We have 2 5 gallon buckets buried up to the neck, that we stash stuff in, they have the resealable lids, never had a problem, then when you leave just throw over a good layer of twigs and leaves.
There is a food storage place near me who sells off their food grade containers. Still in working order and very resealable. I’m definitely going to do it in two spots near me. Thanks for fuelling my thoughts and watching the video too. Have a good one 👋🏼😉👍🏼
Apart from the traffic noise, it is a good woodland. Great plan with the different entry/exit points. I’ll work on that 👋🏼😉👍🏼 I hope all is well good sir?
Hello ages, how’s you? Twig stoves are the bizzo. At least you have a safer fire that way in the summer months. Thank for chatting and joining me on the vid. Be good 😉👍🏼
@@BourneOutside I'm doing alright 😃 I'm just waiting for a little more rain. Then we can start having campfires again on Vancouver Island. We've had a fire ban since the beginning of June☹️ Once it's over, I'll be getting the twig stove in action and cooking😃 So for now, I watch you use yours and live vicariously through you😁
Nice one Tim. Blimey, you gave it large with that bug spray 😂 - reckon you needed it tho 😳. Lovely little wood you found there too. Relaxed camp as always - thanks Bud 😃👍
Hello Giles, my apologies for the delay in getting back to you 😊 Crikey they came out all of a sudden them nasty little blighters. It’s a great little spot and what still seems a very unused and unmanaged wood. I do hope you are keeping well my good friend? 👋🏼😉👍🏼
I've often considered burying stuff in the woods. In a sealed container of some sort. Trouble is I'd probably forget where. Thanks, by the way, for the parcel. I will be publicly saying thanks in the future xxx ❤
I’m gonna do some caches, Dan. It will be a good thing to do. Haha, that is the problem about forgetting where they are 🤣 You don’t have to do a public viddy. ❤️
Hello mate, lovely little overnighter there sir. Good to see you out man. Very enjoyable. We need to get a camp in before winter hits 👍 all the best captain 👍
Yes we do need to get out. It was a good one. I enjoyed doing a bit of clearing off camera and getting it ready for some winter camps. I’ll be in touch.
Cut a food safe barrel and burry your gear. I don’t do that anymore but I used to keep an axe a bowsaw and some old oven grill racks. Usually tinder and a bag of charcoal for emergencies
Well done taking down the dead fall Tim you must have a lot of fire wood there. I think I’d prefer to store away the firewood for next time maybe keep dry in a plastic bag or something. If only leave gear if I knew I was going back and could bury it well. Great to see you out again
Morning Richard, there is an abundance of dead wood in there. I know what you’re saying about storing the wood under plastic or something. I have found as long as the wood is getting aired when stood up, when you split it open it is usually very dry inside. But it wouldn’t hurt me to store a few sections each visit just in case 😁👍🏼 I’ll definitely be returning, so a good concealed cache is on the agenda for me. Thanks very much for watching and putting some ideas my way 👋🏼 😉👍🏼
King of the swingers! A great little camp Tim. I think the covacure is underrated. The old biltong looked good. Nice and thick. I would love to find somewhere to stash my gear 😂. Roll on the 1000 mate 👊 let me send you some stickers please 😂

Not too far off that magic 1K mate. It'll be well deserved once you hit it👍 I only put a tarp up with the hammock because of those bloody squirrels! They sit up above me and drop all the nut shells & stuff from above😂

I have been burying gear in the bush for 50 + years and have over 20 caches around the forest. I find a hollow root system and put them in it. Never use the 10L paint buckets for storing food (except tin food), no matter how much you wash them or how clean they may look, after a while it will taint all food products. I have one or two that have been in the mountains for 35 years and the contents are as dry and usable as the day I put them there (no food, just gas, candles, burners etc. AM/FM radio). Over here in NZ the forests are long and wide. Where I tramp (hike) is as long as your London to Brighton and 30 k wide, so there is plenty of places to hide stuff. I once got caught in a storm. (1986) and was trapped in a hut for 5 days. I had a food dump nearby and that kept me going until the storm passed. So yes, it is a good idea to bury some gear if you think that it will be safe to do so. especially if you make frequent trips to that spot. Well, that's my two-penny worth. enjoyed the video ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ ☺☺
I would love a forest that huge to play in. London to Brighton sized sounds epic. But you can keep them spiders 😊 I will be creating some caches now for sure, thank you. Trapped for five days. I may try that one on my wife and say I’m trapped in my 9 acre bit of woodland and can’t get my way out for five days. Do you think she’d wear that? 🤣 You sound like you are a true outdoorsman and I hope you are still getting yourself out there.
