That was a lucky encounter. They are hard to spot - even when you're close. Never known one to be this friendly - must have sensed you were a really nice guy !!!!
Whenever i see something like that having a good itch i think hmmn thats what we do, then i think i wonder if they have thoughts and feelings like us in any way.
Not so much a scale but location's there are places they are abundant and other place's you just won't ever see them. This was Tasmania and they are abundant there. So if cycling or walking in the wild chances are high within a week you would sight one. The trick is not to let them notice you. Their eye sight is not great at distance but there hearing is reasonably good. Stay down wind at about 20 metres and then don't move. Then there's a good chance they will walk up to you. Once you move they generally dig into the ground and don't move for a long time. Cheers Chris.
He is trying to find da wae.
I guess
Hopefully he finds da wae.
He also might be trying to find a Chaos emerald or the Master emerald.
Fun fact: The emerald's pow- I mean electricity-sensing organs on its beak allows the echidna to feel
Thanks for fun information 😀

Yes I agree. The best footage I've experienced.
Thanks Chris for the footage. Not many of us Aussies get that close to our Echidna. Quite a cute little critter.
Thanks. So hard to get them in the light walking up to you. Just lucky this time.
Did some further research. What an interesting critter. They can live up to 60 years , lay eggs, and females form pouches for their young. Nice video.
Thank you. Yes they are very strange and beautiful in lots of ways.
Thanks for sharing! Looks quite chunky this echidna!

Thank you. Yes very glad I got to experience and share.😀
wonderful
Thank you.
Cute little guy. Do the quills shoot in defense? Or just making his back protected in spikey quills?
The spikes are actually modified hair. There are tiny muscle tissue which can control movement. But not intentionally shoot them off.
Hey it's Knuckles 😄
Thanks
i love it
Thanks, Just made a new video of one.
