Thank you for this video. Im about to refurbish my headphones. Sorry if its a bit of a dumb one but what do you need the silicone for? Where should I apply it? And also is there any specific type of silicone to use?
HI ! the silicone holds the battery in place. It's Selleys Silicone for glass. I just squeezed a small amount under the battery. Not too much but enough to hold it in place. Thanks for your reply.

If anyone else needs it, you can replace the SP70A with an Olympus Li-90B (or third party, I chose Patona). It's fully compatible in this case. I couldn't find a replacement locally and went this route prepared to make modifications if needed, but the pins and size are 100% compatible.
I have no idea whether its suitable. Current and Voltage? I guess it will either work or it could damage the headphones. Hey if it works then let me know. 🤔

It depends on the battery. If the battery is fresh then its better than older batteries but generally Sony genuine battery chemistry is better than third party batteries. Keep that in mind. I kept my old Sony 100ABN because I prefer the audio quality, also I prefer the build quality of the 100ABN, the comfort, the tightness (they stay on my head because the band is stronger. I love the style of the 100ABN which I much prefer over the latest XM5 and the XM4. On the subject of the XM5 just be aware that the drivers are 30mm whereas the drivers on the XM4 are 40mm. The weakness of the ABN 100 (40mm drivers) is the battery didnt last as long as the latter models. They have a annoying crunchy sound sometimes if you squeeze them. The latter models had superior battery longevity. I dont like all the superfluous nonsense on the latter models. Also being hooked into Android I don't find appealing if you know what I mean. If you can get good fresh after market batteries then it might be worth considering. How long you'll get out of the 3rd party battery would be difficult to determine. How old are the batteries? The good batteries have a code which will tell you how old they are it's essentially a date stamp. Also how often and at what duration do you listen to music? How loud? It's something you must try for yourself I guess. If you dont know the condition and they're too expensive then I might just get the XM4 on special. Anyway I hope that helps you decide whichever way you decide to go. 🙂
Looking at the date stamp on my old replacement batteries is 20171705 which I assume means 17/05/2017. The release date of the Sony 100ABN was 23 May 2016.
@@decem_unosquattro9538 TQ! I appreciate your asap lengthy reply !!yes i think i can find new original replacement battery for this model here however the price is almost triple the cost for secondhand 100abn ..
My charging port is fine. See if you can find another video showing how its done on other Sony headphones. I think its repairable just need caution, and care. Depends on if you can get another port and or the parts you would need. Might be some soldering involved. I would try it if I had that problem.
I don't know. The voltage would need to be right. Also height and width. It might be worth looking into new batteries of the same size and voltage. That's pretty much the issue now. Getting good quality South Korean or Japanese batteries. 🤔

I'm in Australia buddy ! You've googled it and can't find batteries? That surprises me because the U.S of all places you should be able to find batteries although it's been awhile since I last checked for these batteries. Sorry I can't help! Edit* www.speedyspares.com/shop/home/4054-sony-headphone-battery-for-mdr-100abn-s0185321812.html I got mine from here in Australia. Just remember that these batteries are not brand new and its debatable whether or not they're worth buying now. I'm still using my ABN100 headphones but mostly I use my wired which is becoming difficult because my new phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Go on google they still appear to be available albeit its a risky venture trying to find fresh reasonable batteries. Thanks for the reply. Dec ❤
If you buy any suitable battery try to find out if those batteries are fresh. There is a manufacturing date stamped on these batteries. It could be an obvious date or a manufacturing code which indicates date month and year. Check the the Mah rating, it should be 925 on these batteries. I have seen lower ratings on Chinese knock off batteries which I guess wont last as long. Still hard to know which ones will last and which ones won't.

No, the pillow on the band is fine on mine. I haven't needed to replace mine yet.
