Berberine really helped me. I was slightly insulin resistant and my blood sugar dropped from 109 to 91 in 8 months, lowest its been in like 10 years. Love your channel.
Hi Kait! I’m not counting calories this time. I sent you a comment a few weeks ago about how your videos have helped me considerably. I’m 69 yr old male and I am following your plan very closely. The goal is to bring my insulin resistance down to within spec. I only eat twice a day and cut out the carbs. I lost 35 lbs which was really a bi product of working on my insulin resistance. I’m 5’10” and weigh 160lbs now and I feel great. I’ll get more labs early in October so I’ll let you know how that turns out! I’m excited! Thanks Kait! You are helping me so much. P.S. I work out as well , 30 minutes cardio almost everyday, planning to get bicycle when it cools off! Bye, Calvin ❤
My doctors have told me for years to eat less and move more had me on 1200 per day since age 17, with little or no weightloss. In my 30's still very much overweight again, same advice from a new doctor except she slashed my calories to 500 per day 😮. Now in my mid fifties and fatter than ever, I was diagnosed with insulin resistance. I'm trying all I can to absorb as much info as possible and implement lifestyle changes. It's a long road ahead, but I need to stick to it.
Very enjoyable, love the list at the end. I'm doing 6 of the 8. No higher carb meals so no ACV. I'm currently in bad shape with sore joints in legs so walking after every meal is not happening yet. I'm working towards 10,000 steps a day, currently 8500 is a PB. Avg. 5000.
I've been low-carb for several years. I lost some weight and then gained some back. I've always been fairly active. Recently, I realized I was snacking on low-carb foods WAY too often. I reduced that and lost some weight. I need to focus on sleep now. It's so easy to just veg-out past bedtime, but I'm getting better. 🙂
I struggle with feeling more hunger when I’m eating low carb, so I find myself snacking more. I gain weight even in low carb if I don’t count calories. Otherwise, I overeat high fat foods
Personally, I've never known anyone who cut calories and lost weight for good. I tried it myself many times. Your videos show a much more consistent method for long term success. Thank you for all the work you do in putting these together. You've helped me greatly and I'm sure many others have benefited as well. Thanks, Kait!
My mother counted calories every day and looked beautiful. She had amazing self control. As for myself and my siblings we all struggle with weight. And we are all T2D.
I haven’t been on RUclips much in weeks. Husband had open heart surgery. I love your videos!! And I totally love love your hair!!! I did Keto for a year, I lost 65 pounds. Then medical issues, moving, my sister moving close, keto stopped but still ate better, but cheated too much and not much movement with medical issues. Most of my weight is back. I need to try something more sustainable. I’m exhausted all the time for years, even on Keto. I’m 70 now and need help. After caregiving for my husband I can’t get what energy I had back. Do you have any suggestions? Or specific videos of your to watch? Thanks if you have the time. 😊
This is fantastic! I've known most of this for a while and can say you do an amazing job of explaining how this works and why it's not about calories. Thank you! 🙏
@@HealthCoachKait I wanted to ask you if it’s acceptable during intermittent fasting to have iced coffee with whipping cream in the morning during my fast? (It has zero carbs and zero sugar.) what are your thoughts?
Very informative. Truly a battle. Unable to loose enough weight to naturally keep BS down. My goal is to get rid of the meds. Side note, you look amazing.
Undereating doesn't work. Every time you hit a plateau you need to eat less again. Then fast longer and longer. I like the idea of cycling feasting and famine, cut and gain. But slowly so you don't gain weight. But cutting quickly so your body goes into a deficit. But you aren't starving. 1800- 2000 calories seems right. 1200 to 1500 is ridiculous. If I don't track I undereat and then I don't sleep. Plateau and basically get stuck gaining. I'm doing all the things you suggested but am still gaining because I was doing OMAD and it really messed up my metabolism. Now I feel like I can't lose again.

