Its funny, I think he's very very good but for me sounds like quite a lot of other modern guitarists, he doesn't have that uniqueness like a Morse or a Blackmore. Imo.
I saw them in Stockholm August 6 at Gröna Lund. They were fantastic! The audience was a mix of old geezers, like me, and loads of young people. BTW, old geezers go in for free on Gröna Lund, its an entertainment park. So, Deep Purple for free! Just had to be there 4 hours in advance :)
Deep Purple. First rock concert I ever went to. In '68 my Dad and I drove from our town 2 hours to Seattle WA and dropped me off at Eagles Auditorium to see the original band which I believe, (correct me if I'm wrong) was MK1. What a night. Then Dad picked me up and we drove the 2+ hours back home like it was nobodies business!
I love Steve Morse. When he does Steve Morse music. This guy sounds so much more suited for this band. Don't know who he is, but this sounds as close to the early Purple we all love. And playing the hits.

Eso no es un concurso de guitarristas, todos los que han pasado por Deep Purple son únicos. Es muy difícil cantar con ese volumen atronador alrededor, Y la grabación tampoco es que ayude demasiado, seguramente en las zonas más centrada del auditorio se escucharía mejor equalizado y más al cantante. Yo simplemente pongo las orejas y los oídos y disfruto como cuando tenía 13 años, ahora tengo 65. Paz, salud, suerte, y larga vida a Deep Purple.

Simon McBride brings a lot of new energy to the old purple members with his fantastic guitar playing. Despite Simon Mcbride's advanced age, the band still rocks the house!
Steve Morse is a head above them all, that's why they made him quit. It resembles me Uriah Heep story when they went on tour leaving bass player in the hospital, he suffered electric shock when playing with the band. Full of integrity!
Better than ever. Ian is doing his best but seems to struggle. But kudos to him anyway. That age and still kickin' and Simon honouring Richies solos so good.
Friends ! Let's not compare Simon McBride to Ritchie, or anyone. Let's enjoy his talent and technique; great musicality, harmony, rhythm and above all, powerful rock & roll.

Simon is the most interesting guitarist I have heard of in years his playing is just incredible and his sound is utter perfection loving it.

WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE THEM IN 85 WITH BLACKMORE AND LORD. THEY WERE ON FIRE AND IAN COULD STILL SCREAM LIKE A BANSHI ON THAT TOUR.
I saw them in Poland in September 1991 in Poznań. Joey Lee Turner was with them.
