'm very seriously considering an upgrade if those specs and prices prove correct. The only drawback for me is that my existing 4070 will now take a drop in 2nd hand price so I'll be getting a little less money back when I sell it on to make room for either the 4070 S or 4070 Ti S.

      I dunno... AMD seems to have little trouble with lower bandwidth saturating the VRAM, that seems strictly limited to nVidia in my experience. Anecdotal as that is, it's definitely been repeated quite frequently by others. It's really not that surprising if you think about it, leather man's cards have basically become rushed basement projects that really only exemplify the software. You don't see AMD with 3 and 4 slot GPUs that catch fire (yes, they still are doing that lol)... just saying. All these people cooing about how power consumption matters unless they have an air fryer 4090 (no shot at pros that actually use them for what they are)... it's like pick a side lol.

The gaming market revenue could have been triple what it is now if they had actually decided to release GPUs with proper hardware upgrades at reasonable prices. They are making the most money from their data centre business currently, but it just makes no sense for them to throw away their gaming business like that. Gaming is still their second largest business, and it's cyclical, meaning it can bounce back when the problems it's currently facing hopefully ease off. Nvidia's gaming business currently has a revenue of $9 billion, which is less than the $12.5 billion from last year due to an oversupply of GPUs and GPU sales plummeting. $9 billion is still a ridiculous amount. It can get much more than that if they start taking gaming seriously again. It's not as much as their data centre business, but it's still a lot. It makes absolutely no sense for them to just ditch the gaming market when it's this big, despite it not being as profitable as their AI business. That's the point that people seem to miss. No returns or regrets yet, especially when they find out their build is coming in way cheaper than they'd initially thought.
      The real problems will arise as Jensen further distances himself from gamers, and studios begin to shy away from worrying about optimizing for them. "build a new computer with a 4090 solves a lot of problems. I have no idea why you would assume I wasn't using my current GPU to learn SD. I was just lamenting the design flaw of the 4060ti 16GB."
      As I see it, the only GPU I named here is the 3090/ti, which has no problem with full saturation and is still a fantastic GPU for most ML stuff, including SD... and will play just fine with PCIE 3... but it also wasn't the point. SD likes a lot of VRAM... and you can get a 3090 for about 600-700. Still... the point of upgrading the motherboard isn't even PCIE 4, it's just having a faster motherboard, so you can actually use a PCIE 4 GPU. That hopefully isn't a 4060ti. Which I'd never suggest anyone buy for anything.

      @@x8jason8x Used GPU prices have gone up since last you checked. Low on a 3090 is now $850. I appreciate the response. I think we agree the gimped PCIEx8 GPUs - most commonly sought by people on PCIE 3.0 - are a bad deal. I'm learning a lot with the 2060, and there are still good GPU upgrade options for a PCIE 3.0 system. The main reason I wouldn't recommend upgrading the mobo to people with my system specs is that there is so much untapped potential in what I already have. A used 3060 12GB is probably a better step before a total rebuild, which in the case of the 3090 would also require a PSU upgrade. So a 3090 upgrade would be putting nearly $1,000 into a B450 system, which I think you'd agree would be money better stashed for the next build, cheers.

    People all excited for 7600 xt 16gb. Me: I'd rather get the intel arc 770 16gb. Its still there at a competitive price. Oh wait. Its out of stock. Never mind.

    I could've gotten the 7900 XTX for $800 but decided against it. 1) I don't need the performance and 2) the power requirements for that card is pretty insane and 3) I still don't trust the drivers for the 7000 series. I've heard way too many bad things. Oh and 4) I need to be financially responsible 😅

    Im skipping these. I want more vram and want faster than a 4090 and dp 2.1 and better power connector.

    only 4070 ti Super worth its crazy 22% up and also Vram for future 12 is enough for next 2 years,but 16 for longer period!4080 is not huge boost!

      If you cut those 22% in half, then you are closer to reality. With 4Gb more VRAM and at the same pricepoint as the way overpriced 4070Ti.

    My 7800XT is returnable until 1/29. I have one of the $500 models. Not sure if this 4070 super at $600 will be worth the switch or not. I’m currently leaning towards no, it won’t be.
    However, if reviews show that it really performs at 4070 TI levels for $600….I might be swayed. We shall see.

      Lol... they aren't going to kneecap their own cards, and they certainly won't be lowering the prices on anything. Expect them to be the same as the OG cards MSRP or higher. Jensen already has said repeatedly that he's done with gamers, the prices will reflect that.

      Bro it won't be on the exact same level as the 4070ti, a overclocked 7800xt is not far off the 4070ti for performance. If you gonna upgrade might as well see what the 4070ti super is looking like.

    Nvidia does more with less vram, amd uses way more in the same situation.
    It uses less, so this 4070 stuff is pretty darn great. Yeah expensive

      LOL! That's all nonsense, as assets and VRAM intensity vary from game to game, and most games favor AMD in optimization, being that they're the chip in Xbox and PS.
      nVidia has to pay to get their name directly on games now, minus the pitiful handful that brag on utilizing RT... which the majority of gamers don't care about anyway. lol

      AMD tends you use a little more VRAM then Nvidia. But Nvidia tend to use exatly the same amount more system RAM. What do you think hurts performance the most?

      what are you talking about? It looks like you believe AMD is running PCIe4.0 and Nvidia running PCIe5.0. But the only 5.0 Nvidia is running, is PCI 5.0, and that is the 12VHPWR connector. They all run on PCIe4.0 lanes
