  • If your airbag light is on, horn and steering wheel buttons may not be working, you may have a bad clock spring. We had the dealer confirm it, but that comes with a cost. This video will walk you through replacement of the clock spring, which is a pretty simple procedure.

    • @FearlessMods
      @FearlessMods  3 года назад

      Kimmo, if you look at 9:12, you can see on the lower right of the screen where the clock spring assembly mates with the module and prevents you from being able to pull it straight off. At 12:45, you see the plastic part that hangs off the right side of the clock spring that I'm talking about. At 13:24 you can see how the module and that plastic piece mate up during assembly.

    Please use the right tools for the job so that the next person that has to remove the steering wheel doesn't have to contend with a buggard bolt. Use a good 12mm triple square not a crappy allen. The right tools for the job keep people from messing their cars up.

      Abdulbaki Aybakan we just didn’t have the means to reset it. At 21:24 I say that we had to hook up to Vag-Com. Now we have an iCarly that I think will also work on the airbag light.

    • @FearlessMods
      @FearlessMods  6 лет назад +1

      Imran ahmed on the Mk V GTI, we didn't need the module. Only the clock spring was defective. However, the module has to be removed because it screws onto the clock spring and also has electrical connections with the clock spring.

    My 2006 jetta does not have the steering wheel electronic control buttons you have. It is the base model. Do you know if there is anything dofferent when doing the clock spring replacement on the standard/base type steering wheel? Thanks for the great video.

    • @FearlessMods
      @FearlessMods  6 лет назад

      rtj49, I'm not 100%, but would assume that since it still has the airbag, it would need to have a similar clock spring. The horn by itself wouldn't require it, but I think the airbag connections would.

    Great video. Nice camera work to show the clips. Question though, how would I clear the airbag light (or other dash lights) if I don’t have access to a vag-com? Can I rent one from parts store or must I go to dealer or mechanic?

    • @FearlessMods
      @FearlessMods  6 лет назад

      Thanks @Jason C. The airbag light is absolutely a problem. I've not found a way to clear it other than vag-com or the dealer. I don't think your typical Autozone or Advance will clear those for you.

    • @sheennshine7
      @sheennshine7 5 лет назад

      You shouldn't need to clear an airbag light if you disconnected the negative off the battery before removing the airbag itself..

      I took the steering wheel off and just turned the clock spring and it would honk randomly again.
