    Since I have switched to Carnivore and eliminated 99% of plants from my diet, I have been able to manage my ketosis much much easier. No need to read labels or worry, just meat eggs and (limited) dairy.
    Side benefit: my acne rosacea has cleared up, which I'm so happy about. It led to so much pain and discomfort and even affected my vision (dry eyes which led to cornea scarring).

    I've lived nearly all of my life in Wisconsin--the dairy state (it's on our license plates), the top cheese producing state in the U.S. so cheese is a big deal here. Me weight has been stable of 8 months now (those last 10 pounds) but I don't obsess about it. I did discover chaffles early on in my keto journey (usually with almond flour and cheese) as a keto friendly bread substitute. Maybe I'll try carnivore to see what happens.

    In many products there are also emulsifiers (basically "surfactant/soap"") to assist keeping a stable oil- water emulsion. Some of these appear to be able to strip the mucousal layer from the intestines and hence contribute to digestive issues and inflammation.

    One week in to eating mostly carnivor with the exception of hot sauce, pepper, mustard, and a salad with Italian dressing. I work at KFC so I will usually eat the chicken there after taking the breading off. Problem is it is fried in Canola oil. :/. My main reason eating this way is to reduce inflammation. If I want to have just one bite of something "bad" or sugary (think, I bite of birthday cake), is there a best time of day or timing before, during or between meals? Thanks Kait!

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  4 года назад +4

      Here's the thing, I don't think having something "bad" once in a while is the end of the world. I might have a slice of cake at someone's birthday here and there. Our bodies are made to deal with stressors (ex. bad food) acutely. It's when we get into a habit of having them too regularly it becomes a problem...
      That said, in terms of ketosis a bite of cake probably will not matter. There are a lot of factors that could potentially make a difference in the time of day, but if you're having a piece of cake you probably won't be able to control the time it is served.
      I think it is best to not overthink these things. Keep the big picture in mind. If you stuck to your diet for 7 days straight and then have 1 piece of cake on a Sunday afternoon, your progress will not be derailed.

      I don't think carbs are "bad" full stop. They do have a place, specifically for athletes but that is not 99% of the population and no, our bodies do not need them 🙂
      I was actually reading a study yesterday that was exploring the effectiveness of different diets for weight loss. The conclusion was that any diet that limits our food choices (keto, carnivore, paleo, vegan) works significantly better than diets that focus on portion sizes and moderation. The study found that people's idea of what "moderation" is for a certain food, is always more than what they consumed. People also tend to have a higher idea of what "moderation" is for their fav foods.
      Moral of the story is that moderation does not work.
