I saw them last night(9/8/2024) on tour with YES. The guy next to me asked after YES, why they didn't headline. After the first song, Space Trucking, I told him "That's why Purple headlined". They were awesome. The keyboard player and the guitar player were great additions to the group.
I saw them today (Sep 17, 2024) on tour with Journey. And Journey headlined. I found it outrageous. Nothing against Journey, they performed great too, but c'mon! It is Deep Purple!!! Saddly, 90% of the crow was there for Journey, so they enjoy Deep Purple, but were not totaly involved. And the show from DP was 10 of 10. What an impresive sound!I didn't miss Blackmore or Lord. Airey is great and recent added band member, McBride, is as good as Blackmore in my humble opinion.
Simon McBride is the closest I have heard anyone sound and play like Blackmore. Morse worked around the notes very adeptly but never deviated too much from the Morse style of playing, which is incredible in its own-right.
He has always been a very fine rock-bass player. For example listen to "No No No" on the Fireball album, or the 1970 video of Child in Time , particularly search youtube for "Stage Presence coach reacts to DEEP PURPLE "Child In Time" " (the sound on this particular clip is a lot better than some others on youtube). But I do know what you mean. I think that in recent years, perhaps even since Jon Lord's sad departure, Roger seems to be a bit further forward in the mix.
Специально послушал для сравнения три варианта концертного исполнения. Самый мощный с Лордом и Морсом. Просто бомба. Этот простенький, как по клавишам, так и по гитаре не лучший вариант. Да и по драйву Морс и Лорд просто жгли.
