i just ran a 1998 honda accord (i have A POV on my channel, took to tire shots, the bumprt hit my tire instead of fender and broke upper balljoint and tired leaned over, besdies that it did pretty good, remove rear bumper, push spare tire in, loop rad and tranny lines and put a better bumper on
removing rear bumper actually isnt needed. that tin bumper holds the rails together symmetrically, and pulls them up and allows it to pack in. Next time you run one, leave the bumper and i think youll like the results a little better.
@@skylarrush4184 well all the Honda’s I’ve ran I’ve removed the rear bumper and pushed the spare tire up, they fold in perfectly. My first ever derby csr was a 1991 Honda Accord left the rear bumper on, it flew off in 2 hit and my rear went down
Motor should handle the heat well, make sure you keep a eye on the transmission fluid because the 6th generation are infamous for burning the transmissions. I own a 98 myself and it's currently on it's 3rd transmission.
Personally I try to stay away from these honda's. Between the ball joints/spindle issues and also wiring issues they just don't seem to hold up very well. I also think that the back end of these honda's are pretty soft. Anyway best of luck to susan though, hopefully it will hold up.
@@skylarrush4184 Not the engine compartment. Wiring under the dash seems to be an issue(main relay's I believe). Zack's Workshop ran one of these and it had wiring issues. In a bone stock demolition derby sometimes one is not allowed to move or alter wiring. I am not saying the wiring issues cannot be solved, but you may not be able to do much with the wiring in certain situations.
Can you make a good video about how to tighten 9 wire? There's no good videos on how to properly 9 wire a vehicle for derby. Also where can you buy large spools?
I think there a decent car for gut and go but not something id run I’m a lumina and grand am kinda guy plus I prefer limited weld and I seen one of these get tore up in a limited weld team show recently
So glad to see you try a honda
I swear by them . I run Acuras to.
They good but u need to keep a eye 👁 on it for brake tied roads power steering and issue with auto trans etc 😅👍
Seatbelt the spdiles to sturts and upper ball joint to spdiles to in a x shape
See you July 3rd!
One of the best street stock 4 cylinder derby cars
Honda got top 5 at bash for cash this year and mad dog
I’m running a 1995 Honda Accord I heard they hold up good
I'm seeing a few them Hondas survive through a couple derbies they do make good Figure 8 cars

@@chrisf7731 wow interesting. i leave all my rear bumpers on, jack the spare tires up, and they fold in like crown vics.
Susan's right there not bad for gut n go car.

Should have just sold the car after the first transmission blew up.

Better race car

what wiring? Hondas can eliminate almost all of the wiring from the engine compartment.

If you try run a jumper wire on the main fuse underneath the hood and do away with the alternator your golden. I have 4 that I’m building now
Build right they are really tough, good front end, sa to see the Camry go
Awwww I want to see you run the lumina
Never expected a Honda

Yes good idea. Most farm supply stores sell 9 gauge wire. Sometimes fencing wire is the name.
Nice clean car! :-)
Talk to Cody (1goose) he can help ya
Zacks workshop builds them.
The upper ball joint are bad on the Honda’s too

There were a good bit of them at Bash for Cash and they were tearing stuff up
Do your rules allow the gas tank to remain in stock position? I ask because you have to drop the entire subframe to remove the tank
Yes we can run stock tank or mount a tank inside
WHAT?! A HONDA!? But the spindles! Lol
Up spindals break easily with stock bushings on the top
I thought it would be a Civic, but an Accord is close enough, right? Still interesting to see!
All I know is there’s a relay under the dash that everyone got wires cause they go bad
I also say Hyundai’s are better