I heard some information from a utube video that since I have body fat and am considered obese, that I should eat more lean protein. Does this mean to lower my fat intake or eliminate it all together. Just confirming. Thank you love you and your content.
I don't recommend lean protein. If you have IR and do not eat enough fat with your protein, your body will convert some to glucose and your blood sugar will rise.
Did you watch the video? The whole point is if you focus on other factors besides calories weight loss will occur 🩷 Don’t actively try to restrict. Focus on the tips mentioned at the end 🙂
Great advice and great channel. You can't exercise your way out of a bad diet - I learned the hard way - cut all sugar and refined carbs - dropped weight, blood pressure etc. and generally feel much better.
You're kidding, right? OMG! I've been on the carnivore diet for only 1 month without ANY exercise or expenditure of energy and I've already lost 12 pounds without even trying. AND I get tasty cuts of meat and some nice cheese. I couldn't be happier!
Calorie counting def did not work and made me have an ED for years (trigger ⚠️) i dont like it. Recently i went to a functional medicine doctor and learned my root causes. I’ve eliminated certain foods. i wasnt having enough sodium and i was diagnosed with pcos and insulin resistance I now have drastically changed it. I have higher protein now and its amazing
Thank you so much for this video. Been struggling to stick with keto after my second child seemed to super charge my insulin resistance. Getting bloodwork done soon, then I've decided to try carnivore once I've eaten up the remaining non carnivore foods in my fridge. Your videos help me stay hopeful that i can get my health back and lose the remaining baby weight.
I’m doing all these things currently and it’s helping. I sleep better and I’ve been intermittent fasting the last 3 months. I never knew I was insulin resistant until I was diagnosed with non alcoholic liver disease, which was a complete game changer for my lifestyle. It took some adjusting but even a plant based person can be low carb 💚
I feel like having a tracking device of some sort is helpful to most people to help them aim for certain goal. It sucks that they are not that accurate tho. Made me feel like what’s the point of even trying to get more steps in or exercise so much. It was motivating me now I’m not as motivated knowing this. 😩
I lost 5 stone over 2 years by one meal a day of between 2 and 2.5 thousand calories which includes chocolate, butter or olive oil. I eat at lunch time and nothing else until the next day. This means my morning workout of 20-45 mins is in a fasted state which makes it dramatically more effective. It's much as we evolved to eat, no snackable food just one large meal after the exertion of hunting. Obviously no sugared drinks are allowed outside the meal but I avoid them anyway because they are terrible for you. Give it a go you will see results even if you do not restrict what you eat, just when. Good luck.
Any approach that requires constant discipline to succeed consistently is an inherently unsustainable approach for most people. I'm still trying to explain this to certain people I know who are struggling with unsustainable approaches and achieving yo-yo results
This was very informative thank you. I always feel better on a low carb diet. I have low blood pressure and a low heart rate though? Is that possible to have with insulin resistance?

Hey! Hi! First, we need to stop usin the word "weight," and say "lose fat." We're not looking to lose muscle, right? The eat less/exercise more doesn't work because eating less junk is still eating junk. What works is changing your diet to healthier food and getting off the addictive junk food. Yes, it's that simple. Take it easy.
I just did my very first 72 hr fast. And I’m eating during a 8 hr window daily. Carnivore, zero oxalate, low carb. I lost 4 pounds the first week. I eat scrambled eggs with sausage, bacon or hame with cheese. Second meal is a large portion of salmon, steak or chicken with a small portion of vegetable. Snack is more cheese. So far, so good. I’m doing this for Crohn’s disease, but I also need to lose weight (BMI 30) and build insulin resistance. I was a constant snacker because I thought keeping food in my GI would help me. I ate a ton of high oxalate foods because many of them are super foods. This made me very sick. Pottenger’s Human RUclips channel set me on the right path. Check him out if you’re a nerd that appreciates a deep dive into physiology and biochemistry.
Just subbed a few weeks ago.. your videos are very informative. I have a question tho, if your body is used to keto with little to low carbs for sometime, what will happen if you go on a high carb diet? Will the body still process the carbs without issue? Or cause insulin resistance?
When your insulin sensitivity is improved you will be able to tolerate and metabolise carbs better 🙂 However, if you go back to eating the diet that got you insulin resistant in the first place then it will creep back.
Calorie counting… did it work for you?
Short term, for sure

Counting calories does not work long term And you end up hungry all the time.
Thank you for an informative video Kait. Do you recommend an even longer IF time of 20-22 hours, or stay at a 16-18 hour IF???

2.How do u realistically stick to low carb for life?
I’ve been doing all the things you mentioned to try and nothing worked for me. I quit the ACV after a year without any success. 😢
Great video!
Ja Apple cider Gummi is the only thing i can do
Hey!

Excellent summary!
Thank you, Kate!

Breakfast high in protein and fat, but how about lower protein, higher fat and carb breakfast like a raw yogurt with some frozen berries?
Protein is key
Just subbed a few weeks ago.. your videos are very informative. I have a question tho, if your body is used to keto with little to low carbs for sometime, what will happen if you go on a high carb diet? Will the body still process the carbs without issue? Or cause insulin resistance?
When your insulin sensitivity is improved you will be able to tolerate and metabolise carbs better 🙂 However, if you go back to eating the diet that got you insulin resistant in the first place then it will creep back.
can you add Apple Cider Vinger with Electrolytes mix (or smoothies) and still receive the same benefits?
Yes
What about sweetening the ACV with stevia/monk fruit ?
That’s fine!
I have insulin resistance ❤
This is great advice

What is your diet now like ?
Low carb, whole foods. I target 30g~ of carbs around anaerobic workouts (resistance training) and competition 🙂
Hi Kait=)
